@@pjb2836 This is what Filipinos call Pool. The traditional ones are called Bilyar. Table sizes are 3x5 ft. or 3x3 ft. The discs are made of fiber glass or hard wood like ebony. Powder are used on the tables, either talc or borax. Other names for this are; Pinoy Pool, Poolan, and Poorl (poor man's pool).
This game is called Novus, or Corona (crown) or Sea billiard. Sailors may play it during weak sea motion. Also You may play it at home in a small room.
This is one of the reasons why the Philippines has a lot of good players, world champions, and the GOAT. This is cheap, can be DIY, and can be purchased at Shopee, Lazada, etc. Kids beginning at the age of 4 can practice and learn pool's basics, safety, pocketing, and defense even at home. Little kids don't need to hang out at Pool halls to play pool.
Similar game what we used to play kids here in Finland. I have two tables myself. Homemade and original. Game is called korona(Finland) or novuss(Latvia). Korona is thought to have been born out of the game carrom. Great game.
Is this sport simply known as pool in the PI? I'd like to learn more about it. As others have commented, never seen this before. I like the compact table - Apartment-friendly!
This is a popular gambling game in the philippines and I was one of those who experience playing it. Very addicted because it was fun and easy to play. We called it "pool". I was suprise that lots of the foreigners here at the comment section don't know this simple game LOL unlike expensive billiard table pool set, our pool version was the cheapest.
The tip of the cue stick is also the same with the tip of the billiard cue stick so they use chalk to prevent further damage and to make cue stick tip last longer.

My theory is that a bored grade schooler thought of this game. He was always dreaming of becoming a billiard legend and used his pencil and coins as an imaginary pool game.
The version we had in the neighborhood is the spinning table where the player never had to go around the table to get shots. Also we have to consistently sprinkle it with baby powder or starch to make the pieces slide even smoothly.
