    Thanks so much for showing the different settings and how to get to each one. Just got my 800 last week. Watching you set up the machine and you showing and telling the target numbers helps so much. Congrats on the large cent, CW General Service and other great relics. Always enjoy watching. Take care.

      This is great and I’m glad it will help you get up and running faster seeing what I’m doing. Take your time getting used to the noise... it good noise though. Your going to hear everything now with the loud bangs being what your after. It takes a bit to get used to the language of he machine, I’m still getting used to it, but once you start speaking it your hunt will really advance to the next level.
      I’m continuing to try stuff out and as I try, I keep everyone on track with what I’m trying. I have been hitting these farm fields due to the short amount of time left to hunt them before planting takes place. I still haven’t hit silver but I’m sure that day will be soon. Just not a lot of silver at the sites I’m hunting historically, but if there is, typically it’s an awesome one.
      This coming weekend I’m taking the V3i and the 800 out to do a test within the video just to see how they compare. Should be interesting.
      Thanks for tuning in to check out the video and very glad you got an Equinox... in my opinion... you made an awesome move doing so.

      @@squarenailsquirrel9638 , I watched a lot of TH-cam to make the decision on which detector to buy as my first lol. It was between the 800 and the Max. I'm glad I have nothing to compare to. I'm learning that same thing. Go for the loud clear signal or you will be digging deep stuff all day. I haven't played yet with anything but the factory settings but once I get used to it I look forward to being able to adjust them. Thanks again and take care.

    Great video fast paced and not a bunch of boring swinging or other fluff. I like how you showed the numbers before each recovery. I hope to hit a couple Ohio fields myself this weekend with my 800. Good luck out there!

      Thank you, I try to keep it entertaining. I have done a ton of fast pace videos for land surveying on Instagram and it took me about two years to find my style.. I parlay it over it TH-cam so the hunt can be portrayed as it truly is and be entertaining. Good luck with your hunt this weekend and I hope you dig up some great finds... gonna be muddy but should be dry enough the holes don't fill up with water as soon as you dig. The blue pouch is something I have been working on for a couple years. I have made three versions with the 4th in the process of being made. it's take a lot of field use and improvements to make it work really good. Once I find more time, I will continue on my design patent process which is currently held up due to funds and then start hand making limited quantities of these. There are other diggers out there that I've made them for which also have helped in sharing whats needed improved, they hunt pretty much every day professionally so the real tests happen with them.

    You couldn't contain your excitement. I would guess you like what you see from the Equinox. When I first got mine I had the same experience. It only gets better with time. Don't forget to do a noise cancel each time you change modes. If it stays chatty turn the sensitivity down. You can turn it down as low as 10 with no real lose of depth. A 6" coil will help to get between the nails. Keep playing with the iron bias and recovery speed. I can't wait to see what coins are in that field . Great video. Keep'em coming.

    Great hunt. I read an article about a year ago about buttons. It said that buttons with a hump around the shank were tombac. I can't remember where I read the article and I am not 100% sure that it's true, but, it may be a starting point to ID it.

    Field 2 with a high recovery and 50 tones is all I use. Equinox falses quite a bit in iron but it hits harder on non ferrous. I like to hear all the iron when I hunt too. Good luck

    • @squarenailsquirrel9638
      @squarenailsquirrel9638  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m favoring the field 2 as well. I ran tests on a wheat penny yesterday at an old ballfield. I have found a bunch of the wheats in a small area out there in the past. I hadn’t dug it but took a guess that it was. I tried park 1&2, field 1&2 and found that the signal was super strong In field 2. I then dug it and found that it actually was a Wheat can’t. I almost feel like to wipe a site completely clean you need to run version 1&2 on a site since they favor opposite sites of the spectrum of target conductivity. I haven’t hit a silver coin yet to comment on that, I’m hoping it will be soon.

    Good Job. Always Remember if you Hold the power button for about 10 Seconds it will pop up “FP” (Factory Preset). That way if you get adventurous with the settings to find out what works best for you. Then you have a simple way to start over if you don’t like the settings results you are getting. Remember, You can’t find it if your coil doesn’t pass over it. Happy Hunting.

