For those who haven't experienced an Eco-Drive watch, and are put off by the "quartz" nomenclature, IMO it's an absolutely killer technical approach. They're highly shock resistant and seem to run forever with better than conventional battery watch accuracy. I have two of them running great after 20 plus years with no service and no concern about battery changes. And when and if they do fail the modules can be easily replaced.
I’m wanting a couple of Citizens, one is the PCAT, the other is the Peyten. I love the idea of Eco-Drive, it may be quartz but like you said that means better shock resistance and better accuracy. I think solar/light power brings a factor of coolness to the watch. I’m at the point now where I am not against plain old battery-powered quartz watches but I wouldn’t want to pay over $100 for one. When it get over $100 if it isn’t mechanical I want it to have solar charging and/or atomic timekeeping.
Both nice watches, but my primary concern is always time-keeping legibility. That's what I and probably most people use 99% of the time. The Peyton seems better in that respect IMO.
Well you did say you were trying to become a Citizen dealer. Excellent news for the store! Citizen Promaster models are really impressive and have been just as respected in the diving community for decades.
Congrats Marc. I believe Citizen is now a better value proposition than Seiko. The latter is pricing themselves away from the value-for-money segment, to say nothing of their continual poor QC. I'm finding it harder and harder to add further Seiko's to the 18 of their models I currently own.
@@Jake-bt3fc Maybe it’s the voice of experience vs “crying”. I agree with him. Seiko is not adding much to their lines. They rebranded with Seiko 5 but didn’t add anything.
This is exciting news and Thank you for always providing outstanding service and everything you do. I've had a Citizen titanium eco drive diver since 1999. Still works, I still wear it almost daily. What's not to love about that? I replaced the capacitor and crystal about 5 years ago, did it myself, first watch I ever took apart and no special tools. Just can't beat it for value and functionality.
I started with Seiko about 12 years……in last two years I’ve switched over to Citizen. Hands down better in quality control. Their automatic and Ecco drives are superb. They also have a lot more actual variety of designs rather a rehash of the same old same old.
I really like Citizen watches. Their solar powered quartz watches are the best on the market, IMO. I really wish that they would make some smaller watches. I also wish that they would hire a gifted industrial designer to breathe some proper design language and form/function insight into their offerings. Citizen is huge. They have it all in-house, in Japan. But, their design sense is chaotic. Their vintage watches, particularly made for railroad workers, are elegant and marvelous. They need to remake these with Eco-Quartz movements. Citizen announced last year that they are undertaking the ground up design of an entirely new mechanical movement for the luxury market. Citizen is a company to watch, pun intended.
It seems most citizen is tailored to the mall watch market (and they do very well there). I think there are some recent signs of catering to the enthusiast market though; for example the 'Tsuyosa', and the challenge diver reissue 'fujitsubo' which both look great to me. If there's one thing seiko beats citizen on hands down it's wonderful iconic designs (they have like 10+ dive models alone that are all unique and interesting). Citizen already has the value, if it can lean in and churn out some classic designs or reissues it will smash the entry level diver market wide open.
I have 3 Seikos which stopped working, yes I dropped them a number of times . I bought a Citizen and have dropped it more times than than the Seikos, after 26 years it still works. The bracelet I had to change. No complaints, got my money's worth.
i have one of the 1st models with black dial and green bezel Citizen Promaster Diver automatic. the one you have here is gorgeous with that dial and different hands. i might pull the trigger for this one.
I am lad Citizen is back in your store! It seems to me Citizen has become much more responsive to the needs and desires of collectors that Seiko is. Seiko was my go to brand for many years. In my ryes, they have lost their way. Citizen just keeps getting better!
I absolutely love that Orca. It's just a little large, but making that watch smaller would be an injustice for the design and esthetics, which is the beauty of that watch. Maybe I can convince my lady to combine birthday and Xmas a little early. I generally am turned off by something so large and oculant, but every now and then, something like this one blows me away . ❤
Congratulations from the UK on becoming a Citizen dealer, i love them. For prospective owners of the BN0150 bracelets, i have the BRAC36 featured in the video, its excellent quality and highly recommenced. It really smartens the watch up.
Mark! I’ve enjoyed your videos for quite some time. Some nice work with The Urban Gentry also. I saw this video and decided to get the Promaster Unite With Blue watch, and i got a couple of bracelets from you. The Jubilee one, and the Super J one for my sons SKX. I’m happy you listened to the fans/customers and decided to take it upon yourself to make bracelets for the Promaster! Wow, it looks nice! It’s a game changer for me. Thanks for everything!
I have a Promaster Pepsi with the blue dial and blue strap. Mine came with the taller yellow scuba tank. It’s a great watch. That bracelet looks awesome on it and I may have to get one. Congratulations on the new additions. Thanks for sharing and have a great day!
Yes, please do a video to feature your Speedmaster . I need to have dreams to reach for! Good job on getting Citizen too. Citizen is no joke. And the ISO certification on their divers says a lot.
