Joe Haley changed my life the first time I heard him / Psycroptic. I hope, but doubt, that I will come across another musician in my lifetime who has as great of an impact on me.
Not the same style of music but Thomas Erak from Fall of Troy has some absolutely insane playing also. Probably the only other guitarist to impact me the same way Joe Haley has! It's more math rock than metal and I can't stand the singing lol but the guitar work is out of this world.
I've been working for 3 years and have only learned about an album worth of his shit... This dude's a BEAST but absolutely both are great choices. I'm more familiar with Haley myself.
Dude, I literally just woke up thinking about how it would be cool to see something new from Joe. You´re a damn psychic, man! And it´s my favorite Psycro song, too!
Some of my favorite riffing by you. I saw in another comment you were hesitant to do more detailed videos breaking down your stuff. Joe, you could talk like Fran Drescher and thousands of us guitar players would still be hanging onto your every word. You should do a guest spot with Dean Lamb to get your name out there some more. You deserve way more credit in extreme metal circles than you get. Love you man!
I just started listening to them this year, went back to this album and my GOD haven't got a hard on that fast since I first heard ......And justice For All when i was 13!! Joe and this band are one of my favorite bands I had never heard of. ;o) The new album rocks as well. He plays lead guitar as rhythm!!
Joe haley as a guitarist has been such a big idol and influence to me and my own playing, and psycroptic, since first listening has become my favourite band, so original riffs and composure, big thanks to you for doing what you do and making amazing music, greetings from finland🤘🏼
I know you're concentrating like you have to but, your arms and hands seem so relaxed. It's amazing to watch. Real close to being my favorite song by you guys.
From your playing to your tone to your nuances in detail - You are so unique!! I absolutely love how you play. Youre uses of hammer-ons/offs with quick yet smooth transitions from riffs to riffs is undeniably one of a kind. I love your shit, dude! Keep on going
Joe your riffage is awesome! I just learned you’ve been around for many years but I have never heard or seen your stuff, truly masterful! And that Ormsby!!
Joe, you are without a doubt the "Dimebag" of today. Amazing riff/song machine, can bust a tasty solo whenever you want, and even when things get fast and technical you know how to keep it groovy.
that' my favourite song, too. I've been practising it but damn fucking so hard to play that legato parts. It sounds fluent but its not easy at all! Thanks for sharing this playthrough, you rock ! \m/,
Hey Joe I have a gear question... I'm wondering what you do to get such a clean tone from what appears to be a single coil pickup despite an obviously high gain? What're your plugins and settings looking like? What kind of beer do you drink? These are the hard hitting questions that keep me up at night.
Next time I make another post about guitar players on steemit.com I'll have to include this one... or you could do it yourself. :) A pretty cool community... I'm currently doing a series I call the Metal Tree.
Is there a specific reason you never threw some solos into Psycroptic albums? I always felt like it would complete them a little more. Not just because that's the norm, but because it would sound good. You can obviously rip, so that doesn't seem to be an issue. Anyway, have been a fan of yours for, shit, since I first got Sceptre of the Ancients. Wish you guys went more into the tech death direction, with the vocals at least, but I still appreciate your music. Your riffing has always been so heavy, like you just have an ear for it.m Edit: looks like some of the new songs have solos, nice
RobSchneiderIsAStapler cheers man, thanks for the support - glad you dig our stuff! As for solos in psycro, I guess I've never really written any parts that have really demanded it. I've never really thought "gotta chuck a solo over that part!". I've put a solo over a section of the "soul..." vid as there is no vocals and leaves it open for something interesting, but other than that it's never jumped out at me. Maybe on the upcoming album - guess we'll just have to wait and see..

You ain't bout shit
Love that riff at 3:16 so much. Such a cool riff.
Awesome. Best Guitarist in the Fricking world!! What a boss.
Patrick Neumayer loomis bro but ya joe haley is da man
Jeffrey George they both have different styles of writing music but both are legitimate opinions.
I've been working for 3 years and have only learned about an album worth of his shit... This dude's a BEAST but absolutely both are great choices. I'm more familiar with Haley myself.

What a tone, what a skill. Amazing player and awesome band.
God of guitar fills.
I was thinking "damn that's clean and the tone is remarkably close to the original", then I saw who you were.
I was about to comment that this is one of the best covers i've seen so far

2:17 : A riff so catchy even Joe is feeling it.
aliascent it's actually the tremolo speed that's a bit challenging
@@Neo_metallum What?? The leggato part is way more harder!!
@@Neo_metallum lol no that is like one of the easiest things about this song
Agreed. Picking every note way harder than legato IMO
Youre def going down in metal history as one of the best riffers ever

Yay, new guitar playthrough from Joe!
It's always great to see new videos posted!
Favorite techdeath for a decade. The grooviest, and it's never cacophony. I don't know how you do it man haha

There are three things you can watch forever: fire, water, and Joe plays the guitar.
Just started learning this song last night. Ultra convenient.
Amazing! Some of the best riffs in metal!

Are you kidding? This riff work is amazing.
come back to Instagram, Joe, we miss you dearly.
Dat homie cold as ice.
Awesome technique 😮

that' my favourite song, too. I've been practising it but damn fucking so hard to play that legato parts. It sounds fluent but its not easy at all! Thanks for sharing this playthrough, you rock ! \m/,

Badass man, love it.
1:24. Has anyone ever attempted a slide while the left hand is playing something quite complicated and it sounded good? Didn't think so ...

Amazing man!!!
Super guitar player !!top , love your style
Your picking is perfect! There's not a shred of unnecessary movement. Damn, you're good.
This is a whole new level of Badassery. Holy shit. My favorite Psycroptic song for sure!

Really good man, it would be awesome if you play Skin Coffin some day, Keep it up!
Quality.
Fantastic playthrough as always, Joe! Mind playing Horde in Devolution next? I'd love to see you play that!
Hmm, dunno if I've actually got a backing track that I could use for that one. Might have to have a rummage around and see what I can come up with...
you're such a fucking beast. also, your tone is just impeccable!
Class act🤘
riffs increibles de este tema, saludos master!!
What a badass
That tone though...
Joe, you're the epitome of my envy. That is all.
I know its a brutal well written song, but its also beautiful, in a Metal way.
Whats the bpm for this song??
Next time I make another post about guitar players on steemit.com I'll have to include this one... or you could do it yourself. :) A pretty cool community... I'm currently doing a series I call the Metal Tree.
Holy shite. Love it. 🤘🏼
I have to say this song wasn't initially one of the better tracks of the album, but the last 1/2 or more is pure ear ecstasy.
2:01

Playthrough the Cold please,Joe!
Vergil Li no worries. I'll post it in a few days. :)
Wow~! That is the song that make me into the band~Nice job sir!
Joe Haley is a cyborg.
Can we hope for a backing track ? :)
What do you run your guitar through? The sound is so clear and tight
I'd like to know the same. His guitar tone is awesome.
amazing!
What model SR bass is that laying beside you?
Why has no one made a lesson on this 😭

Guys, on a scale to 1 to 10, how hard is this on guitar?
There's probably someone who will say it's a 2 and they learnt it after 3 months of guitar, but I would put this at a 7.5 - 8.
@@altmaster3288 11 Because I'm a Drummer! ;o)
