I have answered some FAQ’s and demonstrated the app (and it’s new features) in a new video which you can view here th-cam.com/video/xF89CkMzcsU/w-d-xo.html
The only fault I have with the Beeline because I need glasses is the small exit number on the roundabouts, difficult to read at a glance, it needs to be slightly bigger in my opinion. Apart from that its brilliant.
Got my Beeline yesterday and tried it out today on my Norton Commando. I bought the posh metal version and was surprised how heavy it is. Hope that the mount isnt to flimsy in the long run (Old-Brit-Vibrations !) Yes, the exit numbers for roundabouts are too small, and the permanent GPS-Connection flattens the phone battery at an alarming rate but apart from that: Really nice device that doesnt ruin the appearance of a classic bike.
Love it - just make sure your phone is equipped with a good GPS chip/antenna. The very reason I buy a dedicated GPS is the poor quality of most phones' GPS systems. EDIT: just found out you can add (bluetooth) external GPS receiver to any phone - Garmin GLO 2 GPS GLONASS Bluetooth Receiver is an example - but there are other units on offer. This will add more precise locationing.
I have it for over the year now and I like it, but definitely can be improved! For example give more setting choices from device itself, rather then get the phone out every time you want alter your route, like for scenic one after Motorway stint, or simple Go Home function which start a route for you in the direction of your house!
Bought one a couple of years ago and found: screen too small for my poor old eyesight, prefer voice guidance to looking at a screen (less distraction), good battery life. Ultimately I switched back to Scenic on iPhone or Google Maps/Waze for cities or finding complex destinations. Really wanted to get on with Beeline more :(
I like it, but also.. I'm not sure... I love the size (even though the screen could be bigger instead of the huge blank area around it... great for A to B.. and I might still get one for that.. as I don't like the bulkiness of my tomtom rider. but I do some tours in the mountains, and I like having a map visible on my tomtom to see what kind of bends and turns are coming up. So I can adjust my speed accordingly if I see a hairpin turn coming up.. or judge when it would be best to overtake cars if I can see a straight section coming up on the map.. this allows for some better anticipation and planning.. The beeline obviously won't show this, as it will only show the next turn you have to make, it won't show bends on your current road.
Very true and totally understand, for me that’s actually made me a safer rider because I’m not interpreting the road based on what I a computer is showing which can sometimes lead to people thinking they know what’s ahead when I’m fact they don’t or haven’t accounted for altitude changes, obstacles, etcetc. I used to be exactly the same when using my phone for nav but I don’t miss it.
Wow, i've just ordered one of theses without knowing a lot about it, I just liked it's simplicity. Now I am really looking forward to it's arrival. Thanks for this very detailed and easy to understand review... thx. Wonder what other gems you've got on your channel.., i'm off to have a nose around, bye.
so it seems to me, it would be good advice to get accustomed to the BeeLine Moto on routes you are very familiar with, prior to actually using it for navigation.
I have used the Beeline now for several months. It is a nice piece of gear. There is one thing to keep in mind; it only works as good as your cell phone. If you run out of cell coverage and your phone can not find itself, you lose navigation. So it does not replace a real satellite GPS unit. I use the Beeline when I can, but still have my Garmin GPS mounted.
I normally only find this is an issue if you try and start a route with no service but I haven’t yet lost total GPS signal on my phone, just 4G which doesn’t affect an already ‘started’ route
Great review Henry. Just a thought from us vets. I now need glasses for reading etc, and looks like I would be ok with the arrow, but wouldn't see the smaller prompts. Apart from that, it's a great idea. :)
Lawrie Maddox I also use glasses for close work, it’s not as small as it seems, you can download the app, set a route and click ‘use without beeline’ to get a better idea of the size/layout but that will depend on how big your phone is!
That was surprisingly a pretty honest review for someone who's an ambassador of the brand. Would you say the navigation app itself is just as good as google? Like do you have different names of shops and companies etc or do you always have to enter the exact address? For example in google maps I can just type in Starbucks and it will list all the starbucks shops in the area and I can choose the nearest one.