I always found it funny that citizen called their solar movements "eco friendly" in the 70s when introduced, but solar movements use a battery to hold charge, unlike a mechanical which holds power in a mainspring. Imo, mechanical movements are more eco friendly. Glad to see you are carrying the brand, Mark. They have some great pieces.
Compared to a regular quartz watch that needed yearly replacement in the 70s, they were eco-friendly. That’s what they were talking about. Less battery waste.
Just bought the Jubilee from you guys for the ProMaster. Works well, but I couldn't get it to sit in with the supplied spring bars. I had to use some skinnier ones I had. With that problem solved, it fits great
Yes, use the Citizen spring bars, the tolerance is very close so the fat bars that come with the bracelet (BRAC70-71) may not work, or be a very tight fit but they work. I forgot to switch out the 2nd spring bar and used one of each. I used a spring bar plier tool to grab both ends of the spring bar.
Love your content Marc and especially your collabs with TGV. Congrats on all your well-deserved success. I think it's awesome you feature and celebrate so many price-accessible watches that are really cool! (If you'll allow me one small negative comment that I might take some heat for - your wrist shots are useless when you wear the watches on your hand instead of your wrist.)
I now have almost as many Citizen watches, as I do Seiko’s they have some great stuff… And with Seiko, starting to increase their prices dramatically, across-the-board citizen has filled the void for me for high quality affordable watches… And their 9000 series movements gave us 28,800 BPM in a thin package that has allowed micro brands to give us better case designs… Super reliable, and pleasing on the eye…
I was hesitant on the Orca, due to the proprietary long strap, the size. But it feels much smaller on the wrist, the strap end stays snug, without extra bunching. I wish I had bought the original titanium from years ago. I prefer the black Orca. If there was an aftermarket bracelet for it it would be great. I kind of like the NY0040 better than the Fugu. I wish Citizen sold in the USA the versions with sapphire crystal like they do in Europe (NY0100 etc). The Fugu is longer lug to lug.
A year ago I bought my first Citizen. The Citizen Chandler Chronograph. A spectacular watch. I'm in the market to pickup a more dressier, 3 hand Citizen.
I have a citizen dress watch that is about 25 years old with the eco drive and it still works today. I have to leave it near my lamp. I am surprised it still charges the battery at its age. Best of luck carrying Citizen. I don't have any other watches from them but they are the ones that make the high-beat Miyota 9000 series movements which I really like.
I’m glad you are carrying these now Mark. I have a few Eco drives and I love them. Citizen makes a quality watch in my opinion. I hope you carry more models in the future .
Thank God they’re Marc because I’ve been looking at citizens and now I can get one from somebody that I’ve done business with. I bought a Squale from you and I love it. I bought the Seiko from you for my wife she loves it. So now I’m gonna have to get a citizen from you because I’ve been looking at the dive watches
Given the weird direction Orient is going regarding their behavior towards smaller distributors lately, I think branching out to Citizen is a great move. Citizen was one of the most underrated brands for the last few years but the youtube community is really stepping up their game in recognizing them and supporting them lately. I'm in support.
Good move to start selling Citizen watches.Good watches. The one I own, a BLS, has only one fault and the is the crown does not screw down and after 10 years of wearing it I had the capacitor changed and the authorised repairer notified me that there was light corrosion on the crown shaft (plus the fact that the watch was gaining one second a month!!). The watch repairer cleaned up every thing inside the case and it will be good for another 10 years, God willing. I think that Citizen is an underrated watch company (owning a lot of very desirable watch companies) and your customers will be very happy with them. Good luck with them.
Great video, Mark. Got a couple of Citizen watches, one a Promaster 300m ISO rated driver and a field watch. Both are Eco Drive. Build quality on both is excellent but the mineral crystals scratch over time (and I've been very careful with both). My diver has a domed crystal which I noticed 2 days ago has a tiny scratch at the 3 o'clock. No idea how it got there. Lume on both is excellent. Really rate Citizen as a brand and will probably buy more. Contemplating the Tsuyosa next.
@@Flint_WestwoodI went for the black strap variant because I had to have that etched sunburst dial. Your model is very attractive and seems to have a more practical hand set. Will keep a lookout for a price drop now I have first hand experience with this E168 movement.🇬🇧👍
Moved away from Seiko to Citizen a couple of years ago. Amazing watches. Mark the citizen tough “ray mears”, the promaster land PMD56, promaster land At6080 have a good following. Did you used to be a Citizen retailer? I recall seeing some of the eco drive moon phase, and the Calendrier models on your site. Also that Monster is dope, nice to see one with the teeth. I own a Promaster diver and a Nighthawk, both are great watches.
Citizen Automatic NB6004-83E. Very high level of build quality. Special materials, titanium. Automatic mechanism with anti-magnetic and ISO standard. I absolutely love all three of them and they each get regular rotation on my wrist. The rest of my little collection may be a bit jealous, but we all have our favorites.
Not a lover of citizen at all, only owned one which was a gift from my wife but never liked it so gave my son it and I’ve never owned one since I much prefer seiko… great video 👍
Dang this reminds me I still have the SKX with the Strapcode mod you made, which I remember was wrapped in Xmas paper??… She is still in the shipping box, I never even opened it..
