Shop blog #1-of-#3: what's new in Blackpool Air Rifles?

  • Another 100% independent / impartial video...
    Here I paid a flying visit to Blackpool Air Rifles, and filmed top man Lloyd showing-off what's new (late Sept 2022).
    Please forgive the telephone(s) ringing etc, this was entirely unplanned and sprung on poor Lloyd, my bad. 😇
    My accompanying Flickr album contains a few photos that accompany this short blog video: www.flickr.com...

    Lloyd's idea of having a moderator adapter kit, is brilliant. How many times have we fitted a mod, and it looks "odd"?
    Love the idea of roving gun shop visits. A really good idea of showcasing various established shops, which we might'n have either visited, or even aware of.
    Nice one Russ 👍
    Regards Russ 2!!

      Thanks very much Russell, yep I do too (hence starting them, plus Sam suggested all of these, especially the next two, as she knew I' needed this boost, after visiting my folks in their care home the next morning after this 😢).
      I'd love to do more of these visits, but there aren't many well-equipped airgun shops up here in Scotland, thanks to the #@%$! airgun licensing. 🤷🏻‍♂
      Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ

    • @RussDouglas222
      @RussDouglas222  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @William Tell Oh I'm always honest, but the licensing literally stopped 99% of airgun sales dead, overnight.
      I wrote Airgun World articles on Airgun Licensing (and Airsoft, as one possible alternative for some of those who want to continue enjoying shooting, but without a licence) -in the first year or two following its introduction. That included freedom of information requests to Police Scotland, and visits to many existing gun shops.
      Yes your suggestion's good to help encourage others into the sport, but that's hamstrung as fundamentally many people are unfortunately still put off by having to pay to get (and periodically renew) a license, for the priviledge.
      Licensing was a political gimmick that wasn't required to uphold the law (any airgun-related offences were already amply covered by existing legislation, with typical penalties up to ten years), and the Police almost universally didn't want it either (with a few exceptions for particular circumstances, e.g. being able to impose firearm crime -level penalties if an unlicensed airgun's found during a raid on a drug den).
      At my own club (GARC = Grampian Air Rifle Club) membership is very slowly but steadily growing, including all ages / genders - which is great. 👏
      But times are hard money-wise and an already niche hobby will forever be hampered by having to pay for licensing, as well as for essential airguns and accessories.
      Thanks for watching and commenting, cheers. Russ

    • @RussDouglas222
      @RussDouglas222  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First impressions of the one I've started reviewing are that it's very well made, almost all alloy, bar the grip, cheek-piece and butt-pad.
      I love the easy adjustability of the cheek piece height and especially the LOP. I can unlock the butt pad, slide it in and stow the rifle in my rucksack gun slip still with moderator fitted - it's that compact!

      Sorry no, PCP air rifles require up to 300BAR / 4,500psi, so a dedicated HP compressor is used, plus the air must have all moisture removed.

      If you mean the 3-printed moderator adapters, yep indeedy? I missed the point of them at first as both of my rifles (and everything I've reviewed recently) -has a larger diameter shroud, plus I'd not seen the Weihrauch moderator with the stepped neck (my old one has a tapered neck).
      But once I saw the stepped neck of the existing (pre-XL/-XLK) moderators, it made a lot more sense.
      Plus the finish on these adapters is excellent. 👌

    Blackpool and Craftsman.vit - one in the same? ( lol ) I was recently ( out of curiosity ) googling to see if there were any bullpup style conversion kits available for an AA S510 and came across the craftsman.vit link. They have a video showing how to set it up - and the presenter in that is . . . similar in look and style to this Lloyd here.

      Hi Jim, haha not quite but Lloyd does stock his products.
      I've previously owned an S510 carbine (.22" FAC) which I initially fitted with a GRS stock, then a Craftsman Vit stock, and have written articles about it for Airgun World magazine.
      There's more info in this gallery (as well as others on the S510)...

    • @RussDouglas222

      Errr it's not a toy, it (and all PCP rifles) is a piece of precisely-engineered machinery with an intricate mechanism, that includes high pressure components.
      It's inconvenient that such rifles are expensive, but it's unavoidable.
      Cheers. Russ