The Wild One used to be but not currently or at the time of filming 😁 I think beeline are confident enough in this product that they’re ok with honesty, nothing is perfect! The app works off google maps’ platform so the search function is exactly the same, you also have the same routing options/exemptions and from next month you should also have improved route options with multiple routes to choose from. I would say the waypoint function makes it slightly better than google maps. You can save favourite places and routes too. The app is free and doesn’t require the device so why not download and try it out to see how you like it :)
Great video Henry. Just like Martin I wear different spectacles for reading and riding so I may need to see one in the flesh before I decide whether to buy one.
I find it often gives you the wrong exit on a roundabout, gives veryblittle warning for exits from dual carriageways and tends to struggle in town. Google maps is far easier to follow. Still works ok'ish. But you need to pay attention as to where you are going rather than just absentmindedly following the directions.
Can you tell us more about how to set way points, the dragging etc and how to avoid the turning back as you described to hit a way point, thanks, good vid nice and clear but more simple steps on operating the device would be good for the old boys thanks
Hey Tony! I did more of a how to video for beeline a year or so ago which you can find on their channel but basically you just tap on the line created by the route you have set to create a waypoint and then press hold and drag that to move it, I zoom in to check that this creates a flowing route without being told to turn around etc. I normally just map routes in sections though for example I’ll set the route by adding point A as the destination then deselect that by tapping anywhere on the map and add a new destination and that basically changes the final point and makes the previous final point a waypoint :)
Hey Nicolas! I believe you press the bottom button, you may have to hold it, the same as when you want it to reroute - may be one that Beeline can confirm!
Thanks for this review. I was really waiting for it. Great that you mentioned the potential calimoto integration. Is there a Google maps integration that takes traffic jams into consideration?
The system is built off the google maps platform however there is currently no traffic warnings etc - there is a new app update coming in August which sounds very exciting and will have a host of new features making the app more user friendly and allowing better control over navigation!
I use Google maps with a headphone so I get audio messages but nothing visual, which is fine unless you're going fast and wind noise makes hearing the exit number difficult sometimes. Also means I can't use my protective buds. I think the UI would take a bit of getting used to but these are tempting. Cameras, traffic and re-routing are good to have though. Google does that automatically in my pocket and doesn't use the screen either
HI. Thanks so much for the fantastic videos that you have completed on the Beeline! Really great and helpful. I am very close to purchasing one, however I just have one thing I need to work out. Does the beeline have built in GPS? Or relies solely on the connection to the phone. The reason I ask, is that I want to know if the Speedo function screen will work while the phone is not connected. ie: if I am just riding to work for the day, can I simply turn on the beeline and have the speedo screen work? Or do I have to turn on the app on my phone for this to work every time? If I do have to turn the app on every time, do I have to set a destination. Or can it just show my speed for example. I want to just use it for the speedo sometime for eg. Cheers and thanks again.
It relies on GPS from the phone for the speedo. You’d have to set a destination to use the speedo function too, which isn’t the end of the world as you can set a random place, but you can’t use it without a phone connection
@@HenryCrew35 Thanks so much for the super fast reply! I really appreciate it. Exactly the answer I was chasing. Keep up the great work on the awesome reviews and videos. Cheers
Thank you for this in-depth review. Now I just need to work out how to mount on my bike, (Yam MT07), due to the dash being on the bars, combined with aftermarket bars I have no clear space to use the standard mount :(
Ah that’s frustrating! Maybe the mirror mount? Or the sticky mount? I have the strap mount off centre next to the indicator switch on my DRZ due to having a crash pad etc.
Great review, answered all my questions. It's obvious you've used it long enough to give an informed opinion. But it's gonna have to wait until I've got some disposable, I'm afraid. Thanks Henry
Yes! No cell / data coverage needed. Only need that to plot your route - once you’ve saved the route or hit ‘go’ then it works offline. The only difference is it will just tell you to turn back to rejoin your route rather than rerouting when working offline.
I found it rattles on the mounts, it's a loose fit which is bit naff, fitted a small o-ring around the tiny screw so have to press and turn to fit, keeps it more secure. Like others have said number in middle for exit off roundabouts is too small.
How do you think it would manage if you want to do as much Greenlane/gravel road as is possible. Is it something you can select on the app? It’s good to know I could use it for my bike too. Thanks.
