Yeeeessss🥳 I love them and I think they are absolutely underrated. Saw them live at this year`s Summerbreeze festival in Germany and they delivered a great live show.
Honestly, great shout mate!!! I was laughing at points not out of ridicule but because it simply wasn't what I was expecting and just made me smile. So fun making this one. Cheers Tom 👍👍👍
Grigel said in 2014 (at Metalfest West Loreley) to me, that they see themself as Melodic Death Metalband with Folk-Instruments and Celtic Roots. I think that sums it up. Celtic Melodic Death Folk :-)
The hurdy-gurdy is an ancient instrument, it's origins are deep in the medieval era, it once served even in religious worship before organs were invented.
After this, I'd love to see you react to Avalanche by Cellar Darling. It's a band formed by former band members of Eluveitie, including the OG female vocalist.
Well, I liked it. I liked the contrast between the folk and the heavier metal. The lead male singer's gutterals were understandable, always a big plus for me. And, I loved all of the different instruments.
Personally, I'm just slowly adapting to the heavier/ angrier side of metal, but stuff like this definately paves the way for me. Female singer Fabienne Erni did guest vocals for the German medieval metal band Feuerschwanz (foy-air-shvantz) on their song "Bastard von Asgard", she said it was her first time singing in German (I guess professionally). Of course the song is not as heavy as this one (with Eluveitie tending into melodic death metal and Feuerschwanz into power metal) but it has a really nice guitar solo. Their violinist Johanna plays the hurdy gurdy too, not on this song though.
There are so many genres and sub genres of metal that it could take you an eternity to try and cover it all! I've personally given up trying to be up to speed with everything so it's all about following your head and your heart. If you like something, find out what influenced that band (for classic and older stuff) or what bands they may have influenced (for newer and more modern acts).
@@melvinthinks Hard to compete with that. :) But 20 years of band-changes (esp. female singers) reflected in different styles... Personally - the golden Eluveitie would be "Inis Mona" and "Thousandfold" - both less chaotic than Rebirth but similar flute+gurdy theme. th-cam.com/video/iijKLHCQw5o/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/kb8WGig0MLU/w-d-xo.html
i liked the old elu with rafi, sevan, ivo, merlin and anna, the band has become a shadow of its former self and chrigel...well the guy never had an impressive voice to be honest, feels like he's giving it all but his throat is clogged.
The “WTH is that” instrument is called Hurdy-Gurdy
More Eluveitie please man, we need these reactions
It seems like an eternity ago when I did this video 😀 Great track!

I can imagine their love show is entertaining to say the least!
One of my favourite bands
Took me by surprise - that's for sure! 🤣
Aw mate. So glad you enjoyed them. I think they are genius. They satisfy all my metal and folky needs all at once. Like a musical multi vitamin

Love it!!! Couldn't sum it up any better 👍🤟👍

It's literally the most heavy metal instrument of all time!
@@melvinthinks It colours the guitar sound like nothing else!

I cant guarantee I'll make a video, but I'll certainly check it out. Thanks for the rec 👍

Yeah. I didn't touch upon the enunciation there so great shout, Gaye. Solid observation 👍

Only 9? They can compete with Slipknot ;-)

As for the instrument you didn't know, was it the wheek fiddle (hurdy gurdy)?
I believe so 😃
not all of their songs are as wild...
Well... it'd be hard to top this one and if it does I wanna hear it! lol

They've definitely had a few lineup changes over the years!
Someone stole the male singers cheese cake. I suspect the female singer.
