excellent video! I've been looking for hours for the right video on ascending and descending pathways, and this is both informative and engaging! Tysm!
Well explained video! It makes me also think of the fear-pain-cyclus. Where fear for pain, leads to tention which causes more pain. And this pain leads to more fear, and so on.
Love your style of teaching. I teach using the whiteboard too. So helpful. I also appreciate your explanation of everything. Your videos helped me so much for my uni exams. Thank you!
I don't know if he is a reaaaally good teacher or if its his mcdreamy look but all in all I finallyyy understood this part of neurophysiology thank you
Very educational, thank you! Wanted to know a bit more about pain relief since my cat bit me at the vet the other day. Got me thinking, if serotonin and opioids are released for pain relief that could possibly explain why some people with depression cut themselves.
Is the enkephalin synapse the same kind of synapse that is mentioned within the Gate Control theory? :) Great video, such a great visualization and explained well!
Hats of to you sir....I could not get this concept clearly from book, this video makes it crystal clear but you didn't explain pre and post synaptic inhibition by encaphalinergic interneuron i.e neurotransmitter block and K+ channel block.... add it sir...
Great video .... could you do a video about how they identify the receptors and the various Brian pathways so accurately. I mean micro details not the macro. Thank you 🙏
When we are experiencing a lot of pain it's easy to think that our endogenous pain relief isn't doing very much but I had ABGs taken shortly after giving birth and couldn't feel anything more than a slight nudging at my wrist, so something was working.
Great lecture. Does this activation of the analgesic pathway by pain in one area of the body provide some body-wide analgesia? Or is it more focused than that? I've noticed when I eat pepper the mild burn in my mouth will stop a mild headache. Thanks
In my experience, getting whipped is like taking a high dose of xanax, except you don't feel foggy, just kinda clear afterwards. And yeah, whole body. Obviously hard to OD or get addicted, it's exquisitely painful and thus only really an emergency fix.
@@spiritlevelstudiosi guess you're new to the world. That's how it works. Injury causes the body to release opioids it produces to counteract the pain. But if methods that just cause pain, without real injury are used, such as e.g. wide belts, you just get the opioids in exchange for brief, intense pain. It's pretty funny, because e.g. religious ascetics sometimes whip themselves on a faith basis. In essence and in effect, what they're doing is not much different than chewing down on some oxy pills. Still, it's impressive, because inflicting serious enough pain on yourself to trigger the opioid release is not easy, at all.
Dr Mike you so simply and clearly explain in 10 mins what my teachers cannot explain even after hours of lectures.
Roger Federer makes tennis look easy, DR MIKE makes neuroscience look easy.
Quality of the great. Thank you, namaste.
Thank you so much from the bottom of my ♥

Is it a coincidence that enkephalin has a similar sound to encephalitis?

The cross section of spinal cord is wrong
If my Dr looked like Dr Mike my periaqueductal gray would explode.
Lol
Physique🔥
Very nice review; however, you stubbed your toe, then mapped the toe to the lip/face area of the SI.
May you please do a video on DNA?