For mapping the system is based on google maps so doesn’t have an off road version. When I ride green lanes I plot a route using ViewRanger and then export a GPX file to the beeline which works well for me :)
Very well put together video thank you. Do most users keep the phone in their pocket while using the beeline or could I get away with putting my phone in my toolbox?
Hey Charles! Thanks! I keep mine in my trouser pocket or jacket but I have also kept it under the seat on charge before, you’d probably get away with it but it will depend on the strength of your phones Bluetooth connection.
please request this feature to Beeline: it would be useful to have a second kind of view point that gives you a signal on the Beeline device when you are approaching it. let's say I create a route from point A to point B, and on the route I add viewpoint 1 and viewpoint 2. viewpoint 1 is there because I want the route to go through a particolar street but I don't need to be warned when I'm there, and viewpoint 2 is set at particular place, where I want to be warned on the Beeline device when I'm there (maybe cos I want to meet a friend there, or make a stop, or whatever). it should be possible to change the kind of viewpoint by tapping on it, and give it a different color, to distinguish this new kind from the original one. since we don't see a map, a warning on the Beeline device could be very useful to know when we reached a certain place.
Yep there is a setting you can turn on and off for this. Only does it if you have signal though otherwise it tells you to turn around until you get back to the route :)
I can see how this would be a problem on bikes where the beeline is positioned further away or eyesight is affected. I don’t have this issue but lots of my friends have brought it up.
I use mine on the small bar above the display on my Tenere - I wear varifocal lenses and don’t have a problem with the display. I used to use a Tom Tom rider - emphasis on the ‘used’…
What I understand is that at all times you need your mobile phone active and connected with the divide. So it is actually not the device wat limits you but the phone capacity.
Yes the device connects to the phone via Bluetooth and uses the GPS of the phone. You can save routes offline so as not to use data etc. battery of your phone is a limitation although there isn’t a huge drain because you’re not using the screen so the app works in the background.
@@HenryCrew35 Henry, thank you for the direct, clear and unambiguous, lightning fast answer!!!! I am scrutinizing a variety of motorbike navigation systems and this one stroke me as absolute clear and understandable. The next step might be loading a route into the device and than able to switch of the mobile phone. Not for a chart display but for saving mobile phone battery on longer trips. Thank you and a happy new year. Many happy km’s (I am Dutch) 😉👍.
I’ve spoken a lot with the team about this and they also mentioned a colour screen with more of a traditional nav and the main issue is size and expense, as soon as they add storage or bigger / colour screen you need to also have bigger batteries and the device is a tomtom 😅 totally get what you mean though!
Does the Beeline have offline GPS mapping? Before mine fell out of its mount, if I wasn't on the pre-set route, set using a wifi connection, it wouldn't re-route in rural areas with no cell access. Could have been my unfamiliarity, but it's gone now and I'll never know.
It won’t re route without network connection it’ll just point back to the route using compass mode you can still use the maps off line it just can’t plot new routes without connection
Great review thanks. How do you find it with Gpx files? I read it struggles with larger files. It would be nice if it had hazard and speed camera alerts like Waze also!
I find it works really well but I only use it for off-road with GPX - up to 130 miles or so at a time. There will be traffic alerts in the new app updates but hazards etc is probably only an option for apps with a much bigger user base and may struggle on the screen.
Apart from the price and the casing, what's the difference between the bicycle version and the motorcycle version? If the bicycle version can work on motorcycles, surely it's a money saving alternative?
I don’t think the bicycle version is fully waterproof or shockproof. It doesn’t use the same mounting system as the moto (it just uses a strap to mount to bars). Other than that I’m not too sure of other differences - the overall concept is the same.
You have to set a location however I guess you could get around this by setting the destination as true north on compass mode it would just always point north.
What does the device do to your phone? Is the app open and running all the time while driving? Does it drain your phone battery? And can you charge the device when it is mounted on the holder?
Hey Elmer, the app runs in the background but as it isn’t using the screen of your phone the battery drain is minimal. It just uses your phone for the GPS. You can’t charge the device when mounted as the mount uses the same system as the charger. They haven’t made a USB charging mount yet. The battery of the device lasts 30 hours so it’s fine for multi day rides.
Is it worth of buying? On the other video I read many bad rates...?Wrong directions on the roundabout is one of example, wrong directions of indicator....what do you think is so bad??? Moreover they rate costumer service of Belline not well...
