I think you’d be surprised at some of the experiences you could have at various MLS and USL clubs in North America - some really passionate fans and stunning stadiums emerging. Would love to see you showcase more in the future!
In fairness, there's actually one very good bbq place in Seattle that's genuine authentic Memphis bbq. I can't remember what it's called rn but that shit was amazing
You guys probably got a best case scenario for landing on an MLS club. Seattle genuinely has one of the best fan bases for the sport in the whole country
Not anymore - this was true maybe 5-6 years ago. LA, Cincinnati, St Louis, Austin, Columbus, Nashville, Minnesota, just to name a few of the burgeoning markets in the US!
I've been going to Sporting KC games for the past 10 years and it's pretty surreal to see them on your channel Ellis. While the club is in utter disarray right now, we've had some positive results recently (this game included) that can hopefully jump start our season a little bit. Great video as always! Also, if you want some AUTHENTIC American BBQ, there is no better city than Kansas City :)
As an English Seattle Sounders fan, this was a fun video to see! Agree that MLS and the Sounders get a bad rap from the European football fans because of 'that' video. As seen in this, the fan culture there is so diehard and the city just completely embraces it. Shame you had to be there for that defeat though, SKC are not exactly our favourite club in the league for many reasons.
I'm a huge SKC fan. When I saw you were going to Seattle I was praying it was the SKC match and it paid off. I've been watching your channel for years and I've been loving the content lately with Omada. So pumped to see SKC on the channel. Great editing on this. I started watching you years ago around the Norwich-Ipswich play-off videos, I even remember the dodgy deleted Peterborough Away Day so it is really insane to see how far this channel has come. Fully deserved.

Seattle!!! Let's go Ellis, welcome to the U.S! Used to attend many a Mariners/Sounders game, fantastic city, exceptionally dedicated fans, glad you enjoyed a slice of Americana
I was so excited to see that dart hit Seattle but then my heart dropped when I saw it was the KC game.. If you ever plan on coming back go to a Seattle vs Portland game. Always the best game of MLS
Love the random away days at a random football club. Keep it up, but maybe do a map of a smaller region? Throw a dart at a map of Italy or Spain? Or Wales or Mexico? Something like that? And go to the nearest football club in that country/region?
Thank you for being respectful towards our soccer culture. It’s really growing over here. My local club Atlanta united sells out every game. I think our league has gotten so much better over the years and it’s honestly very enjoyable to watch
3 dart videos 3 times we’ve been accused of faking it. I can categorically say, financially and logically I would not have faked a 20 hour round trip to Seattle. Thanks to everyone who obviously knows we wouldn’t fake it 😂
I don’t want to throw out any names but there’s this one channel that does dart throwing on a map and you can tell it’s fake, they always land in like picturesque places that are convienently close to them. If there’s any channel I trust doing this, it’s yours!
I'll be honest, I too questioned the legitimacy of the throw at the start. Just happened to land on USA. But thinking about it, from a left handed thrower it was always going to drag to the left side of the map. But look, I'm still happy with the content as it gives a great look at other leagues around the world. I'd love a round 2 of this as there is so much of the footballing world to explore.
proud to say that I covered this match. I'm a TV Scout working for Stats Perform. nice to know you were there, great performance by Sporting Kansas City btw
I think us Europeans gatekeep football so much because Americans make it so family friendly and don’t particularly have any hooligans or chant about rival fans being inbred
Considering the craziest match i've ever watched was the only MLS game I ever went to, Chicago 3-2 Montreal with Schweinsteiger scoring the winner in the 97th minute in like 2018 or somethn, I can confirm the US very much does have a footy culture.
0:23 but there is nothing but water between Australia and Antarctica… I every time wonder what would they do if it hit Russia, but then I see how he hold a map and like “nah, he play it safe”
BRO IM FROM SEATTLE THIS IS THE GREATEST FOOTBALL VIDEO EVER LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOO THANK YOU ELLIS its such an amazing club sorry you saw our worst performance of the season.
I think the major difference is when you saw the atmosphere in the American stadiums it was often curated, it was not organic which occurs across the rest of the world. Sing along to the telepromter, clap your hands at this point, stamp you feet now, do the Hokey Cokey, it's like being at nursery.
Sadly, sport in the US is more about being a spectator than a supporter. While some of that is just circumstance (high ticket prices etc), it suuuucks. Basketball and ice hockey (and I might even lump in baseball to a lesser extent) are fairly international these days and we have the best leagues on talent... but compare the fan culture in the NBA to the EuroLeague, the NHL to clubs in places like Sweden and Switzerland, and MLB to Latin America and East Asia and it's not even a contest, they all just do it better. It sucks, fan culture is something I genuinely adore about sports but living in the US there's just nothing for me. Maybe if you're lucky there's big time uni sports but that's about it. Soccer/football is the exception where people are actually able to *try*, and fanbases such as Seattle and Portland have figured it out, but it's an uphill battle.
I mean its partially because the MLS is still very much in an expansion mindset. Soccer isn’t the biggest sport in the US, so the MLS is very intentional on making attending a game more easy for a new fan. While it would be great to have a more natural environment where everyone knows what to do because they themselves grew up as fans, if the MLS did that, they would not be around today. Once the MLS has an established fanbase in the US for a couple decades, and no longer need to appeal to new fans, I’m sure the environment will be a lot more particular to each team and traditions will be established. Besides all that, the environment is different at different locations, and some clubs have more fanatic fans than others. Just do keep in mind that most clubs in the MLS are only like 10 years old, so will prob have all the traditionalisms that an RB team would lol.
Thats how it is in Japan as well. Not every culture has to be the same. Its also reflective of americans and their culture. Individualistic as they maybe in their personal lives, they conform to authority easily and cooperate really quickly, in an almost eerily militaristic way as a group.
Recent sounders fan myself I actually went to my first in-person game a couple weeks after this video lmao, And yeah MLS kit prices are a joke but after watching all your kit hunting videos I checked the outlets and snagged the last season purple sounders kit for only 50$. Anyways love the vids!!
13:16 thank you!!! Some of my friends and I are West Ham supporters, and one day this year we went to a Charlotte FC game. One of my friends turned his nose up at every damn thing, while the other said to him, "shut the hell up, I can get good beer, barbecue, and a proper burger in the concourse". We started to have a really good time after that initial gatekeeping died out.
