- On Nov. 20, 2024, Tyler Perry, Kerry Washington and Ebony Obsidian came to
Arlington National Cemetery as part of a @theuso visit to honor the legacy of the 6888th Central Postal Battalion,
known as the "Six Triple Eight." This historic, all-Black, all-female unit of the Women's Army Corps served overseas
during World War II, ensuring U.S. service members received long-delayed mail. The visit included a solemn tribute to Maj. Blanche Scott and Master Sgt. Allie Harshaw,
unit members from the 6888th Central Postal Battalion buried at ANC and a Public Wreath-Laying Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Just imagine how many more stories aren’t being told
Indeed
Exactly
Right
Thank you 🙏🏿 Tyler Perry for bringing this story to life.
Yesss indeed we are so proud of you Tyler for giving us this wonderful story !!! 🥺❤️❤️❤️
❤
Before Tyler Perry movie, I had never heard about these brave women
Me too
Me and my wife said the same thing.
Me too 😮
Me neither.
To distribute 17 million pieces of mail in 90 or less was not only amazing but also pure badass. Especially with all they had to deal with. They didn't miss a single step when marching either. RIP to these wonderful people. Thanks for your service!
Not to mention the horrible conditions they had to work in and the racial bias from their superiors etc…..it was good to see them make all those fools look like idiots for doubting they could do it.
Thank to every woman of the 6888, this Army Vet salute…mission accomplished…well done.
FINALLY getting their FLOWERS!🌻🌼🌷🌺🌸🌸
What they did for morale can never be quantified or praised highly enough.
Exactly. Well said. 👏🏾🙌🏾🫶🏾
Amen. Well said.
Amen! As a former service member there were three things that were a priority. Your check, your rations, and your Mail.
And we remember the powers that be, only cared to boost morale for the 'white' soldiers. 😢
Thank you, 6888!!! A job very well done!
So happy no racists hate comments are on here. Thank you for your service. 🎖️
Joy🕊💚💙❤
I Agree With You We Don't Need It.
You can’t lie about the truth
Thank you, 6888 for your service❤
This is only one reason why we need to make sure our kids learn about our history because stories like this are not taught in their history books and the little they do tell is slowly being erased. Thank you Tyler Perry for telling this story. Keep them coming, and thank you 6888❤
Yes I'm 56 and never heard this story
@@robertastringfellow1821 Same age as well and never heard of this story. And, my dad was in the WWII
This isn’t the only reason but 1 of many
EXACTLY
IM 53…. Just learned about them thanks to Tyler Perry…. IM GRATEFUL…. But it’s sad!!!
HISTORY IS HISTORY…. Tell it all…. The good and the bad
US Veteran here
Mail is very important ESPECIALLY 👏 when you are overseas ..
When your family send you a package 📦 it gives you joy.
I am glad they made this movie
I remember being in Army Basic Training back in '92, mail call was theeee most important part of the day, and I was only 4 states away from home. Can you imagine being in Combat overseas and no mail delivered? The stress level and depression had to be high. These women were BadAss....
Women are so resourceful and can oftentimes find a way to get the seemingly impossible done…an amazing story 🙏🏾
I saw the movie yesterday. I was particularly impress about the collection of perfumes, which the General pooh-poohed...there is something to be said about a woman's intuition.
This brings me to tears Thank you so much to Tyler Perry for bringing this to light and for showing the respect these women deserve. His placing of the flowers at the grave and the wreath ceremony and his deep respect. I can only say Thank you
Thank u for your service ladies.#6888💙
THANK YOU LADIES!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I always visit Arlington when I'm in or close to area...now my knowledge of the SixTriple Eight Batallion is a perfect reason to keep up that (visit) tradition.❤🙏
NOW THIS!!!! Needs to be taught in EVERY school 🏫, THROUGHOUT this country so that students AND others can be well-informed!!! 💯💯💯
Not allowed in many states to discuss this in schools. Especially Florida under Gov DeSatan
Yes I wish that they would teach us stuff like this
Thank you for your service queens.
These lovely ladies were never a secret I'm from the uk. My grandpa told me about these lovely ladies.
How wonderful!❤❤❤
Never heard of them before watching the movie 😢am glad your grandpa told you about them!!! I hope he will watch the movie with you if he is still alive ❤
They were never heard of in the United States the country they served. How tragic that the country they served didn’t care about them.
But a secret in their own country. Wish I was taught about them in elementary school.
❤