You can use the velo I believe it functions the same and you can swap between velo or moto nav in the app however I don’t think the velo has the same waterproofing etc
Phone battery use is low, I don’t really have a problem - I don’t have a usb charger on my street triple and have done week long trips using beeline 8 hrs a day without needing to recharge until the night. I have iPhone 8+
When you're planning a route in the app, is there a way to see the arrival time? I can't figure that out so if my arrival time matters, I'm now using Google Maps for that, which means I'm using two apps instead of one...
It’s Bluetooth so it’s more if the phone doesn’t have signal however it’ll run with no signal at all it just can’t re route. I never had any issues with losing connection to the device
Yes! You can customise with route options the same as google maps plus add as many waypoints as you like. If you want to get super precise you can upload GPX files! Sorry for the slow reply, I missed this one!
G Man I guess if you’ve planned GPX routes and imported them it would work the same as riding off road but it’s not designed for this. I would recommend trying ViewRanger for walking.
@@NagtzaamRemco yes it is, and tolls etc the same as with Google maps. There is a new update coming which gives you three route options when you type in a destination.
i.am using the Beeline here in Thailand and occasionally the arrow will just start spinning around and give all sorts of readings not sure what is causing this my guess would be it has lost the signal.
Hi Mark, yes could be lost signal, it may be inconsistency between digital maps / GPS / the actual road layout? You could shoot the beeline team an email I’m sure they’ll have some suggestions.
Wonder if the iPhone can connect with both my helmet and Beeline at the same time. How do you guys listened to music while the beeline is connected to the phone?
A pitty that the system doesn't route you back to the preplanned GPX track (no recalculation) that you uploaded when you have to leave the track for one or the other reason (works in progress, road block). Very annoying. You have to take out your phone and try to memorise a route which sircumnavigates the obstacle and brings you back to the track. The system should be able to do this. Now I only use it to navigate from A to B on a route the Beeline chooses. This way the system recalculates when you miss or skipped a turning point.
Can you (or anyone really) explain to me how you're not having your phone mounted anywhere but using the light-sensor of it to control the screen brightness of the beeline?
It doesn’t use the light sensor, it is either off or on, you can change this manually or it turns on a sundown but works this out by time not by light. Only issue is in a tunnel it won’t turn the backlight on automatically.
@@HenryCrew35 Ah, gotcha! Thanks very much! I think your review steered me to buy one! The minimalistic design and information along with ease of use really speak to me. 👍
Not so good for we Yanks. The big arrow indicator doesn't work well at all for intercity riding. (Here in the States, where we have like 5 round-abouts in the entire country) At intersections (junctions) the Beeline's big arrow doesn't change to indicate the needed turn direction until mere feet before the turn. For inter-city navigation, its common that you need to be in the proper lane well before the turn. The Big Arrow is no help for that. This makes the Big Arrow feature worthless. I've waited at a busy traffic light intersection, 3 car lengths back from the traffic light, and the BeeLine still hasn't indicated a turn was necessary. Yes the small DOT and the 'distance to go' should indicate which way to turn. But if you are in 3 or 4 lanes of traffic you need to pick the turn lane well before you get there. What good is the Big Arrow? For my money - and Use Case - the Dot and Miles-to-Go should be the larger displays, not the Arrow. (that's not going to happen :-) I haven't used it outside my large city so it may be more useful riding in the countryside. Virtually all YT demos of the BeeLine have featured round-about navigation. Not traffic lights. (I use a Pixel 6 Pro phone. cell service is on and its in my top shirt pocket) In spite of this Arrow problem I'll keep using the BeeLine and the Arrow will keep telling me When I have turned.
Hi, I'm interested in this but how well does it work when you're on a 6 lane section of say the M6 and have to take the correct lane, I can't see how a simple arrow will work?
There will be a icon in the middle telling you to stay left or right, that combined with the arrow and turn dot is normally sufficient on really big motorways however I do think with this device you do have to be a little more engaged and aware in situations like that than you would with a SatNav with a massive screen. I’ve done a few trips up and down the U.K. with it and it’s not really been an issue.
