I allow my Cichlids to cross breed and had the chance to get some beautiful fish with amazing colors.
Great video. Is that center piece background rock from universal rocks? I like how its not a complete background and you can still have your filtration inputs and outputs not going through it
Hi chris yes it is. I believe it is the model BFR-004 on universals website (I think that's the correct model)
Loving the beard Adam cool man. Once again excellent video bud keep it up.👍👌
Lol thank you. It's getting a little itchy lol
@@adamc7918 ❤ Yeh tell me about it lol same here. But mate it suits you bro
Fish are looking phenomenal. Striking nice work
Thank you
great video thank you for sharing
Thank you for watching Lee and Mandy
It's great that your movies started appearing on youtube again :)
Beautiful fish, beautiful aquarium.
What a big blue fish with a belt at the top in the aquarium at 2:33?
Thank you. You are probably looking at the chilotilapia rhoadesii
Start a saltwater reef tank in there, that can be a awesome setup in that big tank
Ik this is late but do you think I could breed an auratus cichlid with a red zebra cichlid or a johanni with a yellow lab?
Those are mbuna which arent my specialty, but I'd imagine they would cross
What I don’t understand is if they easily cross breed in a tank wouldn’t they cross-breed in Lake Malawi too? And what happens then?
Hey Adam, can you show me how to hybrid african cichlids between female yellow lab and male exochromis anagenys, thanks...
Those may not cross due to how different they are
Nice beard Adam...👍 yea, there is always a chance of cross breeding but culling is one way to get rid of the fish..
Haha thanks Jimmy
Great video so far I found with my tank as long as i provided females for every species they stick to their own, crossing fingers it continues lol... but yeah there's always a chance
Yep i agree George. When I still have 2 furcicauda females for him he never bothered anyone when they were breeding
I like when they breed and make a different species of fish
Some mixes look Good
Rocking the beard
Haha yep
Where would we be if dogs had never been crossbred?
I certainly wouldnt have my 2 rescue mixes
Hey Adam so I've got 2 young groups of Protomelas Ornatus and Tramitichromis Intermedius Kambiri and as I said they are small but at what size can I expect them to be at a breeding age or size and I am keeping them separate from all other species. But curious as to when I can expect them to begin possibly breeding? Thanks RH
It can be hard to say. Depends on tank size, their health, if they are stressed or not. I've bred both of those before, my ornatus group first spawned when the Male was 5.5 inches and the female was around 4. The kambiri were smaller, probably 3.5 to 4 inch if I remember correctly
@@adamc7918 awesome thank you for the reply. Once I figure out the sexes I'm setting up a couple 40 gallon breeder tanks so hopefully those will suffice to breed, if not let me know please and thank you for the response.
The kambiri may be able to stay in a 40 for a while. Adult ornatus will outgrow that. My last ornatus Male was 8.5 inches when he passed
@@adamc7918 Hey Adam just curious I have one definite male Tramitichromis Kambiri. I have a feeling of my Protomelas Ornatus showing some yellow on their dorsal fin and wanted to know if you believe if I can probably count on those being males Bec see no color on any female pics I've looked up. Also looking to possibly find one more Happy to breed and wondered what your take is on Mylochromis Lateristriga? Also appreciate the info and time answering my questions so if all goes well down the road would like to, if you are interested, send some your way as a thank you.
Bom muito bom.
Crossbreeding will definitely occur! I had a female Mbenji Blue Regal Peacock breed with a Male Yellow Blaze Lithobates and vice versa Female Litho w/ Male Regal. I would imagine that this behavior is a natural occurrence in the wild...
Yes a lot of the fish that exist naturally now came from some sort of crossbreeding probably dating back thousands to millions of years
Maybe next Zak can breed with them all and make the first human fish hybrids 🙏
Not sure who Zak is but ok
My tropheus duboisi would do the same thing when my tropheus brichardi uwili would breed. I feel your frustration. I threw there asses out of the main tank lol
Yeah man it's quite frustrating
Wow you've been waiting for them to spawn. He messed that up. I think that they will pick up were they left off after you remove him.
I think you're right. Hes gonna he gone tomorrow so I'm hoping over the weekend they spawn
My Rostratus is a NOTORIOUS egg stealer. Lol. My Venustus had to let him know that wasn't happening and he hasn't done it since. Lol Gorgeous as always.
Haha, it's always someone
@@adamc7918 1 genus harem group bear move I've ever made. Most peaceful tank I own. Love the music. Lol Do you still have your Rostratus?
Oh and buy him some females! Lol
No I sold the trio of them a couple months ago, just ran out of space lol
@@adamc7918 My 3 are now in my 220g none are full grown and they will definitely need a bigger tank, I'm just glad they are laid back, hoping it will last a few months until my next tank gets here. Lol. Question the mylochromis, are they alright with other Mylochromis or should I keep 1 group per tank?
Bro the beard nice 👍 devils 3 way lol but both of males were awesome colored up
Haha. He spoiled the party
Its like emperor chiclid and alunocara
I could see it
My venustus, which I thought was a late blooming male, is a female who I just watched have what appeared to be a successful breeding session with my star sapphire male. Who would have ever thought.... ???? I can’t even imagine what the babies would look like
Given the opportunity there are some strange crosses the fish will do
What are the hazards of crossbreeding/hybridization?
If similar looking fish breed it can be hard to tell if hybridization occurred. If hybrid fry get out they can breed further and it potentially could taint a pure line species of fish and people don't have the aquarium fish they think they do
That will happen with multiple species, but hybrids can be some of the prettiest fish
I’ve had some champoschromis Venustus fry and attempts at fossorochromis venustus haha. Needless to say big male venustus is on the way out.
I've seen venustus and rostratus quite a bit for some reason
that guy is so big that the nagriventer can not challenge it
I think you're right
Is there a beard a see growing out as well as the fry.. 🤣💪🏻 #beardbroski
Haha, yes getting a little itchy
It will pass,.. 😉
I'm not sure if my wife is going to let the beard live much longer.....shes not a huge fan
Adam C ya same here.. it maybe time to clean up for the spring.. 😊
True
Wouldn’t they crossbreed in the wild?
I'm sure it probably happens
What a shame, I loved those furcicauda.
Me too Jake. Me too
Trying out for Duck Dynasty?
Ssshhhh dont spoil my secret
New Video .... New Beard . Damn I'm sure you're sad to see that big boy go 😢
Yes sir, nothing ever works out perfectly unfortunately
@@adamc7918 Yea at least you enjoyed him and let us enjoy him in
the time you had him 😢
Thanks man
