    This is a great idea for a series. It will make choosing materials less overwhelming.

    Good inside information from a great aquascaper. If you have the ability to grow plants, you should be listening to this lady!

    Great ideas since so many folks get overwhelmed watching Green Aqua or something like that and have no idea where to begin or how much all that costs. I few cool pieces and a single type of plant goes a LOOOONG way!

    This is an awesome video! Thank you for making real content, a full video and not a short.

      You’re welcome. But that’s a tough one, most folks prefer the shorter format these days so some day I may need to include the shorts as an option…☺️

    Yes, do a series! I like how organized your presentation is.

    I love your combos. Easy enough for anybody to put together, and looks great.
    Yes, a series on this would be great! A lot of us have scaping things stored or laying around, left overseas from reshapes or stuff that looked cool when we bought it but now have no idea what to do with it or how to make it work.
    You're scapes are always amazing, creative, and look so good. So yeah, girl, do it!
    A scape series for those of us who have problems getting outside the thinking box.
    👍❤️👍

    I love your channel Joana because you show and tell everything about your channel- title small scape. Your channel small scape Is the only one ever in TH-cam. I notice in the background beside the cubes the plague Jason received from TH-cam regarding all his subscriber's a wonderful congratulations to y'all, I don't know when it was received but I'm subscribed to you both.

    Glad your little Java fern is doing so well for you!! 😊 ☺️ Those 2 spider wood pieces fit together so nicely and pair great with the fern! I would love to see this as a series!

    Thanks Johanna for giving different ways of aquascaping. I forget get which # video it is but I like the one that the plants look like grass (name?)and a few rocks allowing more fish to roam around in. I already told you but I have a 90 gallon discus tank with beautiful white rock & white sand & a cool piece of cholla wool.I will do my best in adding a few of the plants you showcased. Petsmart has never let me down when I purchase my plants. Respectfully, Marty. 5 STARS!

    @thesmallscape: thanks for making it so simple! As someone new to hobby and trying to cram everything in my 10G but still never getting to a point that made me happy, this simplification really helps!

    Lovely video! I would love to see a video on how to choose between color combinations of sand and driftwood and or rocks. For example light sand with mopani or black sand and spiderwood.

    I always enjoy watching your ideas. I fell in love with dwarf hairgrass but don't use CO2 so it didn't do well. The dwarf sagitaria is such a better option for my tanks. I am also addicted to petrified wood rocks. They are all so unique and can give different looks to different tanks.

    Thanks Joanna! I have had good luck with Java Fern "Windelov" That's the kind with the little "fingers" coming off the leaf. My water is rock hard high PH etc like yours (I'm in MIchigan) You may want to try it. I can't seem to kill it grows like a weed No Complaints!!

    Cholla wood + subwassertang or cholla + Monte Carlo. Both attach well and it’s something kinda different! My shrimp love it. Sometimes I pair with small crypts and river rock.

  • @djcmission

    Your ideas are always inspiring. I was just getting tired of my tired sword plants. Other things are easier to grow. I'm doing well with dwarf sag, Italian val, java moss so far. Some things, like hair grass, not so much.

  • @HeyItsCeeJay
    @HeyItsCeeJay ปีที่แล้ว

    This has probably been asked before but I am a new follower. Your pH is 8.2. Can you tell me your KH and GH levels? I see you using stone that even adds more hardness to your water. I am curious about your success with plants because I am getting ready to start my first planted aquarium and I have very hard water.

    • @AriaArah

      I think there's no way to prevent that because that is simply how java ferns propagate.

    Hello! I am currently waiting for my plants to arrive from aquarium co op should be here in a couple days. Is there any harm in setting up my scape a couple days before the plants arrive? I didn’t wanna fill it with water until the plants get here so is it bad to set it up without water for a couple days?

    I have heavily planted tanks with a variety of plants, and I STILL can't keep java fern alive. I've tried different tanks with different fish, different lighting, different placement with regards to water flow. They all die. 😕

    • @deborahcollis9814
      @deborahcollis9814 ปีที่แล้ว

      Java fern often dies when put in a tank. New plants grow on the dieing leaves and it is the new plants that will grow well in your tank.

    • @dawnt6791
      @dawnt6791 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@deborahcollis9814 I've left the "dead" ones for MONTHS without any new growth. No babies either. They die. The end for them. LOL I've given up on them.

    • @deborahcollis9814
      @deborahcollis9814 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dawnt6791 different ph? I find lower works best

    • @dawnt6791
      @dawnt6791 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@deborahcollis9814 pH stays right around 7.4-7.6, depending on the tank. I know others in my area who have success with Java fern in water as hard as or even harder than mine. (We also have high GH and KH.) I've even gotten fern from them, since I KNOW it's doing well in our local hard water. No go. Dies and stays dead. So I'm not sure what the issue is.

    Rules? There are rules in aquascaping? Who enforces these rules? I'd like to see them come to my fish room. They'd all die of indignation. I LAUGH at their rules. Scaping is art, and art comes from within, not through someone's preconceived notion of how someone else's art should be created. Rules 😂