@@HenryCrew35 Great thank you very much for the reply. To be honest at these junctions you'd be better off reading the overhead signs/road markings than just relying on satnav anyway.
Hey buddy, I got the beeline and it seemed working fine but the when i mounted it on my bike the arrow is going crazy on me and the search sign is always there 😳 ... i thought it's supposed to show the roundabouts and junctions... very disappointing. I hope there's a fix for that. I CAN'T FIND ANY HELP ONLINE FOR THAT MATTER.
If you are not yet on the road then this is probably why the search sign should just be there until it can see you are on the route and then it will disappear until a roundabout etc 😁 if this isn’t the issue it’s best to email beeline they have a really great customer service team who can do some trouble shooting for you. Hope you get it sorted quickly!
I don’t have that. I always close the phone screen and have it in my pocket the whole time without the screen on. Maybe there is a setting on your phone you need to allow the app to work with the screen off / in the background?
Any idea how the "back light" is supposed to work? I'm struggling to view the screen sitting in my living room with the glare off the glass. Only option I've got is automatic back light on or off... neither appear to turn anything actually on or off.
Hi Mark! I haven’t had a road bike since mine was stolen in august so I’m purely off road at the moment, normally for that I don’t use navs but if I was to get another road bike I’d definitely be using the beeline 👍
@@HenryCrew35 that sucks, hopefully you’ll get another bike soon. I can recommend an xsr700 if you were wondering what to get!!! - good luck and thanks for your reply.
Hey! I’ve not used it in the US but I have a couple of friends who live there and had signed up to the original Kickstarter and love it! Don’t see why it would be different from any of the other places I’ve ridden with it :)
U can easily get a app on your fine that simplifies directions just like beeline does so that argument is not valid about phones being too information loaded and confusing
@@HenryCrew35 ofc not everyone has a smartphone nowadays and its priced too high even if u dont want to use ur phone theres satnavs you can buy for that price
@@everythinggaming7938 satnavs provide too much info. For an adventure rider or a cruiser setup a traditional satnav can be good. Mounting a phone to the handlebar has so many reported issues with modern phones where it faults the phones ois and makes photos blur... even the new anti vibration dampeners for well known phone mounts is a miss i heared... For a clean simple just tell me when to turn city/curve chaser it is better. Also like the fact that the footprint is minimal, can be easily munted and unmounted - i would not like to permanently mount something on my bike if i dont use this at all times... cleaner, cooler device with as minimal as possible info. Some things i dont like: no voice directions. No easy way to add a gas station stop on the go. No live traffic data when planning. Cannot skip music or answer phone :) but my main concern is no live traffic and no voice directions - and i hate the huge arrow which is pointless - yet it takes a lot of sceen estate from a small screen - silly design imho.
Sorry for the slow reply I have only just seen this comment! They come with multiple sizes to accommodate most bars. I have had the small ones on cross bars and the big ones wrap around a full clamp.
@@HenryCrew35 Wouldnt that just always point directly in front of you then? Or is it more the way the road ahead of you will bend go a little further in front?
@@HenryCrew35 sorry I'll clarify... if you're going around a left hand bend will it point forward or to the left? Or if theres a bend coming up will it start pointing left before you get there to let you know theres a bend on the way?
fishyc150 it depends on the road, useful at forks or when turns are next to multiple exits etc you see it start to move as you approach a turn. The dot telling you which direction to turn and the distance countdown are probably more valuable.
@@HenryCrew35 No worries. Guy from Beeline explained that a route needs to be set before you can use it as a speedo. Handy on my Thunderbird Storm as the clocks are on the tank.
battery lasts 30 hours, waterproof, etc, etc. Can you confirm you are not being paid / sponsored by the manufacturer as opposed to a genuine one year real world review? apologies the video comes across as a marketing video
Hey Keith! Sorry for the slow reply, I've only just seen this! This video isn't sponsored or paid for by beeline. I have worked with them before in November last year - I did their explainer video hence knowing the IP67 waterproofing etc but this video is unsponsored and independent :)
Not waterproof I don’t think, it’s not shock proof it’s not got the same tech inside and can’t keep up with the same speeds, it’s not got a robust case and doesn’t work with the same mounting system.
