NL if you still keep wondering why damage stat upgrades don't increase your tear damage by round numbers you should check out the BOI damage formula. Every consecutive upgrade will give you a lesser actual damage upgrade. Curved Horn, Ipecac etc are obvious exceptions.

I know criticism hurts, even if I were to say "oh as long as you want to play sports or whatever you want to do, it doesn't matter what anyone says". I'm also not great at taking criticism in most situations. I do think that it's important to do things that you want to do regardless though, or you risk missing out on an experience because of what other people think.

It's very noticeable in some situations; the Cancer trinket gives you a -2 tear delay if you are at 5 already, but it gave a Keeper with Brimstone -4. This makes things like Skinny Odd Mushroom outright amazing as the Keeper, as they are actually directly better.
For the record the formula is 16 - 6 * sqrt(TotalTears * 1.3 + 1); that'll get you the number on the stats screen. You can use that number to determine the actual rate of fire (which is 30 / (x + 1)). That is the tears formula, not damage. The damage formula is CharacterBaseDamage * sqrt(TotalDamage * 1.2 + 1), with some flat damage ups (such as Chemical Peel or Lump of Coal) just being added on after it, and the multipliers just multiplying everything. The square root is, of course, why later ones are worth less.
