Mister Martin lived in this grand Luxembourgish farm together with his six children and his wife Mariel. They were known as the happy farming family because they were always seen together and participated in and organized lots of activities around the charming historic village. Unfortunately, his wife passed away early on in their relationship, this left him to care alone for his 6 children at first he managed. But over time the burden got too high for him and he grabbed towards alcohol to cope with his problems, this lead to a spiral of abuse and addiction where he never recovered from… His children left him one by one until he eventually had nobody left to take care of him. In the fall of 2011, Mister Martin was rushed to the hospital for an alcohol overdose from which he never recovered. The children don’t seem to care about the house he had left behind, the resale value is slim to none in this remote part of Luxembourg, so ever since his passing it has been slowly withering away until Mother Nature claims it for herself once again.

Mr. Martin, although married young , he and his wife were very successful farmers. A beautiful home. It appears the loss of his wife caused chronic depression which was not treated. Everyone deals with the pain of loss in different ways.

Awww it breaks my heart that he became incapable of caring for his children thru grief!! They were grieving too.
Superb explore. Type tractor and Bailing equipment is just amazing. A lovely lovely little house.
Just can’t get the picture of the children out of my head.
As a mum of 5 and grandparent of 13+ it’s breaks me!

It must have been so hard watching their father grieve so much over the loss of their mother. I hope they are together once more and found happiness at rest. Such a beautiful home. I can't believe that none of their children would not want to keep the place. It must hold nothing but bad memories for them. Thank you for another fascinating tour into the lives of the people who once made that home. 👍✌️

Hi dear Lesley, That was such an incredibly sad background story about the farmer who was due to the loss of his beloved wife
lost in the addiction with alcohol. - You told this story again in such a wonderful way in the introduction of your video with
beautifully formulated words, that I got tears only from listening to you! - Wow, Lesley, my dear friend, how absolutely wonderful!
Also the location was very interesting and nice to see. Some parts were still - despite of evident decay traces - still in quite
a good state and looking really like frozen in some moment of time. I loved once more your absolutely highly respectful
approach to the touching and sad background story as well as to the location itself with all the items left there, which
you explored in that abandoned farmhouse in Luxemburg.
Thank you, dear buddy, for taking us viewers through a once more very memorable Urbex location and documenting it in
such a sensitive and highly compassionate way. - I wish you all the best and blessings, lots of fun and new inspirations
together with your friend Maureno on your grand tour.
Stay safe, my dear bro, many hugs, peace and kindest regards from now rather cold and snowy Switzerland.

We were once very close but then he grew up and chose to leave his family. We have an amazing family; his Grandparents are still alive. His Aunts and Uncles mourn as I do. You can't force anyone to be in your life. It's sad, heartbreaking but all we can do is give them up to GOD! HE will sort it out, one day, I pray! Blessings!

Maybe this is why single mother concept is more common than single father. I'm not belittling him, he must have tried his best in taking care of his children. It's also not an easy task to care about 6 children single handedly. I really feel sorry for him and also for the children. Money can't buy you inner peace and they might have felt it deeply. I hope his children got better life later.
This enormous house is really nice. I loved that violin shaped barometer. This house had less number of toilets with respect to the bedrooms and also the family members.
I feel the worst human activity is consumption of alcohol. It has destroyed many relationships, many lives in the past and doing in the present and keep on doing in future until we destroy this bad habit.
The way you showed respect towards Mr. Martin that's remarkable. He'd be very happy if he's watching your documentary from somewhere.
I felt the weather from your dressing pattern, you usually don't wear warm clothes until it's actually very cold.
I definitely enjoyed all the parts, especially that one when you turned on the switch and the whole kitchen lit up and the background music started, that was something heavenly feeling. Max times little occurrences make me so much happy by touching my soul directly. It radiates so much positivity which I'm not able to describe.
Take care. Stay blessed, happy and healthy. 👍👍🙏🙏😇😇

Heartbreaking that his children gave up on there dad and left him when he needed them the most its obvious just looking in at his life he was a broken man after loosing his wife some people find it very hard to deal with when they loose their wife or the other way around maybe if some of the children stayed he may have been able to cope a little better i understand that he was an alcoholic and its an illness that needs help to get better but he couldn't do it alone by the looks of things he just gave up its a very sad story told with compassion 😢

I really enjoyed going through the house with you and the stories you were able to tell. It was all very interesting. You also reminded us the real people actually live there. And real things actually happened there.
I also have to chuckle at all the cobwebs you need to point out to us and show us. I remember you saying you do not appreciate them at all!!

Thank u Leslie for sharing Mr. Martin's story and home!! u are so very loving, caring and so sincerely respectful in all of ur explorations which I know all of ur fans truly admire that about u as well as appreciate it!! Poor Mr. Martin....the day his dear wife died, he felt apart of him had died as well that day...it must of left him in such a deep depression that the only thing that helped numb his pain was when he drank...but unfortunately it destroyed his relationships with his children which is so sad to hear...so he must have felt so totally alone. 😢 *Which we all could agree how scary and how horrible that would be for anyone!! But I know he is now happy once again together in Heaven with Mrs. Martin!! May they both R.I.P🙏 Much love as always from the states💜

I'm wondering why the door to the basement is so blocked? Are they keeping something in the basement they don't want to let out? ;)
    This a really sad story.

The Singer sewing machine was there. It folds down into the table and hides away.

No final do vídeo, no Sotom onde há uma saleta com paredes pretas e ganchos pendurados, esse local era usado para defumar carnes.

He had a happy life with his wife and six children then he lost his wife he must of been so devastated and depressed maybe he also had no one to turn to for help I wonder if he was a only child I do hope his children can forgive him even tho he is gone I loved all the vintage things you showed us in his home 43:46