If tested the beeline in the last 2 and a half years . My close opinion for it ? Don´t buy it. Every navigation app is more comfortable as the Beeline App will be in ten years. The Beeline itself would like to make an update at every boot. This costs a lot of time, angar because you need a Data Conection for a succesfull Update The precision is more a sub underclass level. The precision of Navigation is by +/- 45 m . Thats could be work if your alone in nowhere land but in a City or a bigger town with more than two Corners is that not a realy fun to ride. Its a no go. You have to use the the beeline app, only . The powerconsumption from the app is high. That means in less than 4 houers your phone is empty. All in all it was a nice Idea and pretty much designd piece . It looks fine at every motorbike or bike. But in real life its a peace of scrap. Don´t buy it
For what it is, it's very expensive. Contrast that with a free app on your phone. Secondly, a phone display shows clearly the route in blue, the shape of the road, and how far you are along it.....at a glance. The Beeline shows an arrow. You have no idea how far you are along your route, or how far you have to go. Summing up, such a limited device it is way overpriced. Still, for hipsters, I suppose price and value for money are nor relevant.
When your phone breaks that can be very expensive, I’ve had phones destroyed from Running maps on quadlock or in a pouch. I don’t miss having a map in front of me but yes it’s not for everyone. The beeline shows you how far through your route you are at the top. Definitely not for everyone but I wouldn’t say it’s limited after what I’ve done with it since getting one.
I have answered some FAQ’s and demonstrated the app (and it’s new features) in a new video which you can view here th-cam.com/video/xF89CkMzcsU/w-d-xo.html

Good call!
Great review keep um coming Henry
Thanks :)
Awesome review. Thank you
Really detailed and intelligent review - thanks
Thanks David!
How do you actually skip a waypoint?
Thanks Henry, from Melbourne (Kustom Kommune) ✌🏼
Hey Nicolas! I believe you press the bottom button, you may have to hold it, the same as when you want it to reroute - may be one that Beeline can confirm!
Yes you can re-route manually by pressing bottom button. You must be in gps and cell data area for it to re-route .
Be aware, you cannot manually skip waypoints in an imported GPX
Nice review bro, nicely done video too!
The music in the background is great. Would be thankful if you shared the song list :D
Juan Fiscina thanks! It’s all library music!
@@HenryCrew35 thanks for the reply. Sounds very good. With traffic warnings and calimoto intigration this seems like a very good product
Hi,I would like to purchase the harness and bracket. Please let me know how to putchase.
Cheers
Nice Review Henry, Bye the way what make and model are your glasses they look really smart, thanks
Thanks! They're from Ace & Tate - own brand specs and I don't know if they have a model name but they have a selection of similar styles! :)
20,000 miles in 1 year? great job! i need to ride more. Probably a stupid question but....I can see using the beeline as an auto navi, can I?
Lots of commuting and a few big trips! You should be able to use it for anything - you just need a mount :)
Glad you found it useful! Well worth it when funds allow.
Nice review.....still undecided but erring towards getting one.
You could always download the app, there is a digital version of the device you can try if you pop a route in a click ‘use without beeline’ ✌️
@@HenryCrew35 Thanks. Didn't know that. Will give it a go.
Will the Beeline continue to navigate using your phone's GPS if you have lost cell tower coverage?
Yes! No cell / data coverage needed. Only need that to plot your route - once you’ve saved the route or hit ‘go’ then it works offline. The only difference is it will just tell you to turn back to rejoin your route rather than rerouting when working offline.
Thx Henry, that was the piece of info a was looking for!
Yes
good honest review just bought one
Thanks! I have an FAQ video coming out soon with details on the new app update too 😎
please request this feature to Beeline:
it would be useful to have a second kind of view point that gives you a signal on the Beeline device when you are approaching it.
let's say I create a route from point A to point B, and on the route I add viewpoint 1 and viewpoint 2. viewpoint 1 is there because I want the route to go through a particolar street but I don't need to be warned when I'm there, and viewpoint 2 is set at particular place, where I want to be warned on the Beeline device when I'm there (maybe cos I want to meet a friend there, or make a stop, or whatever).
it should be possible to change the kind of viewpoint by tapping on it, and give it a different color, to distinguish this new kind from the original one.
since we don't see a map, a warning on the Beeline device could be very useful to know when we reached a certain place.