      Thanks for the info, I actually have t tried the reset button yet. It’s nice that the option is there to do that, just start from a clean slate. The designers of the machine really did a great job although the arm cuff is a little weak... I’m working on a replacement. That’s very true about the passing over the target, I also tell folks a lot that the good targets have to be there to find good relics/coins. I rarely find silver on old sites like this... I never expect it because they just aren’t there very often.

      Your very welcome, I enjoy making and sharing these video. It’s a pleasure to have folks like you on here checking the videos out. So far the process of learning the 800 is really awesome and fairly simple to understand. My biggest change is the quality of the signal.. my hunt style is being adapted to fit the speed and difference of the signals. I’ll take a little bit to get proficient but that take place with any machine. I try to describe it as the language the machine speaks. Right now I’m trying to get down to the specifics on defining a target that may have a slight uplift in tone or special crack in the signal to assure what I’m about to dig is a good or bad target such as flat iron. The strong signals are easy but being able to define the iffy ones will take time. I have noticed there has been a minor decrease in the amount of good versus bad targets I’m digging which is very nice. Thanks for checking the video out and take care.

    Good job on the LC and buttons. Was hoping you would do a house yard that you have pounded with your whites machines to see what you missed. Farm fields are constantly turned over and its not the same as hunting a yard that has never been plowed. Maybe one of these days you'll have time to do a yard that you think you cleaned out with the whites machines. Then you will begin to understand the true power of the Equinox 800.

    • @squarenailsquirrel9638
      @squarenailsquirrel9638  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I need to keep hitting my farm fields due to the low remaining time until I don’t have them anymore. They will be planted soon and it will be game over on them until late fall. The fields I’m hunting haven’t been touch all winter, I’ve hunted these sites as they are now without being plowed, etc. Eventually I will get in town and start doing some yards to see what happens, should be fun. I have 14 homes inner city lined up so to hunt, there will be plenty of time to understand the power in the machine. I’m really feeling the difference as it is for the shirt time I’ve owned it... far superior. Thank yo for checking the video out and take care.

    • @larrywardlow2777
      @larrywardlow2777 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@squarenailsquirrel9638 The reason why im saying to hit a house yard and not a field is because coins and other metallic objects that have remained in the ground UNDISTURBED for lets say 100 years develop their own electromagnetic sphere over time. Whites machines do not have the tech that minelab has to process these targets. That's why in my opinion, whites technology is outdated and why I stand so strongly by the equinox 800 and its tech as being far superior to anything that whites is making. Youll see the power when you start pulling out the 10 inch deep silver dime in the yard that you walked over 100 times with whites and it never even registered.

    Well my friend. once again you have taken me on an adventure and it was good. I have the 600 and it has performed flawlessly! I would have gotten the 800 but my budget was a bit too tight for it at the time. I am really glad you have the 800. The way you edit your video's make it like a short adventure movie of sorts. Your narrating is good with the short history of items you find and what was going on in that area at the time. That is what it is all about when I am out there. My mind goes to another day in time, imagining who was doing what and how that item, relic or coin ended up where I found it. As I said before my friend, " YOU ROCK!". I have a lot to learn about the machine but it is happening slowly for me due to work and family. Please keep up the great work on your video's. Being a Battleship sailor, it was always an adventure being on the high seas and going through storms, also as we dropped anchor on the coast of many different countries. I have laid hands on the walls of the Panama canal as we transited through...imagining all the different people involved in its creation. All those who passed in its creation going through the challenges set before them. I enjoyed every moment of being on U.S.S. IOWA BB-61 as a 5"38 gunner. I miss those days...Metal detecting gives me adventure back on a personal level. It takes my mind away from the grind of everyday life. I absolutely love digging up history and discovering what was once lost reliving the moment and how it got there. My friend, your good people and I wish there were more with the mindset we both share. Take care, God bless and keep it up!

      That’s exactly what I’m thinking. If the machine with an 11” can do what happened in this video... a 6” coil would be non stoppable. I’ll eventually get one as well as the bigger coil to help out with large sites. Thank you for watching as well as commenting. 🙂

The monopod I built is from a land surveying tool called a bi-pod, only half of it though. I got creative so I would t have to deal with tripods out detecting, it would burn up 1/2 your hunts time setting up a camera. Congrats.. take your time is the main thing. Read the online manual, I printed it but it's a lot of ink. Familiarize yourself with the buttons and how to get to everything and then start figuring out what you want to increase or decrease. Watching the beginning of my videos may help getting fluid with the settings... biggest things to remember are what each setting does and how it effects your hunt (some are really no big deal like the tone of your threshold hum) and then making sure you begin to speak the language of the machines responses. Testing and trying things to see how your hunt improves works the best for me... I have about 20 hours of hunting time in on the machine and I am still learning and getting a hang of thing but the learning process hasn't been brutal or discouraging... it's been fun. Once you have it down to a T... you will be glad you put the time in. Good luck and ask questions, either I or others will respond with good info. Thanks for checking out the video.