I AM posting this comment on “CHRIST” Mas 2024. I AM an African-American woman veteran that served over a decade in two different military branches. My late father served thirteen years as a paratrooper at what was then Ft.Bragg. I AM grateful that my parents stressed to me the urgent need to educate myself further in regards to, the “His Story” of African-Americans. Thank you Mr. Perry, Miss Washington and the cast of the 6888th. God Bless you all.
Thank you and your dad for your service 🫡
@@charlottecunningham2141 Thank you dear. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!🎆🎊🎈
A most humble heart feels immense gratitude to all you ladies. ❤
Thanks to these beautiful ladies for their dedicated service and sacrifice to the United States of America.🇺🇸 ❤
I'm waiting for a movie telling the story of black units during WWII that took part in D Day. I had a rare opportunity to talk to one of those old guys I met when I was stationed in Holland, just out of the blue. This old man described the opening scene from Saving Private Ryan to a T! This was around 1992 and that movie didn't come out until 1998. I wish I could have spent more time with him. But when I came back out of the post office on base he was gone. Like he was a ghost. But I distinctly remember him telling me that he was from the south and decided to stay in Holland because they treated black soldiers like heroes and took care of them and in America black soldiers were being hung. I met that old man while he was setting on the bench outside the post office on Soesterberg AB.
Send the info. to Tyler Perry.
Damn they finished in 3 months thats crazy
....They Was Just Smarter...🥰
@ period
There’s a lot of untold stories about African-Americans and the positive things they have done for this country. Thank you, Tyler Perry for bringing this one to us. And what a beautiful story it was.❤
Thanks so much for this video! This is the first I’d heard of these amazing women and their contributions to our country. 🇺🇸
Your statement is likely true for 98% of the world, especially us African American women. But we know now, and much like that amazing ALL FEMALE Batallion, we have to get the word (and their amazing work & sacrifice) out into the world.!

Thank you for posting.
Thank you Six Triple Eight Women!!!!
Thank you ladies, I love you all for your contribution to society as a whole for all Americans. 👏👏🙌🙏🙏 This needs to be taught in school, I am 42 years old and just now hearing about this. We have to preserve our history in order to know where we came from and that it doesn't compare to where God is taking us. He is showing us how far we have came and we are still coming and to never give up hope. Thank you LTC. Charity Adams and soldiers for having faith and continuing the fight I pray the Lord gives me this type of strength that shall endure even when he comes back to get us, In Jesus Name Amen...
This was a great.
Story and movie
Sho Nuff Thanks for the video, we should remember all and give honor to all soldiers.
Thanks, Tyler for telling their story AND visiting Arlington on my birthday. I appreciate you and feel a connection to the women of the 6 Triple Eight, especially "Ms. New York" the Lindy Hopper, I loved her dance scene and grew up only 4 blocks from where the Savoy used to be. I

Thank you ladies for your job Well done!!! Thanks to Tyler Perry for bringing their story to life! It's such an amazing story. God bless you ❤️ 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I am from al military family - since World War I there has been multiple family members on active duty up to today - and I worked 13 years for the US Postal Service. This movie educated me, touched my heart, and instilled a sense of pride for the women of the 6888th Battalion.
So glad someone valued them enough to keep video and other recordings of the ladies 😊❤
I say better late than never. A phenomenal feat and they deserve the honor and the glory. My thanks to The 6888. My dad served in WWW II so i wonder if he was a part of receiving some of that mail. Tributes to Tyler Perry for telling the story!!!
There is a book called Sisters in Arms. It is a fictionalization of them but it stays true to their legacy.
Legend GOATS rip 😢❤
Gotta admit ...I have not watched the film...But I also never knew about the great contribution of these women....I never heard of them during black history month in school...or The black history books. How they came there to get the job done and did so beautifully is wonderful...restoring hope & love to those waiting at home...by way of letters...When your loved one is away for weeks or months and to not get a call or letter is difficult...Just to get word that they are alive & ok is perhaps the best news hoped for.
Well you and the 3 people who liked this watch the film.
Thank you, 6888th Black Women Battalion, for your unwavering service. As thankless as it was, you may jave saved a life by making sure that the US military men continued to have some communication with their families and the outside world.
As Gulf war vet and two sons serving, I loved this movie, but mostly of these soldiers dedication to others even when they were denied by their own country
Powerful 🙌🏽🩷
Thank you beautiful ladies. Both of my grandfathers and some of my great uncles fought in WWll. We just found out Hitler's military was under the influence of several drugs and it was like they would not stop. Thank you for keeping communication open for our family ❤❤❤
May TMH God rest the 6888 Battalion forevermore
To Mr. Tyler Perry - THANK YOU for researching this crucial historical event & bringing it to the forefront to honor the memory of my Mother MADELEINE A COLEMAN (ROACH married name) who was a member of the 6888 Batallion. She along with her fellow "Sister Soldiers/ Warrior Women" - may they rest in peace & long overdue prestege as we their decedants strive to keep their legacy alive & thriving. God bless - Catherine Roach Connor & sister Afi Phoebe.

I was a cable-dog during Desert Storm... I ran a switch board for our teams. Communicating with family back home was essential for maintaining their morale.
