Cladding crisis: Hundreds of people being made homeless after Christmas
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 26 ธ.ค. 2023
- "The thing I remember is just people out on the street in pyjamas, crying, some with small children."
"I saw people wandering the corridors with their possessions in bin bags, with no idea where to go."
These are the images which have stuck with Nathan and Josh, from the night they and their neighbours were forced to leave their homes.
They’re just the latest victims of the post-Grenfell building safety scandal.

Deregulation is just another way of skirting around the regulations of safe building codes so they can build cheap and make more money
If only there were some hotels we could put them in temporarily…
For those who don't get sarcasm - we do, they're FULL of illegals.
I’m sure there’s some barges available
The Westminster leisure centre could be adapted as it is a wasted building these days
Lol
Not the right religion
Which reminds me- was anyone held accountable for grenfell ? Or were they tory donors?
tony blair signed of on the cladding deal for that when it was fitted under labour.
@@dannyblackwell2426 fitted when the 1970s tower block was refurbished between 2012 and 2016.
It was mainly full of immigrants, many of whom illegally sublet their flats, or had other illegals staying with them, hiding from the authorities. The government said survivors won't be prosecuted for that. But survivors did get put up in 4 star hotels and each was given a £50,000 credit card that they didn't have to repay.
Tory cover up. Spent more time blaming LFB than bringing criminal charges against the directors and managers responsible for the project.
NO it's a labour cover up. Labour Ward, Labour regs. Tories had nothing to do with it.@@GretatheEvilGremlin
My son was ruthlessly exploited by back street builders who applied zero hours contract rules. Like many youngsters he was forced into being self employed. Needless to say they worked for a ‘respectable’ household name.
Sickening.
Name and shame.
homelessness is a weapon used by the government and councils. its been weaponised.
dont hide their name
Tenants and homeowners are punished for house builders breaking the law and putting lives at risk.
Meanwhile HS2 are renting homes on the northern leg where tenants and homeowners were forced to move and sell.
These crooks need to be held accountable.
Too many brown envelopes were used.
Their main concern is to keep them safe but after Christmas they are going to be homeless and on the streets 👏 okay that makes sense 👍
Still nobody brought to justice for Grenfell…told to calm at the time…I wonder if that was the right course of action at the time. Rich protected.
Building like this all over the country, this will just get worse not better, like everything
I didn't know it was legal if they paid their rent.
Uk public refuse to learn
This happened to a Sydney apartment tower in Xmas 2019
That is xold and mean!😢
This is ridiculous. happening now to me
This is what happens when big money forces the reduction of regulations. Government stupidity and self-interest is ruining the world.
If I was one of these people I'm pretty certain I'd rather take a VERY SMALL risk with the cladding than be made homeless. This is being done as a CYA exercise by those in charge, and living in comfortable homes, not for the benefit of these displaced people.
If they're renting then they can just rent somewhere else. A bit inconvenient, but not the end of the world.
It is for those who own the damn things. Someone still owns it even if its let.@@winstoningram99
@@winstoningram99 There is no where else.
@@AldousC Surely there's loads of accommodation. Isn't there?
Its also about insurance and insurance cover; legal obligations. My own apartment insurance costs for building insurance (paid via our service charge) has gone from about 300 a year to 2k per year per apartment - now with a 50k per apartment excess.
We dont need another Grefiled tower
It is sheer stupidity !
When the people are going to get united against all the sssss???
The cladding being flamable at grenfell wouldn’t have been an issue if the windows were in their original position, or the window surrounds had been made of steel. Issue was the windowsills burnt allowing the smoke to travel into the building.
A nasty toxic perfect storm of fast buck developers and BTL landlords, inadequate and poorly policed building regs and unknowledgeable tenants and owner-occupiers dazzled by polished turd new builds in central locations.
Sow seeds 😢😢😢😢
Another shoddily built warehouse for people.......
Yet those responsible, walk away Scott free.
Here in Nigeria where every builder almost always does whatever they like we don't have such issues. It beats that in a highly industrialised and regulated western country such challenges are being encountered.
Any news from Banderas spring counteroffensive? 🤣🤣🤣
Another tory cover up
What’s covered up?
@@TG-ts3xn the dangerous cladding too buildings
labour council
Question is the Hill Top hotel in Carlisle clad with dangerous materials, this hotel has migrants housed there, are they in danger? Question if so how long have the local council been aware of this problem? Question was there a report done after Grenville towers?
Can Israe! Help? I guess not
@@Aceofspedes this is in canada actually
@@FUCK_ALL_TH-cam_MODERATORS And there was I thinking it is Manchester, England; like it said at the end.😮
How many Council Homes in Grenfell were sub-let again??
So that makes what happened alright? Behave
80% of former council homes are now owned by private landlords charging full whack.
Whats new is this on here to distract us ? while loads of people start rowing across the channel
Hmmmmm or maybe landlords are renting out in other areas and getting extra top ups like they get in hotels hint hint
Guessing right wing really don't care as usual
Whist all of this!… the building regulations failed their jobs!. Whats the point of regulations if they cant follow through their jobs!… take responsibility
Who is responsible? Why not report facts? Real journalism is dead.
CC = 33
Gaza Strip (week 12)
22k dead - 10k missing - 5k arrested
2.1 million displaced (91%) - 60k injured
50k predicted disease & famine deaths by 2024
Sure Mohammed 😅
love Israel
These numbers are to small Israel must make them higher.
🇵🇸
Go Israel 😂
Yes and where are these illegal immigrants ultimately going to be housed. When clearly we cannot house the uk citizens we have already. Perhaps the do gooder brigade can inform use because they cannot see the real problem.
There's over 1 million empty homes in the UK. No housing shortage, just a serious greed problem. Google it.
Don't reclad,,,,,, send the immigrants to it
wow, thats almost as disgusting as making out hamas are victims.
Do the residents at Skyline chambers condemn Hamas?
How many warm homes have immgrants fully abled men got with free food free gas and electric? That complain who are better of than brits because they have no bills or taxes . Thanks are lovely govenment 🎉
Migration built the UK.
And rebuilt after WW2.
If it wasn't for migration the UK wouldn't be where it is now.
But its sliding fast thanks to gross incompetence by the powers that be.
And a population who feed off lies and division, lapping it up like the sheeple do.
@@dzzzzz-bc1vi there not work shy because there not being taxed . They work for less than a Brit while govenment still gives them benefits . No Brit would be work shy if they had free home , electric , gas and food !
@@calamcouzens2090 LOL why would any Brit work if they ''had free home , electric , gas and food''?
@@calamcouzens2090 The government almost never gives immigrants benefits, if they have a spousal or work visa it almost certainly says "no public funds"
@@andrewgreen5892 it went down to 6 pound a day and free home electric and heating , plus 3 hot meals a day is not benefits anyway right
EU approved cladding?
who cares
No illegal immigrants being made homeless hmmmmmmmmm😡😡😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Immigration not economy will bring down Tory.