Great video..
P.S.- Hello Mario!
Thanks! :)
Great vid! :)
Any feedback of how they work in North America
Looks like a great bit of kit.
I really like it!
Great video - thank you. How well does the the display work with polarized sunglasses?
I don’t have polarised glasses so I don’t really know - I can’t see it being an issue but could be wrong
@@HenryCrew35 Thank you, sir.
Great vid mate!!
Thanks!
Informative and fun 👍
Thanks my G!
Great review. Question, if you go off route does it automatically re route?
Yep there is a setting you can turn on and off for this. Only does it if you have signal though otherwise it tells you to turn around until you get back to the route :)
Just to re-affirm that the roundabout number is too small to see. Get rid of the roundabout symbol and just have a bigger number in this position.
@@HenryCrew35 great thanks for the reply, I'll get it ordered!
God review however what would have been great is live usage with running commentary of what is happing? otherwise very good
Check out the video on Beeline’s channel for some more of that 👌
Thank you
Apart from the price and the casing, what's the difference between the bicycle version and the motorcycle version? If the bicycle version can work on motorcycles, surely it's a money saving alternative?
I don’t think the bicycle version is fully waterproof or shockproof. It doesn’t use the same mounting system as the moto (it just uses a strap to mount to bars). Other than that I’m not too sure of other differences - the overall concept is the same.
What does the unit do if you don’t set a destination? Would really love a straight compass function so I don’t get too tangled in the backroads.
You have to set a location however I guess you could get around this by setting the destination as true north on compass mode it would just always point north.
The arrow is pointless it should be replaced with an arrow, right curve, left, sharp right or left and the degrees of the curve ahead...
It could definitely be replaced with something
I never had an issue with the directions or the product but If you read the comments here you can make up your mind about customer service
Thanks! What is the difference between the Velo and the Moto? Can I use a Velo on my motorcycle?? Regards.
You can use the velo I believe it functions the same and you can swap between velo or moto nav in the app however I don’t think the velo has the same waterproofing etc
Hello thanks for your vid. I understand that GPS is in the phone, so what about the phone battery? Thanks. F
Phone battery use is low, I don’t really have a problem - I don’t have a usb charger on my street triple and have done week long trips using beeline 8 hrs a day without needing to recharge until the night. I have iPhone 8+
Henry Crew clear. Manu thanks
When you're planning a route in the app, is there a way to see the arrival time? I can't figure that out so if my arrival time matters, I'm now using Google Maps for that, which means I'm using two apps instead of one...
The new update has this feature and is being released this month I believe :)
Nice review. How much for the app though (google app) ? Do you pay just once or every year ?
It's a free app
Sorry I missed this comment! Yes the app is free no subscription needed.
What’s it like for dropping out from phone? I had an TomTom VIO and it was terrible
It’s Bluetooth so it’s more if the phone doesn’t have signal however it’ll run with no signal at all it just can’t re route. I never had any issues with losing connection to the device
how does it work in the city ? For example, does it tell u if you need to take the flyover or take the road under the flyover?
It’ll tell you where to take an exit or keep right / left and point in the direction you need to go
Great video. Can you customize your route like you can on google maps, for example?
Yes! You can customise with route options the same as google maps plus add as many waypoints as you like. If you want to get super precise you can upload GPX files! Sorry for the slow reply, I missed this one!
@@HenryCrew35 is it any good for hiking off-road for example in the UK on a national route?
G Man I guess if you’ve planned GPX routes and imported them it would work the same as riding off road but it’s not designed for this. I would recommend trying ViewRanger for walking.
@@HenryCrew35 Is it also possible to select a 'avoid highway' option?
Should be fine, someone said they had done that further down in the comments :)
Should be fine, someone said they had done that further down in the comments :)
And how would you rate it?
Is it possible to have the clock displaying while using the device, or do you need to toggle to clock mode for the time?
You’ll need to toggle through, only a couple of clicks on the side though!
You can plan specific tracks using waypoints in the beeline app and then it will reroute you but yes not ideal!
(Here in the States, where we have like 5 round-abouts in the entire country)
At intersections (junctions) the Beeline's big arrow doesn't change to indicate the needed turn direction until mere feet before the turn.
