    I hope this one is better than the one I bought about 5-6 years ago from HF...it’s good for quick hack jobs but not much else. Looks like they have improved it. Look forward to seeing what you do with it. 👍🏻

      Dan Prudlow from all the reviews I have seen this is a good unit. We will see. Nothing like a novice to really test a machines limits..lol..

    Just bought mine. 25% coupon. WooHoo!!! The directions are as clear as you make them out to be. There is a diagram missing. The direction seem to be dated. Some items are already assembled or out of order.

      Yeah that is the Harbor Freight way.. You will be able to figure it out though.. Enjoy! I still love mine.

      yeah i saw those. But it is larger than my needs require. Besides, its all about how you use it, not always about the size LOL..

    Good job on the unboxing Brett. I bought a Craftsman and it isn’t worth a crap! It won’t cut straight for nothing. I have looked at every video on here to learn exactly how to set them up and it still won’t cut straight. I hate the damn thing. I should have bought the one you have but Craftsman was cheaper so dumb me trying to save a few bucks and got a terrible saw. I’m glad for you Brett so get busy and show what you can do with it!!

    I almost bought one but lucked out and was given a older craftsman floor model. I find that I use it all the time I am not sure what I did before I had it. H.F. is always a hit or miss I sure hope its a home run .

      Jim DaRoza thanks man. I have been very fortunate with HF tools and have had no real issues with any of my gear. Lucky you on the CM floor model! Thankfully I dont need such a large one. Of course want and need are never the same thing. Lol

    I’m deciding between a few 9” models and this is 1 of them. Can you please give us an update regarding your band saw. Likes/Dislikes problems etc. Thanks

    • @BearsAtticWoodshop
      @BearsAtticWoodshop  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have had no issues at all with this saw. Like all equipment it takes time to get used to how it works and what it cannot do. I think for the price it does an amazing job.

    I'm thinking about getting one. I am seeing a lot of great reviews on it. Question: Is it a variable speed? You will need a variable speed depending on what material you are cutting through. It does not mention it on the Specs on HB site, but it does say "Max Speed 2460 FPM" which implies a lower speed without saying.

    • @BearsAtticWoodshop
      @BearsAtticWoodshop  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Boyd! Unfortunately, these are not variable speed saws. But I have found I just regulate the speed in which I feed material and I have had much success with this saw.

      This saw has been treating me very well. It still runs strong and no issues. As with most tools you treat them well, and they treat you well also.

    Hello! Have you ever put a metal cutting blade on it? If so how did it do?

    • @BearsAtticWoodshop
      @BearsAtticWoodshop  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry I have not done that yet. However a buddy of mine said it works good for softer metals and to go slow. Hope that helps.

  • @justinwoods240

    That blade was so thin I could see it straight on

  • @jaymoore2738
    @jaymoore2738 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Right when it gets to the part while he's adjusting the blade guides, the video goes into a very fast speed and all audio is incomprehensible . Does anyone else have that problem? Blade guide adjustment is the main reason I'm watching this video so it is quite disappoint for me that I don't get what I came for.

      i agree....sped up right in the parts that i was interested in....looking for someone with experience to help out in the adjustments and they decided that was boring or unimportant....weird

      As stated it was not very good. Meaning that I was not clear in my explanation and had to go back and change a few things after the fact. I am by no means experienced. In fact this is the first time I have owned a bandsaw. As noted in my channel intro I am just learning about all of this myself and sharing the journey. Sorry that I was unable to help you out in that specific moment.

    I own the exact same model bandsaw .... voided the warranty on mind day 1 and they knew about it before I even got it out of the store.
    "Wait ... you're going to cut STONE with that thing???"
    yup, don't need a warranty, it wont be back!
    I have personally destroyed 15 of their metal-cutting blades with my bandsaw cutting through soapstone and alabaster in order to rough out my lathe blanks. :)
    For cutting wood ... I went to the best. TimberWolf.
    Make sure you set your blade tracking so that the GULLET of the blades track on the crown in the center of the wheel for best cutting and the least possible drift. Other things that can affect blade drift are having a dull blade or having your guides set incorrectly or improper blade tension.
    For just roughing work, grab a 3tpi blade ... you'll have good fast cutting through your wood stock. Also for ripping and re-sawing of your wood stock, or cutting green wood stock into blanks and boards, though the capacity of the bandsaw is a little low. I have had some great success in using my bandsaw for ripping and milling raw branches into usable stock ... I can also easily microwave kiln-dry my wood in small batches, but it's a lot easier on my nerves to just put them in my dehydrator overnight.
    For fine woodworking get a 6tpi to 10tpi blade for the best finish before sanding. Use this blade count for cutting things like plastic sheet or acrylic stock for pen blanks and boxes, ect ...
    For metal cutting (aluminum, brass, iron, THIN un-hardened steel (1/16th or so) you can use the 14tpi blade from harbor freight ... I also use this for cutting rock. If you use this for cutting boxes and your wood is the least bit resiny or the blades are the tiniest bit dull, you'll end up with burn marks.

    THis bandsaw SUCKS. I got one a couple months ago and it shakes like crazy. I even bolted it down to a solid bench and it causes that to almost jump off the floor. I DO NOT recommend.

      Sorry that was your experience. I would suggest returning it for a replacement. Mine still works really good