Congrats on the Citizen distribution. So the Island bracelet fits the Fugu, the NY0040 and the eco drive BN0150? A diver extension would be great to loosen the bracelet on the fly when the wrist swells.
Have a look at their series 8? And the upcoming gmt...they are gorgeous 😍 it's a pity Citizen choose to use the same branding. They need to use different branding for their higher end stuff to avoid being associated with cheap quality. Like it or not that's what most people are into branding and perception.
@@islandwatch I now own two titanium watches - the garrison and a GS Snowflake. Putting on my old steel watches I just find annoying. Titanium just disappears on your wrist. Also while they aren’t immune to scratches the scratches are far less visible/not deep.
Nice video, Marc! 👍 Glad to hear that you’re now a Citizen dealer. I’ve got a Fugu in black IP with a full-lume dial. It’s a cool watch that I enjoy. Do you think you’ll ever make a black bracelet for it?
I love Seiko and Citizen but i’ve always secretly hoped Citizen would get out ahead of them. I just love every one of them that i’ve ever had, especially from the tool watch aspect. What tool watch is more practical than a stainless, 200m diver with bombproof Eco Drive power? Truly a set it and forget watch, I have 3 Promaster divers 😂
I like the new design of the Nighthawk (I'm wearing the original). Who but Citizen makes a pilot's watch with a slide rule bezel, a (somewhat flawed) traveler's GMT, and 200m water resistance?

Not a lover of citizen at all, only owned one which was a gift from my wife but never liked it so gave my son it and I’ve never owned one since I much prefer seiko… great video 👍
All of them are very nice. The Garrison is really nice except for the lume.
thanks so much
We need your multi micro adjustments bracelets for these
I love the orca. Very cool design.
sure is
Are you planning on carrying the Super titanium models? (NB6005-05L specifically)
Do you plan to add the NY0040 model or the original aqualander?
Fine vid Marc!
Congratulations! 🤝
thanks!!!
Had both, found Citizen to have far better staps and with end links, better quality control everything lined up and better vaule.
thanks for the info!
Dang this reminds me I still have the SKX with the Strapcode mod you made, which I remember was wrapped in Xmas paper??… She is still in the shipping box, I never even opened it..
Citizen is vastly underrated by most people.
Curious if you sell the Chronomasters or are they JDMs only?
Good question!
Let's put it this way. . .I'm very limited it what I can carry (for now)
@@islandwatch cool. No doubt you’ve seen them and the combination Solar/perpetual date/ 4 seconds/yr accuracy (and titanium) is just phenomenal
On their quality they are same but citizen is under appreciated by most people and watch collectors. Most people are buying seiko
Mark, will you be doing lumed bezels for the dive watches??
that's a good question. . . I guess it's only a matter of time!
Congrats on the Citizen distribution. So the Island bracelet fits the Fugu, the NY0040 and the eco drive BN0150?
A diver extension would be great to loosen the bracelet on the fly when the wrist swells.
Nighthawk , orca , Navihawk , tough , All old watches .
Give seiko a run for the money , and ecos .
Only getting better .
Citizen Eco-drive vs Seiko Solar. Is there any difference between the 2?
Have a look at their series 8? And the upcoming gmt...they are gorgeous 😍 it's a pity Citizen choose to use the same branding. They need to use different branding for their higher end stuff to avoid being associated with cheap quality. Like it or not that's what most people are into branding and perception.
Cool stuff. Will you release black pvd bracelets for the automatic fugu?
Probably not, sorry.
@@islandwatchThanks but I choose to stay hopeful 😄
I’ve been trying to find the FUGU limited red bezel and white dial. But the only one I found was 500+. I guess it hard to find for MSRP
As limited items generally are.
Have the Garrison - put it on a fabric strap. Perfect tool watch.
and super light.
Do you think you’ll ever make a black bracelet for it?
probably not enough demand tbh
@@islandwatch That’s what I figured. Thanks anyway!
Oh oh oh! Any chance of Chronomaster / The Citizen or any of the Grand Seiko competitors coming?!?!!
Love Citizen. I just wish they made smaller dive watches.
They do have a 37mm Promaster now.
Hello, does anyone know when the CITIZEN Promaster Eco Drive 37mm will be available in Bulgaria?
I love Seiko and Citizen but i’ve always secretly hoped Citizen would get out ahead of them. I just love every one of them that i’ve ever had, especially from the tool watch aspect. What tool watch is more practical than a stainless, 200m diver with bombproof Eco Drive power? Truly a set it and forget watch, I have 3 Promaster divers 😂
thanks for checking them out, and your secret dreams :)
I like the new design of the Nighthawk (I'm wearing the original). Who but Citizen makes a pilot's watch with a slide rule bezel, a (somewhat flawed) traveler's GMT, and 200m water resistance?
true! And not a screwdown crown.
is the promaster automatic just a srpe flipped around? the case looks very similar
No, quite different. Size and shape.
Any chance of a Citizen Eo2020 bracelet?
sorry, no plans.
@@islandwatch ok can you think of it?
Marc citizen is a very cool option.
I agree
