I think the 2019 reboot was disappointing as hell. Honestly I think Jordon Peele’s quality might already be going down (horror wise). He might be the next M. Night if this keeps up!

The original openings are the best. The remake ones tried to make it spooky. Twilight Zone isn't meant to be scary, though that can be how it leaves us feeling, but to be concepts & atmosphere, things that make us think.

About the 80's version... I get your point. Maybe it shouldn't be so "horror-like", because the point of Twilight is to be a middle ground, a "weird, but fascinating" style. Anyway, I love it, and for me, it works as it should be. The "horror" aesthetics of the '80s (Now a subject of parody) made it feel like a horror show all the way.
I love seeing these all together. The 1985 series intro is my favourite, ao atmosphere and chilling. With that quick smokey, ghostly flash of Rod (as if even in death, his presence at the door to that other dimension is still felt , ready to greet us as we cross over). It's right up there with classic Unsolved Mysteries as a powerful, haunting intro.

If I am honest, Forest Whittaker did a good job at hosting the 2002 revival, it’s the direction, intro and theme tune that let it down including the script.

1959 version remains to impact me more than the other intros. It’s so effective in depicting this other worldly scene without the need to be so annoyingly loud and yes I don’t really like the little guitar strums in the future intros.

@@ronschlorff7089 are you kidding me? Star Trek was at its peak in quality in the 90s, especially with TNG and DS9. I love the original series a lot, but other than Kirk, Spock and McCoy there isn’t much to the characters, the sci fi is very hit or miss and would only go on to be improved in The Next Generation where almost every week they would churn out a brilliant sci-fi concept. TOS barely scraped the bottom of the barrel with what the series could do.

Not every original series episode was great, just as not every later series episode was great. The point (and I'm sure Rod would agree) is that we keep returning to that dark place to examine our fears, to learn about ourselves. Rod gave that place its most accurate name, The Twilight Zone, but it is not some sacred series, something to be locked away in our cultural past, untouchable by any who come later and want to tell new stories. No, the Twilight Zone is forever, lurking with us, often just out of sight.
'85 version was my first experience and I guess my favorite because of this. I'm really enjoying going back and watching the original episodes now, though. Way ahead of their time and an obvious inspiration for a ton of modern entrainment.
The best SERIES was obviously the original from the 50s... but the best OPENING IMHO is the one from the 80s, it's so creepy and includes that brief homage to Serling which was nice touch.
Every one was REALLY good... EXCEPT the 2002-2003 version. You made it into a 1980’s rock tune...INSTEAD OF the creepy... nails down your back intro... there was a REASON WHY the creepy music worked. It brought you into a mysterious place no one encountered.. a place that metaphorically puts butterflies into your stomach... a place you are scared to enter..but while you’re there...afraid to leave... a place called.... the...T W I L I G H T Z O N E

The infamous guitar riff is awesome but the swells and unsettling unease of the reformatted version (2nd one used in the video) always sets my teeth on edge. The guitar riff is the impending danger...But that weird small swell is the understanding that you are in danger and have been for quite some time now. Unnerving stuff!
Came back here after the new show premiered and they nailed it so hard! The opening uses a combination of the narration from the first and second seasons, with a new arrangement of the classic season 2-5 theme, with mysterious otherworldly visuals inspired by the original series, plus the classic logo! AND they even used the original credits music from seasons 2+ at the end! Somebody finally paid due respect to this show!
Brilliant video. Been looking for all the intros. Glad you made this. Saw old series in repeats. The 80s version I saw as kid on tv but did not start here until 1987 when I was 4. The theme sounded so freaky. Did not like the 2002 one.
The intro of the series in the 80s seems more terrifying to me. I was 6 years old when I saw it and it scared me. The image of a rural area seen from the window of an old room at night... it was exactly like my grandparents' countryside. I still get chills when I see it today (with 44 year old)
and very ironic, like seemingly "peaceful and benevolent" aliens taking us away to their planet to...…..Cook us!!!, and a beautiful girl being considered "ugly" by a race of truly hideous appearing humanoids!!

Boy, that pilot voice over guy really helps you appreciate the relatively light, cool touch that Serling brought to it.

I think the 2002 one is good. It just doesnt scream "Twilight Zone". It seems like its more for an anthology series set in space.
Even though I love the original intro, the 85 - 89 version still sends chills to this day.

