@@ahrichards5241 Is there a way to emulate this game with the correct sound ?, I tried samples and the latest version of mame (0.235), but it sounds very bad.
Just a little tip. On level 3 you keep running and then stopping to pause before jumping the first barrel that goes across the screen. No need... just run to the right as soon as the level starts and jump once over nothing but then continue to run and you can jump the blue barrel perfectly. Jumping is slower than running and that first jump slows you enough to make the jump over the blue barrel.
In the first level. Stand on the edge of the second steel bar. Jump backwards out of screen to win the level. Cant believe I remember this. It was 40 years ago.
For level 3, keep jumping until the Blue Barrel comes down then jump again while holding right at the same time then go up and avoid the hammer, keep jumping barrels if you steer Mario left and right while in between the ladders, you can control the barrels to go down, you're actually endangered if you're on the left side of the screen, you want to be in the middle or the right, then you get the second hammer and smash them and then instantly go to the right ladder and then keep moving left and right so that the barrels go down then go up and jump the last few sets of barrels then go up, it's really not an easy level. But if you know the tips you can get through it, not always on your first try though. I got very lucky on my first try.
The fire dudes on the arcade version look a lot easier to deal with than the NES version. In the NES version the fire is so unpredictable lol. I still don't quite understand how to deal with it. :P On a difference note, I knew the NES version was different, but I didn't know it was this different. Really interesting actually. I'm still happy with my 500 Wii point purchase of the NES one though :)
last night i was at a bar arcade in denver called the 1 up and they had donkey kong donkey kong jr and mario bros arcade machines and it was so much fun to finally play donkey kong on an actual arcade machine i grew up on the nes port
@MrMichaelEdie You can see the column because the refresh frequency and timing of the monitor is not synchronized with the camera that is filming it. There is no column on the screen when you look at it in real life, it's just how the camera 'see's' it.
Actually, the arcade machine was launched in 1981 and NES in 1985. The moment you said “way before” you meant 4 years after launch. And also, “way before” means a decade or older.
I don't want to sound crass, but you are playing the levels the wrong way if you want to maximize the amount of points you get per level, you don't have to stay on each level for 1,000,000 scores, but if you want to break 100,000 you should research the best ways to tackle each level. Or not.
Ah, a Billy Mitchell reference. Funny that even on a video with just the plain old arcade machine, the joke has traveled that far. His reputation is definitely rock bottom these days...
The video shows the original hardware on what the player is playing, black joystick with blue buttons. This is what Billy Mitchell supposed to use, but instead, according to investigators, he used the emulated hardware on red joystick with white buttons.
Exactly, for example, the Nes version doesn't have the level two,it only has 3 levels, also the screen's smaller,Pauleen is put in the wrong place,it doesn't have all the little umbrellas, and bonus points, also for other reasons... so if he thinks the Nes version sucks than the Wii version, well I think (in my opinion) that i prefer the wii version is better since it has everything that the arcade does, just think of the Nes as a mini game for DK
That beautiful black joystick, not like the fake red one
The good old arcade game we all love😎
Yep :-)
Love the real sounds.
MAME's been messing it up for years.

@@claudiomunoz9539 There's no perfect emulation.
That joystick doesn't look red to me Bully Mitchell does it look red for you?
When I saw that you were selling it, I didn't expect such good play. Much better than what I did.

So is that a glitch way of winning the first level?

Actually, not even NES! Arcade machines for donkey kong came way before the NES version