    You really do make the best videos out there, bar none!
    How do you think your V3i would have handled that extreme iron mess and target separation? Looks like the 800 is fun to use, how would you describe the V3i on the none EMI site.

    • @squarenailsquirrel9638
      @squarenailsquirrel9638  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you very much, really appreciate that. :) I try pretty hard to make quality videos. If the V3i has the 4x6 coil on with a recovery delay of 40, it may have done fine in the iron patch on this site. I do know that the time I have spent here with the sport and the 6" detech coil... I passed over what I found during this hunt. The area at the end of the video that I was hunting is about a 25' square and I've pounded it for two 8 hour days. The comparison between the V3i and the 800 are very hard to make... two totally different animals. I will do a target test hunt like I did with the sport v/s V3i soon comparing the V3i and the 800.

      Haha!!! I’m seriously laughing out loud. Thanks funny. For some reason on these old home sites I’ve found many coins just laying on the surface like the one in the video. They have all had that beautiful green on them I guess from being exposed to sunlight possibly. Being in a plowed field really helps with finding surface coins, I’m not sure one would be laying on top that hadn’t been plowed. Good luck with your hunt and get on some plowed sites and possibly you will end up with a big copper surface find.

      I’ve noticed that running field 1 as well as park 1, there isn’t as much noise and the response sensitivity to iron or iffy signals is greatly reduced... just as you say as being calm. I believe running the 1’s fluctuating as you move on the site adjusting recovery delay to gain depth is a winning strategy. Every program on the machine has its strengths and better situation for use but overall:.. any of the programs do great.

    You can solve a common problem people face in plowed fields. Much of what they find has been broken or bent from years of plowing. Go to your settings and set depth to a foot and a half and deeper. This will eliminate all the broken and bent up stuff as well as a lot of heartbreak.

    SNS , do you find that the nox felt like it rolled in your hand at first (left and right) when you swing the coil? My hunting buddy has one and I thought it did but I guess you would get use to it or overcome that after a few hunts. Im considering buying the 800 after being a diehard whites user. My buddy is killing the silver with it he’s almost at 100 silver coins so far this year.
    I did read your comment about not wanting to do a comparison video but facts are facts this machine very well could have many detectorist hanging up the V
    Here’s why I’m hesitant on buying one
    1.the internal battery, Seems silly just to have to send the machine back to minelab to replace a battery.
    2. When the battery is depleted for the day you are out of luck if you are hunting in a remote location you have no choice but to end the hunt and recharge. unlike the V You pop in another battery and go again.
    I don’t dog anyone for trying new machines. I definitely don’t like what I’m seeing from whites that is (nothing). They remain silent in a very competitive market. H.H

    • @squarenailsquirrel9638
      @squarenailsquirrel9638  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      this response has a govenor on it with anything dealing to the V, just getting out there.
      I do agree that the machine rolls a little unless you are grilling the handle tightly. The problem is in the 6’6” big forearm designed arm cuff, there is so much play in the cuff that it allows the kinetic forces of roll to twist the machine. Someone could add material, like a boot to the cuff to snug it up (currently working on a design), they could also make a new cuff out of aluminum (currently working on a design, waiting on machine shop made jig to get finished). The cuff on the machine is thin, fairly flimsy but does a good job. Mine is new and with time since I beat my equipment pretty good, it will break. They sell replacements but it is what it is I guess.
      The battery is top notch, first hunt, 8 hours on being on, still all bars were showing. I hunted by myself with no camera for 4 hours this week and battery went to half. I do know the battery replacement is the matter of 4 screws holding the control box/handle on. It’s nkt wired through the handle into the shaft like Whites, just stuck on the shaft. You can take it off, slide the battery out (might be solder joints or connector, not sure), then put it back together with a new battery.
      Here is another cool thing, battery banks, like the ones you charge your call phone with tha carry anywahere from 2500- 20,000 mah of juice... you just plug it up to the machine and run on that. There is a cable that comes with the machine that hooks to the machine to charge. It’s a USB on one side and as I discovered, an awesome very strong magnetic connector to the machine. You plug the USB to a 2.0 amp wall plug to charge. But... when in the field, strap a 20K battery bank the size of your wallet on the machine and plug up... you run for 5 days straight. There are very small, round and cylinder shaped banks of 5k Mah, $32.00 on Amazon. I’m going to get one of those and show that you can do this operation. It’s easily strapped on and very ergonomically complimenting to the machine. Sleek and won’t can’t on anything.
      Gonna but reply so I don’t lose what I type. continued, next.