I think it was a goof in the original script. Rod puts extra emphasis on the word summit in the following intro. Lol

After Rod died in 1975 they should’ve left this show alone. The original is so perfect there’s no need for anything else.

@@ronschlorff7089 are you kidding me? Star Trek was at its peak in quality in the 90s, especially with TNG and DS9. I love the original series a lot, but other than Kirk, Spock and McCoy there isn’t much to the characters, the sci fi is very hit or miss and would only go on to be improved in The Next Generation where almost every week they would churn out a brilliant sci-fi concept. TOS barely scraped the bottom of the barrel with what the series could do.
@@aleksandarmarkovic221 it's natural to like what you grew up with. TOS had many different alien creatures concepts besides humanoid guys with funny heads like in TNG, DS9, that's all. So tell me, what was the prime mission of the Enterprise? Hmmmm?
Not every original series episode was great, just as not every later series episode was great. The point (and I'm sure Rod would agree) is that we keep returning to that dark place to examine our fears, to learn about ourselves. Rod gave that place its most accurate name, The Twilight Zone, but it is not some sacred series, something to be locked away in our cultural past, untouchable by any who come later and want to tell new stories. No, the Twilight Zone is forever, lurking with us, often just out of sight.

Honestly I don’t know why people dislike the 02 one, it’s not amazing but the music at the end of it sounds great and the logo is a good reinvention

'85 version was my first experience and I guess my favorite because of this. I'm really enjoying going back and watching the original episodes now, though. Way ahead of their time and an obvious inspiration for a ton of modern entrainment.

Very good! I was in 8th grade when this began its run on TV. Loved it from the first episode.
Love the one from the 80's and it is a bit more unique as they didn't try to have a narrator to compete with the great Rod Serling's narration.
The best is still the 2nd version used in the 1st season in my opinion, though I love the reverse blowing of the title card in season 4 and 5.

The best SERIES was obviously the original from the 50s... but the best OPENING IMHO is the one from the 80s, it's so creepy and includes that brief homage to Serling which was nice touch.
I immediately recognized the voice in the opening to the movie version. It's Burgess Meredith. You may know him as "The Obsolete Man."

The 2002 Intro looks and sounds like a commercial for a Twilight Zone based ride in Great America.
It was a nice touch for the 1983 movie to get Burgess Meredith as the narrator.
Every one was REALLY good... EXCEPT the 2002-2003 version. You made it into a 1980’s rock tune...INSTEAD OF the creepy... nails down your back intro... there was a REASON WHY the creepy music worked. It brought you into a mysterious place no one encountered.. a place that metaphorically puts butterflies into your stomach... a place you are scared to enter..but while you’re there...afraid to leave... a place called.... the...T W I L I G H T Z O N E
Korn, or Limp Bizkit, or one of those other crappy bands made it I believe. A friend of mine used to like the 2002 TZ the best. We aren't friends anymore.

Loved them all! Began watching The Twilight Zone in the 2000s with Forest Whitaker hosting it but have since went back to watch all the classics! Forever one of my favorite shows!
Thanks for the upload... I love Rod, but the 80s version is always my favorite... Grateful Dead... flash of RS... so cool. And the 2002 version by Korn isnt bad, just different. And I like it as I know we have TZ coming up... cant wait to see what Jordan Peele has in store in 2019.

The infamous guitar riff is awesome but the swells and unsettling unease of the reformatted version (2nd one used in the video) always sets my teeth on edge. The guitar riff is the impending danger...But that weird small swell is the understanding that you are in danger and have been for quite some time now. Unnerving stuff!

Came back here after the new show premiered and they nailed it so hard! The opening uses a combination of the narration from the first and second seasons, with a new arrangement of the classic season 2-5 theme, with mysterious otherworldly visuals inspired by the original series, plus the classic logo! AND they even used the original credits music from seasons 2+ at the end! Somebody finally paid due respect to this show!
Brilliant video. Been looking for all the intros. Glad you made this. Saw old series in repeats. The 80s version I saw as kid on tv but did not start here until 1987 when I was 4. The theme sounded so freaky. Did not like the 2002 one.

The intro of the series in the 80s seems more terrifying to me. I was 6 years old when I saw it and it scared me. The image of a rural area seen from the window of an old room at night... it was exactly like my grandparents' countryside. I still get chills when I see it today (with 44 year old)
