I grew one from a caterpillar when I was a kid. My Granddad put the caterpillar in a plastic grow box with some privet cuttings. The caterpillars are covered in brown/ black hairs. It went to chrysalis, then came the time it broke out into this beautiful moth. I gave it sugar water, and it crapped on my thumb. When it's wings filled out, we took photos and let it go. I never forgot the lime green and magenta colours, and the pre- flight vibration warm-up. Fantastic animals!

That’s very interesting,I couldn’t believe the size of it and the colours were amazing,I was going to let it crawl onto my hand then I wasn’t sure if they had a nasty bite, but they don’t and wish I had

It's amazing how moths are as beautiful as butterflies before they get covered in dust

You should see when they "Hover" at night, back in time when they did not know about this Moth, they thought it was an smaller Humming bird, it Hover exactly like that and the sound is crazy. Some are capable of flying at over 5.3 m/s (19 km/h) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sphingidae

makes sense, your caterpillars must be living off of your food portion sizes, no wonder they get so big
sorry that was the worst attempt at a joke i have ever made in my entire life