      I don’t like what I’m seeing either. If redesigning the sport 5 ways without being waterproof is the way to get noticed... I’m not down with that. They all do good in the field but shifting frequencies, colors of pulse machines and finally after 25 years making a beach machine waterproof... ugh... they know what everyone wants. Multi, fast as lightning, separation, lightweight, don’t have to send in and lose your machine for 2 weeks due to an update, etc. I respect Whites and I’ve used their machines for 23 years although when I called dealers, whites factory Oregon, whites south Georgia, contacted field team members and spoke to the new guy that took TB’s places after he left... they all said this “whites is working on a new machine, can’t tell you what kind or when”... that left me dry. Every R&D is doing the same... it’s their job. Lol. I was willing to wait for whatever it was. So, I went to where the change is happening in the hobby with an extensive engineering crew pushing out what detectorists are after. If Whites comes out with something comparable i’ll Buy it and use it, whenever that may be. Until then... I’m going to reap the rewards of the new found respect for a brand other than what I’ve always know. It’s improved my hunt 10 fold so far and I can only expect it to do the same as time goes. (If anyone else reads this outside who I’m replying to, just know I support the hobby, I don’t sell detectors, I’m not sponsored, I get nothing out of my efforts, I’m just a detectorist making videos and sharing what I experience along the way, with this new discovery of “the difference” being part of it)

      I agree I’ve used white’s products since 1995
      Mainly for one reason the tone of their machines it appeals to my ears. Ya I agree 100% I don’t like what I’m seeing either from white’s from what I understand they lost some engineers, that could be tough to recover from. I continue to wait for a release It can’t possibly be too much longer. The V is a complex machine and you must know it well to get it to preform to its full potential. H.H

    Thanks for sharing your video. Always learning something new when I watch them. Sometimes the relics are better than the coins. They have more of a story to me. I thought you was a whites man. When did you switch to nox 800. Or your just trying it out. 😆. Good luck out there.

      Your welcome and glad you enjoyed the video. I’ve been White’s for 23 years of better and just recently was able to save up enough to get the Equinox. I would have had it sooner but I had to buy tires for my truck. Let’s just say... I wish I had this thing a long time ago... man it does an awesome job.

      That’s good. That’s why I detect with a Garrett Ace 400. Bc the rest are really expensive. I actually started with one my wife bought me for Christmas that cost around 40$. Then it broke. You get what you pay for. Then she bought me the 400 during tax season. I almost got the Nox 600 but we had to put money torch something else. Well you know how that goes. I lost that battle. But I’m pretty happy with the 400. I don’t find a lot of coins just bc they are not there. I find more relics and whatever is in the ground up to 8 to 10 inches which is fine by me. Maybe next year I will upgrade who knows. As you probably know. One income family makes it hard to get things. Thanks for answering me back. I always enjoy your videos. I subscribe to your channel back when you had only about 250 subscribers. Been a few sense that has happen. I have family in Logan Ohio. How far are you from that area.

    Another great video. You should look into the Rode Wireless Go Microphone. Runs for 7 hours on a charge.

      Thank you and glad you enjoyed it. I’ve looked into wireless mic’s but just haven’t purchased one yet. I’m somewhat confused on them due to using a cell phone. The brackets my phone is in while filming doesn’t allow for any attachments at the base.

      Look at the iOgrapher for your phone. I have one for my phone and iPad. The Wireless Go Mic works great.

      Takk for at du så på. Har du sett at jeg opprettet en oversettelse på norsk for video underteksten? Dette var mitt første forsøk, jeg håpet det fungerte. Jeg håper også dette oversetter.
      Norwegian? Swedish?
