Interesting. I would love to hunt the west, but for now, especially with the winter kills, I’ll stay here in the midwest and manage our whitetail. Pennys on the dollar, and target rich environment. Maybe someday I’ll hunt those beautiful western states…
I have watched these and others for 5+ years so it is a tradition for me and I have a really good idea how most of these state draws work. Sadly I have yet to apply in those 5 years for one reason or another. This video is about the hunt that I WAS going to do and have been talking about for years. That being a mule deer and pronghorn combo rifle hunt. I have 4 points for each. I even thought about doing special pronghorn since they are going to double the special price next year. But with the very harsh winter die off and the fact that I am from the east and my wife and I are looking for a house to get our family out of this two bedroom apartment I am sadly not going once again. Next year I will have 5 points each, but with the folks who would potentially put into the special draw people jumping into the regular, point creep is going to sadly jump up quite a bit making my odds to get into a pronghorn unit with more than 20% huntable public land even worse. I still might try and just go next year and give the herd another year of rest and hopefully restoration. Thanks for sharing as always Randy.
Don’t do it this year. Dead antelope and deer everywhere in the south west. Me being a resident I won’t be applying for deer or antelope tags. Even for my kids first year hunting
I drive the oil fields in central Wyoming 5 days a week. There are so many dead pronghorns that the scavengers can't eat them all. Hills with 30 40 carcasses on. Deer did not do much better.
My wife's uncle had max pts for deer and finally decided to put in for hunts in '19 and again in '20 and couldn't draw so literally gave up and let his pts go! Now his son is considering doing the same thing! Me, I'll eventually draw a tag and then drop them like a hot rock!
Gave up applying for any western points last year. Drawing anything semi decent seems impossible with pt creep and changing rules. I guess if more are like me it’ll get slightly better
Randy, when I I applied for Antelope doe and buck tags today for my first western hunt possibility, it asked if I wanted 1 or 2 doe tags. Is there an implication that I can put in for two different areas for Doe tags, 1 tag each, both as first choice hunts?
Our pronghorn population has been wiped out by 75% by some estimates this year. They have delayed and even said there would be no drawing tags for some areas. Don't come hunt here. I'm looking at you Utah.
I live in a great state for western hunting and would love to go see other states and explore but the cost for out of state tags is to much for me hopefully that will change.
Take lots of money so a Nonresident can hunt on their own land, considering most of the hunting takes place on Federal Lands such as the National Forest, National Wilderness Areas, National Bureau of Land Management Lands, and selected National Monuments . All this and the Federal Treasury(paid by Nonresidents) contributes about 31.8% to the Wyoming State Budget for 2022………. Prices are going through the roof for Elk, Deer and Antelope. Trophy Species such as Sheep, Goat Nonresident tags are being cut in half…….. Fair?
The PLPW program got a makeover a while ago actually. It's now called Access Yes
Non resident here....good luck with that! Ive noticed priveleged hunters seemingly get drawn and no one else does...or rarely do

If he had max points and couldn't draw the problem isn't the point system... It's him! There's no reason he couldn't get a tag
I withdrew our applications this year due to the recommendations I read last month by wygfd. Hope the antelope recover quickly.
Thanks, Randy!

Randy you goin to do one of these types of videos for Arizona deer and sheep? Thank you.
That one goes up next Monday!

The real question is, what will Randy do now that Nissan has canceled the Titan?
These point systems have turned hunting into a rich man’s game, I don’t think that will be good for the sport long-term.

Hope is not a good strategy.
It will change, it’ll get even more expensive.

This year Point creep was awful for NR Elk. Wow
Does anyone know how Wyoming treats youth. Do they compete for the same tags with adults?
they do. there are no tags allocated specifically for youth hunters
Remember some areas were decimated while others did just fine. The whole state didnt lose 75% of there pronghorn...
Life long in Wyoming. Not hunting this year. Give them a break.
Best to skip Wyoming for deer and antelope this year. The winter kills were terrible. The herds are decimated. #letadeerwalk
I think I'll shoot prairie dogs and eat Ribeye's!
No point in even hunting Wyoming this year. I live there and the wildlife got destroyed in the winter this year
I’ll buy a preference point but I ain’t applying for at least 2-3 years