(that's not going to happen :-)
I haven't used it outside my large city so it may be more useful riding in the countryside.
Virtually all YT demos of the BeeLine have featured round-about navigation. Not traffic lights.
(I use a Pixel 6 Pro phone. cell service is on and its in my top shirt pocket)
In spite of this Arrow problem I'll keep using the BeeLine and the Arrow will keep telling me When I have turned.
Is the battery replaceable once it stops taking charge?
Not sure about that! Good question, might be one for their support team.
Its a smart navigation device that - allows the Chinese to record all your journeys.
@@HenryCrew35 actually I did ride with it and the sign was still there 🤗 anyways thx for getting back 👉🏽 cheers
hmm very strange! Maybe try updating form where or manually unpair and repair the device? I’m sure Beeline’s tech team can figure it out for you :)
@@HenryCrew35 ohh I just figured it out.. the phone screen have to stay on and it doesn't work like the Google map in the background 👻
I don’t have that. I always close the phone screen and have it in my pocket the whole time without the screen on. Maybe there is a setting on your phone you need to allow the app to work with the screen off / in the background?
You say they are ‘both’ waterproof, and yet you showed us three devices.
Can I assume the plastic one isn’t waterproof?
Both as in plastic and metal casing - all beeline moto devices are IP67 certified 😁
@@HenryCrew35 thank you for reply, buddy 🤜🏼🤛🏼
No problem!
Any idea how the "back light" is supposed to work? I'm struggling to view the screen sitting in my living room with the glare off the glass.
Only option I've got is automatic back light on or off... neither appear to turn anything actually on or off.
Found the back light on the beeline itself not the app.
Left button brings up a little light bulb at the top. Press the top button and it comes on...
Yeh as standard it comes on when the sun goes down based off sunset times no light sensor
Is this still your main navigation device?
Do you need internet on your phone to use the beeline navi?
No, just to plot routes. You can save them for use another time but once plotted you can use offline :)
Any feedback on using in the US?
Hey! I’ve not used it in the US but I have a couple of friends who live there and had signed up to the original Kickstarter and love it! Don’t see why it would be different from any of the other places I’ve ridden with it :)
@@HenryCrew35 thank you!
U can easily get a app on your fine that simplifies directions just like beeline does so that argument is not valid about phones being too information loaded and confusing
I don’t think this is for you mate 😂
How big are the elastic bands as the only space I have is in the middle of the bars and it's pretty wide.
Sorry for the slow reply I have only just seen this comment! They come with multiple sizes to accommodate most bars. I have had the small ones on cross bars and the big ones wrap around a full clamp.
So there's no voice guidance?
No there isn’t
So what does the big arrow do???
fishyc150 Thats the direction you should be travelling / the road you’re on
@@HenryCrew35
Wouldnt that just always point directly in front of you then? Or is it more the way the road ahead of you will bend go a little further in front?
@@HenryCrew35 sorry I'll clarify... if you're going around a left hand bend will it point forward or to the left? Or if theres a bend coming up will it start pointing left before you get there to let you know theres a bend on the way?
fishyc150 it depends on the road, useful at forks or when turns are next to multiple exits etc you see it start to move as you approach a turn. The dot telling you which direction to turn and the distance countdown are probably more valuable.

Hey Keith! Sorry for the slow reply, I've only just seen this! This video isn't sponsored or paid for by beeline. I have worked with them before in November last year - I did their explainer video hence knowing the IP67 waterproofing etc but this video is unsponsored and independent :)
Why couldn't you just use their bicycle version for £99?
Not waterproof I don’t think, it’s not shock proof it’s not got the same tech inside and can’t keep up with the same speeds, it’s not got a robust case and doesn’t work with the same mounting system.
2 years on and still the same problems.
When your phone breaks that can be very expensive, I’ve had phones destroyed from
Running maps on quadlock or in a pouch. I don’t miss having a map in front of me but yes it’s not for everyone. The beeline shows you how far through your route you are at the top. Definitely not for everyone but I wouldn’t say it’s limited after what I’ve done with it since getting one.
Did you try Beeline Moto in Thailand?
Not yet!
Can you switch between navigation and compass modes at the device or is that done from the app?
I think you can only do it in app and not during navigation only when setting the route
