Man I think for a phone that's 6 years old its performance is great. I still got one that's used only for reading on iBooks or Kindle. Love it. Great screen and A12 Bionic still doing not bad after 6 years
Bsck in the days xs max was such a beast it's crazy. Me and My uncle used to glaze this phone (not in a toxic matter) now times have changed. It is impressive to see the drastic difference of a older Iphone to a newer one
There is no drastic difference, quite the opposite acutally considering the age gap. You are too young so you have never experienced an actual "drastic" difference in phone / smartphone evolution
You and your uncle used to WHAT?! i mean, for iphone that released like 6 years ago compared to the latest iphone, i don't think there is like drastic difference. it's just new machine, new gimmicks from apple "oh but the 16 pro max is 3 seconds faster than xs max" imagine after 6 years and the difference just little like that
@@nickackermanchannel totally correct and that was when I got my xs max and didnt really need the feel to ever upgrade only until now that too after running out the storage due to the 64gb variant!!
I’m loving these comparisons, the XS Max looks almost as small as the regular Pro model’s now, the difference from a XS Max to the 16 Pro Max isn’t much in day to day usage but the differences in graphics and CPU intensive tasks, the differences are huge, but overall it’s impressive that the XS Max is even still usable in 2024.
It is still supported, however, I would not prefer that you put update 18 on it, but its brother is previous x. Its performance is dead. Every match is counted as dead.
I updated my XS max today to IPhone 16 pro Max . What a difference , cameras . Brightness . Speaker volume . Face ID . Display , 5G . It was time I have not updated but decided now was time as battery hit 76% on max and this is last year IOS update support
The problem I've seen with the XS and 11 Pro now is that there's random large lag spikes sometimes when swiping out of apps (especially the camera) or other random times, finding new podcasts will freeze it all up, opening safari and hitting new tab will take a while to respond etc.. The 4GB is catching up to it, in a way that even such a speed test might not fully show, even though you can see the 16 is faster already. I can be filling out a form in one app, go check one other thing and come back to it right away, and the form is gone. Apple makes amazing chips but doesn't really future proof on RAM enough.
@@promo2099 I don't expect that. Leaks about changing the charging port have been coming since the iPhone 11, hahahahaha, and it hasn't changed until the 15+. The iPhone Ultra has been leaking for three years and we haven't seen it.

I bought the 16 pro max and i used it for 10+ days. It is a lot faster than my previous xs max but it is heavier, center of gravity is worse, and i was taking a lot of unwanted pictures due to awkward new camera button. I went back to xs max and i dont regret it a bit. Dont be brainwashed on the new design….
Its absolutely wild how much bigger the phones have become. When I took my XS Max out of the box years back, I thought...there's no way you can make a phone bigger. Also the Bezel difference is enormous.
1k$ difference in price is also quite substantial. I’ve bought my last xs max for 150$. It’s on iOS 17. And it performs way better than yours. Yours got some extreme choppiness, mine doesn’t. I totally agree with u though. If my phone was acting the way yours does - upgrading time. Not gonna update to iOS 18 now, thanks. I was considering.
What I do is in the morning I open all the apps that I'll be needing for the day, and just leave them running in the background. When I open them they just pop up immediately without loading it from the start. Saves time.
This video sums up why I always go back to iPhone. Knowing that your phone will work well and get updates for 5+ years is good peace of mind. Luckily Samsung seems to be going this route now as well.
Please do the iphone 16 pro max against the galaxy s10.🙌 since the xs and s10 both came out around the same time it'll be interesting to see how the old samsung performs against the new iphone
It would be interesting to compare the iPhone 16 Pro Max on iOS 18 vs the iPhone XS Max on iOS 12 to see if iPhones are really still feel like they’re getting faster.

I still have my 10s max and it works fine, I think the upgrade to iOS 18 is what is making the phone work slower in these tests, tho I do have times where loading seems slow. I usually wait until I have to upgrade so I can feel that big jump in how different and better it has become, like how it use to be.
I wish they'd go back to the design of the X thru 11. The feel in the hand was so much better and they didn't have that giant barnacle on the back that makes is feel like you've got some squared-off chunk of electronics in your pocket.
Why the xs screen look sharper and also more natural? The brightness (or saturation) on the 16 pro max makes the text less sharp and less details overall
My battery oh the xs max with the beta update is gone the only way I could use my phone is on low battery mode or plug in For my fellow xs max users, I upgraded to the 16 pro max and so far love it!! You can feel and see the difference between them!
FaceID works fast in total darkness even on my iPhone X so the lightning argument is kinda sketchy. Viewing angles and processing have been improved though.
Fast face print but the x processor is bad. The minimum now is xs. Many mid-range devices have processors equivalent to xs or only slightly better and do not reach the level of 11.
Honestly if it weren't for the ease of which the glossy glass gathers fingerprints I'd say it looks better than the matte glass we have with most devices these days. It's a worthy trade off though I guess so the device doesn't turn into a slippery mess using it without a case. It really feels like smartphones plateaued ever since Apple launched the iPhone X when the battle to shrink the bezels started
Hey nick ackerman why do you never do any old android flagships and see how they hold up we get it that the iphones do way better but can we atleast see something different like the android ones the android flagship from lets say 2017 and they versus one in 2024 and also versus a iphone from that same year to a modern one i wish you will do that cause i always wondered how older android flagships like samsung, xiaomi, oneplus and pixel age and perform when they get older
with brand new phones i think it takes a little while for companies to dial in and optimise the new chips therefore the xsmax i think booted up quicker but come with time the 16 should do it much quicker i think so
That still doesn’t answer the question. Everyone knows new software on very old hardware means slowdowns. The software may look the same to you as a user, but I can assure you the stuff under the hood isn’t so simple. Use your brain. His XS performs way below average, as stated on the benchmark results. By definition, his phone cannot accurately represent every XS out there.
