Psp is a bit like my garage, you know the tools are there but you spend all day looking for them. I liked what you did and im' going to do what some one else mentioned and go through the steps that you did. I think psp is good, but for me, it sort of needs a road map to find what you need to get the job done in reasonable time. Thanks for a good lesson, and will be looking at your other's.

What I can't find is how to add masks from online to the mask folder in PSP. I am adding masks to the mask folder but when I open up all my masks, I don't see the ones I added even though Veiw All masks is selected.
I have this same version. After opening the program, I click on any one of the menu dialogue boxes and it takes about five seconds for the dialogue box to populate after dropping down. This happens only after I first open the program. After that, the menu dialogue boxes drop down naturally with its content. Any suggestions?
I wish I could help you but I doubt I can. I stopped using PSP a while ago, now using Adobe Lr, Ps and TopazLabs products. I do know that most software vendors have recommended hardware to run their program with minimal requirements often falling short in practice; so that is one thing to consider. Clearing caches and making sure memory is available and cache/scratch disc allocations are large enough is also important. Having a good graphics card with 4 or 8 GB RAM helps but only if the program is pointing to it. That the initial menu selection is sluggish but subsequent use is speedy may point to the program itself waiting for some user input before fully loading menu options. You could submit a ticket through the Corel help desk but they would likely tell you your version is no longer supported and you should upgrade. Good luck and thank you for viewing my video.
Hi Joe, I have Coral Paintshop pro X7 I have been trying to find a way to create a snowfall effect for some of my photographs. My question is, is it possible to create such an effect in Paintshop pro? If so can you do a tutorial?
Probably. I can think of several possibilities. I will look into it when I can get my old PC with PSPX6 up and running. I have moved to Adobe LR and PS and pretty much abandoned PSP due to repeated crashing and a huge difference in support and community. The usual method will involve both layers and masks, so be sure you understand both before moving on. To make it realistic you will want to make several layers with different sized flakes for close, mid ground and far. Here is how to create one such layer: Open the image you want to work on. Create a new blank layer, fill with medium gray. Find a filter to create noise. Use settings that look like fine sand or static. Blur - the amount of blur varies for each distance. Adjust levels dragging the black setting up to start eliminating the weak and smallest dots. The amount of black will eliminate more or less of the small dots. Change the layer opacity to screen. The white flakes will now appear over your underlying image.
I have moved almost 100% away from PSP to Adobe and Topaz products. It will be rare for me to create new PSP video. Realize that pretty much anything that can be done in one program can be done in the others. I will continue to answer questions for which I am able.

I can look into it. Masking is more complicated to learn in PSP, but after grasping that, the actual method becomes the same. It appears that some of the PS tutorials are better than others. I have not used that effect but have seen it in ads. It is eye catching. There are days my head feels like it is going to pieces!
Thanks for responding so quickly. I have followed a couple of tutorials for Photoshop, and tried to apply the techniques in paintshop without any Luck. But of course, I'm totally New at Photoshop and haven't played around in my paintshop for years - and I'm an impatient person so.... :P I will continue to try while waiting for you to hopefully come up With a solution ;)

joejaspervideo joe I had my fill of Corel also. Im done with them. Moving over to Adobe and Lightroom. I’ll check out you Adobe videos once I purchase Adobe.
Most of mine are currently concentrating on Topaz Lab's new Studio. That's a good program for applying textures and painterly effects etc - somewhere between painter and PS. I use Adobe's Lightroom Classic CC not the plain CC. Also, PS and Topaz's old plugins.
