    I was in Mansfield Ohio visiting relatives around 15 years ago. I got permission and did an old house. I found IH’s and a barber dime. That’s when I had a whites XLT or DFX. The IH’s were scratchy sounding maybe because of the dirt. Thanks again for your videos. I learn a lot! Please post soon.

    I have a theory about those keys. I noticed that none of them had teeth. Blank keys like those were stolen quite often from old Sears stores and from hardware stores. I bet a kid took them from a store and left them out there in the yard, not wanting to get into trouble. Made for a great spill find though. You found a hoard.

    • @squarenailsquirrel9638
      @squarenailsquirrel9638  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You may be spot on with your theory.. there were a lot of toys in that that yard very near the location I found the keys. Haha.. yes, it did make for a good spill find and sure surprised me when I found it. Thanks for checking out the video. :)

    14 keys and uncut =) I'm a locksmith. The top nickel-plated key is for a Honda from the 70 (thru) 80s (hence that little bump at the end) and the key with the triangular shaped hole (for the ring) is an older early 60s Ford key H19. Most of the other keys are Russwin-Corwin keys. (designated by an RU on the key body) They died out in popularity in the early 70s. Couple GM keys in there as well (designated by a B##) So, Im wondering if at some point it wasn't actually used as a locksmith shop? I can see if they were cut and hence maybe dropped and they had them all bound together with a now dissolved string, but they're not cut... people just do not carry a dozen + keys around in their pocket for the sheer joy of it lolol
    Thanks, Will

Very true on carrying around that many blank keys with not real purpose... may have been dropped by a locksmith.. WoW, so many comments I want to leave. My digging partner, Dalton E, and I watched this video on our lunch break from digging today. (We're both Nox users)
    Gotta say, that MACK truck belt buckle was INCREDIBLE! (I'd bet you'd get a few bucks for that on eBay!!!)
    Okay, as I'm a little older than you, here's the skinny on the SHELL Aluminum tokens/coins you found: In the late 1960's, early 1970's when I was a little goober, SHELL Gas stations did a promo, and you got a state coin for every ten gallons of gas or whatever. They also gave out a thick paper USA map, about the size of a dinner placemat, and each state had 2 slits in it, so you could slide each state coin on top of it's actual location on the map! They are still collectible today! I recently found about a dozen coins in an old box from storage from my mother's estate, and they sold immediately on eBay!
    Thanks for another wonderful video.

      The Mack Truck Belt Buckle?
      Well, I would first take it to my local Metal Detecting club meeting and put it out on the display table for that month's finds, and I might hang on to it for a little while to display, but if it was a piece that didn't have sentimental value to me, or if it sat in a box of stuff you find, why not let someone who appreciates it and would wear it regularly enjoy it?

    • @squarenailsquirrel9638
      @squarenailsquirrel9638  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I found the belt buckle to be a great find as well especially since it's still very usable. I actually have a friend back home that I am going to take it to since it's vintage and holds a story behind sitting in the ground for years to be found metal detecting.. I will give it to him so he can enjoy it. I see you had spoke about selling, was questioned and then replied with a great reply of others being able to enjoy the finds. Makes total sense... I typically just give away my finds but selling some would help out with all the costs of doing these videos, seems with every move I make to upgrade things all of this gets more expensive. I have never sold anything besides a smashed up solid gold pocket watch I found which I turned around the profit to buy my first White's V3i... I like it when a hobby supports itself financially. Thanks for commenting with the great info on the tokens and for checking out the video.

      @@squarenailsquirrel9638 Thanks for replying. Yes, now that I've sunk the money into the Nox 800 (right after I bought the big 15" NEL coil for my 705-because a Nox wasn't going to be available for 6 months) the g/f said she would greatly appreciate if this is where my MD equipment stayed put for a while, so I too have decided to have the hobby pay for itself. I want to venture into water hunting, so my next big purchase is one of those big water scoops you see everyone on YT using. Not cheap.
      But, luckily I have a g/f whose not into jewelry too much, and I found a pair of Michael KORRS designer earrings that don't interest her, and what am I going to do with them beside stare at them in my jewelry finds case, so they are going to an eBay auction, as is a Boy Scout gold plated charm I found on a tot lot. Let some parent get it for their Boy Scout son and put it back to good use instead of me just showing it off. I've never sold any of my ring finds or relics, but I'm going to try these two items!

    Thanx for another quality Vid Square Nail. And thanx for the settings & TID's too. The game that you mentioned at end reminds me of Geo Caching that I did several years ago. Basically, someone left instructions on a geocache website and you looked for a container stuffed with goodies and left something for the next finder. This could be catchy thing. I look forward to the next Vid.

      Your welcome and glad you enjoyed the video. I’ve never done the geo cache hunts but I have found them while out land surveying... I’ve read the notes inside as well as where people sign off that they found the cache. Looks like an adventure to try out sometime but with what I do for a living I search and find monuments all day for boundary’s which is very similar is the adventure. Thanks for checking the video out a good luck with any hunts coming up.

