She Lived Alone For 20 YEARS ~ Abandoned Mansion in Luxembourg

Our modern world seems to be constantly on the move, but there are some places where time has permanently stopped and nobody seems to care about them anymore. This happened to the former house of the family Meus, after the last inhabitant Miss Susan passed away, there was nobody left to take care of the property and the time stopped forever. For the better part of 2 decades, Susan lived in this wonderful grand house all on her own. But there is something strange about this place, the lights still shimmer on the belongings that are left behind, in other words, the power is still working, this makes questions arise, who is still paying for it and why? Before it got abandoned this house used to be the home of a Luxembourgish family, they were the owners of a rather large convenience store in the center of town.
They even accommodated a deprived worker of the store to live in a special apartment inside their house. The family was well respected for it and received a lot of love from the citizens of the town.
Today we will try to answer the strange questions that arise around this home and solve its mystery.

I must say it was a relief, when you found a front door after all…..(down the stairs). I had a horrible picture of that poor woman climbing that rickety old ladder to enter her home from that barn, as you did. This video left me with unanswered questions though…..as seemed like a crazy floor plan. I can’t help but wonder who built and planned this odd type of home. Perhaps it was rented out sections of the house, as it appeared multiple kitchens…..but only noticed one bathroom. Thanks as always for your most interesting tour of of abandoned homes. See you again in your next visit. 💋🧚🏻‍♀️

The home is old. Lot's of additions and modernizing over the decades - perhaps centuries. Not unusual to find in Europe.

Every time I see one of these I am more determined to buy a rural mountain hostel- so that until I die I can be surrounded by adventurous young people! My house where I live alone is just too similar to most of these- I even have a 1903 Singer.... :(

I'm now in my 60s I think we're did my life go why does it speed up so fast as we get older it's scary how quickly our lives come and go so fast.when I started a family it felt like I had forever to do things but you don't once your kids start teenage years you will not have them for long the younger years are a blessing to hold onto and to do alot for yourself and your kids before it gets too late to make beutiful memories. I'm glad I had but IV made mistakes I wish I hadn't thou ,I find grandkids are second chances to do it better you learn as you get older what's so important,I don't wont togo to my grave with regrets. I love my life.

Hey Lesley, love Susan's home, it was the unending house, there were doors after doors. It was such an unusual way to enter the house, that ladder looked so scary, please be careful! Susan was very neat, I don't think I have ever seen a house that neat. She was very religious, when you went up to the attic, there was a cross with Jesus Christ hanging up on the wood. Great exploring, stay safe, love ya!

That chair in her bedroom...FANTASTIC!! The crystal in the cabinet...wow. The painting of the forest, so pretty! You can feel the life in the kitchen. So strange to have the new part of the house built into the old part. I just wish we could've gone out the front door, to see what she saw.

Please I like watching your video of castles but I am interested in the architecture si to see the castles outside facade is very imp for me. Most castles abandoned anyway have been vandalized or used by sqaters I do not think any owners would have thrown book all over on floors, so please always show the facade. Everything once you cherished, will left alone to rot. Your loving self when you leave this life, will turn to dust. Home that once was your peaceful heaven, will be home for spiders. We are all here on this earth, on a temporary basis, isn't that so? What we should gather then...? Neither money nor any kind of physical property but relief...peace of mind. Seek only for relief, live happily and die happily. This is what I learn to firmly believe from your videos dear Lesley, and let me thank you thousand times for this. Stay safe! Love from Sri Lanka!

Heyy Lesley, how wonderful to watch an Urbex video in the middle of the week! - How great is that! - That is a very nice mansion.
Incredible to see all the furniture and a lot of other personal items in such an untouched shape - and of course to see the electricity
still working. - The furniture and the pictures on the walls of that nearly empty room looked like a museum. - I found the walking
dresser of the lady of this mansion quite fascinating to see with all her clothes left abandoned in the wardrobes, as if she would
    return in any moment.
The living room with the very comfortable sofa, armchairs and the beautiful cabinets with the displayed glasses was very beautiful
to see, - actually a legit time capsule.
Wonderful explore, my friend! I enjoyed watching, - and once more it was so nice to see how respectfully and with great tenderness
you were approaching the history of this mansion and the background story of the former owners. - These empty rooms, you found in
that mansion, were on the other hand somehow strange to see. What might have been the purpose of that empty living space?
Take care, stay safe, dear bro, and I am of course looking very much forward to your next explore adventure.
Many hugs and blessings! - Peace and kindest regards.

It's called secretary desk. A smaller version of a roll top desk. The difference being the size but it has the drop down surface to write on, whereas the roll top does not.

There is such a lonely sadness there. I can’t imagine living completely alone for 20 years after my husband had passed away. I can only imagine the dreams they had of traveling when they would retired and finally have time to relax and be together. He was taken away too soon and so was she...Did they have any children?. The chest in her wedding picture was probably an family heirloom that was given to her for marriage..

I know Luxembourg very well as I was stationed in the U.S. Army about 45 km across the border in Germany. It was very old fashioned in Germany where the farmers drove their tractors to church on Sundays but just across the river/border in Luxembourg, it was very new and modern! Beautiful countryside with villas and modern conveniences unlike across the river in Germany where I witnessed a farmer pushing a plow as his wife pulled it!!!

You are brave of searching those hause that has been left for so many years. It was sad to know their story. Hoping the relatives of this owner will take care of this property.

I very much look forward to Sundays when a new video comes out and it was a nice surprise to have one yesterday when I least suspected one! Thank you! I keep coming back because of the respect you give to the home and the people that no longer live there. What I look for in each video is the sewing machines that are in most everyone you have done (reminds me of my mother's singer with the pedal). Thank you for what you do! Dennis

Dalle mille stanze sempre in movimento. Grazie ragazzi per tutti i viaggi e racconti. E sempre con grazia.

@Bos of Decay, What a gorgeous home this is.
The coffee table was covered with sigar labels. My hubby was a sigar smoker so I'm familiar with most I saw. This home is also very clean compared to most abandoned homes I saw here.

We used to call the desk a “ secretary “ for storing and writing letters. Beautiful home Leslie . Nice segment. Leslie, There must be another entrance to the home besides that ladder . How the heck did all that heavy furniture get in there? Note: That bed and dresser in the attic. Can you imagine sleeping up there?

As a fellow Mrs. Susan, there is such a large space to explore. I always wonder how homes in Europe and Canada heat those attics and basements when no one is staying there. Must be expensive! Thanks for tour!❤️

He hardly opens any drawers anymore. He spends his time commenting on the chairs and chandeliers and Singer sewing machines and things you can see when you glance in the room. At least we got to see wedding photos this time!!!