    What a marathon squirrel!
    Nice Indian & wheats, luv the cars and tokens. The bourbon token probably had a cord thru it and was tied to the bottle - that's why a repro of award.
    A nest of keys aka "a ring" 😂
    When you said that bldg is a shop, I thought for what kind of work, then hoping not a locksmith. Keys & big buckles are a sign area has not been detected before. Could be more...
    Good to see you bust out the 6" coil...how did you like it?

    • @squarenailsquirrel9638
      @squarenailsquirrel9638  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha... yes a marathon is a good description for it. I have looked into the bourbon token more and found that they are actually classified in a token book for values. They date back fairly far to about 1900 so being that is was my first one of the kind... I'm very happy with it. haha on "a ring"... the nest is wording from my surveying life... I find a nest of bricks to locate old stones.. carried though I guess. So far the 6" is great but it will take some getting used to.. it truly is a laser beam. So super small with it's signal to the ground.. liking that a lot. Thank you for checking out the video and talk soon. :)

    You should try switching coils on the same target. Pick like 4 signals of varying depths , then go from the 11 to the 6 without digging. See if the 6" gets it. Listen to the difference in the tone if any . Check depth, then dig them to see what they were.

    • @squarenailsquirrel9638

      I like finding anything that comes out of the ground that's interesting. I'm into finding old stuff mainly with coins and such included in the mix. To tell you the truth I like the coins because of the dates associated with them.. tells the story of the activity that was present on the site by year... I am actually not an avid coin collector although through metal detecting I have an extensive coin collection. For me the hobby is discovering, exploring and the adventure that comes from the buried history.. doesn't have to be an ancient gold coin to be precious and interesting.. just a simple flat button or a harmonica reed is just as exciting. I tend to think of the families and people that lost the items I find especially when I find silver or a gold ring.. I feel sympathy at times because of the loss of something so valuable to them. Thank you for checking out my videos and for commenting with such kind words.. hopefully my reply is accurate enough to make sense.

So did you notice a ton of different with the "6 coil or did it just force you to slow down so you heard the targets better? The weight is negligible between the two with.. just a touch lighter on the equinox utilizing the stock shaft. I would say between the two that the Equinox is balanced forward and very comfortable... kinda just feels like a stick with no "body" or "housing" under your arm like the White's. I will be doing some comparisons between the machines at some point. I can only do small coils since I don't own the 10" DD for the Sport. Thanks for checking out the videos. If have more questions between the two or something you want me to compare when I get to the comparison between the two machines.. just say so and I will include or answer concerns.

      extra note: Comparing the V3i to the Equinox weight wise... it's night and day difference.

    I really enjoy your videos very well made. I live in Lexington KY all my life where did you live?

      Glad you like the video, I try my best with them as I learn something new about every video. I own a farm on the Grant and Pendleton county line and grew up in Grant county north of you 45 mins up 75. I lived there 35 of my 39 years. I worked off Clays Mill road land surveying for most of my career and been all over Lexington surveying. My wife and I still have a house down in KY but it’s up north just before you hit the cut in the hill going into Cincinnati.

    Great video. I like the American flag on the back of your truck. Are you a veteran?

    • @squarenailsquirrel9638
      @squarenailsquirrel9638  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. I gathered up supplies to make a bracket to weld up a flag staff that fits in my receiver and is interstate speed worthy but couldn't find the pole part. Following week a guy replaced a hydrolic piston for a backhoe and gave me the slightly bent piston shaft, which is not my flag pole staff. Nice and strong at 10K pound tensile strength.. LOL. The flag is for a lighthouse and rated at 120 mph winds.. it's heavy and takes some speed to fly full extension but won't get torn up. I am sad to say that I am not a veteran.. my mom was against it since she was a child of a WWII, Vietnam and Korean War veteran (my grandpa) and lived though many moves, countries and pleaded I didn't go. I don't feel I made a mistake but it does weigh on my mind often.

    Good video as usual. Do you feel that detecting in all metal is an advantage? I noticed you switched between the 11" and 6" several times. What are your thoughts on the small coil?

    • @squarenailsquirrel9638
      @squarenailsquirrel9638  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. :) I do find hunting in all metal an advantage at times, it can help locate the dense matrix areas which means the most active part of the yard. When in farm fields it's a must while trying to locate the home site. I switch between coils a lot when I am hunting to cover more ground quickly.. when in the dense matrix the 6 and when not it's the 11. I always say this... the small coils are your cut in brush and the larger or stock sized coils are your roller.. .accurate for their application to cover more area effectively. So far the 6 has been great.. it truly is the laser beam as described by others.. depth good so far but I have limited time as to it's use.

      I have been using the Andres pencils quite a bit as well as a toothpick. I wish I had more to say on the subject but I don’t. The video on cleaning crusty cooppers has a lot of good info in the comments section for cleaning coins. I also recommend checking out the playlists of Aquachigger and viewing his coin cleaning videos... there are some good ones.

      Hello to you as well and thanks for checking out my channel. Thank you for subbing... 🙂 I just received the 6” coil and have limited time using it. So far it’s been great but i’ll need to use it more to form a better reasoned opinion about it. Gut feeling is that it’s going to be a great tool to utilize on the hunts.
