- I take apart a Samsung Model #DV42H5200 Dryer which is not heating at all, do the replacement of the heating element and put it all back together. While I have it torn apart I also fix a vibration which is creating a noise while cycling.
DC47-00019A is the replacement part number of the heating coil and sensors which I got from Amazon.

My dryer stopped working about a month ago and of course I googled why my dryer wasn’t heating anymore and came across this video and I was like 🤔 let me try it. I am a 29 year old, single mother of 3 and buying a whole new dryer would put me in a tight budget for the next couple of months so buying one was definitely not the route I wanted to go. Ordered the part on Amazon, 4 hours later (I struggled a bit cause I don’t got tools but a screw driver 😅) my dryer works again!!! So proud of myself!!! 😅 thank you so much for the video!!! ❤
You go girl good for you !!!!
If you can raise three kids on your own you can repair your dryer - congratulations !
Good girl!!! ❤🎉❤
Still single 🤓
My dryer shit the bed again and my wife left me. After watching this video a second time and repairing my dryer I ended up hooking up with her sister and my life is better! Thank you so much man
Thank you Macho Man!
*** ATTENTION EVERYONE *** THIS IS THE VIDEO TO WATCH!
THANKS FOR THE DETAILED VIDEO! In my case, the Heating Coil did not show obvious break. Replaced Heating Coil... No Heat. Disassembled again, replaced 2 Sensors on the side of the Heating Coil. COINCIDENCE OR NOT.... Right before putting front panel (door), I NOTICED MY BLUE WIRE TO THE HEATING COIL WAS NOT CONNECTED. Reconnected, reassembled dryer... Plugged in, Flipped breaker back on, TESTED DRYER... YAY HALLELUJAH I HAVE HEAT!!!!
I watched many other videos... YOURS IS THE BEST!
Thank you for those kind words sir! God Bless Texas!
I swear this video is predestination of everything to come.
My dryer (exact same model) stopped heating. Followed your instructions and everything was the same… coil broken in the exact same spot and I cut my finger exactly the same too.
Great job.
This video legit helped my husband replace our heating element! Saved us $700+ , only spent $30 on amazon! 👏🏼 applause to you great video! Thanks for posting
Next time you do it. Be independent.
@@hamzabouteraa2027what? What a weird thing to say
Watched this video to replace the element in my dryer as well. Saved me a boot load of money doing it as well! I think most everyone cut their finger in the exact same spot: I did! It was still worth it! Thank you for the help!!!
))))
Thanks for the insight, I used kevlar gloves to do the job.
Same here minor cut nothing that a bandit can’t fixed!!
Yep, I can't sell my dryer now for fear of my dna being used against me in a future crime I had nothing to do with.
@@avi8r66 lmao
Great video, very helpful. Thx Melvin!
I am in the process of doing it and have 2 tips:
1. you can remove like 4 screws that secure the right wall of the dryer to loosen it a bit. That allows you to pull the heating element out easier. That method worked for me.
2. wear work gloves. Almost everything you touch inside of this dryer is sharp!
Great tips! Glad it is helping.
Just today I followed your instructions to the T and replaced the heating element. It works!!!, saved hundreds of dollars and my husband thinks I'm totally rad finger cuts and all. Thank you!
Thank you for this video!! I have a similar Samsung dryer that stopped heating. I was expecting a rather large repair bill by calling someone since I never worked on a dryer before...
Sure enough the heating element wire was broken so that's why there was no heat. This is an excellent video and broke down everything that needed to be done in order to get to the heating element. I TOO cut my hand! Lots of freaking sharp edges once you open the dryer up!
I ended up replacing the entire heating element assembly only because it was $20 more than just the bare wire heating element and I figured at 10+ years old, might as well get new everything which includes the thermal switch and thermostat that are built into the heating assembly housing unit. (Unbolt the entire assembly and bolt new one in, connect everything- done)
Videos like this make TH-cam great! I'm actually surprised at how easy this job was!
Sir, you are a God send. This video deserves 1 million views!! Here I am, a mom of 2, hubby is at work and I decided to take this upon myself. Thank you!!
Hopefully I make it to a million with people like you supporting me! Thank you for the kind words.
@@MelvinZoopers meant it 100%. one quick question, how would I check if the sensors are bad?
@@MelvinZoopers mine broke exactly at the same spot as yours
@@cindygallo1954 I'm not exactly sure on that one.
@@cindygallo1954 Check fuse for continuity, same for sensor. They are both designed to open the circuit when activated.
Very helpful. I lost a leg on my incoming power, ended up being a fuse out on the street. 1/2 of my house worked, 1/2 didn’t and my dryer sounded like a 1950’s car trying to start and made all the remaining lights that were still working do a flicker. My dryer had problems right after they fixed the power. Turns out my element melted. Being a single mom of 2 middle schoolers is hard to just buy a new dryer and cloths line drying is hard in an apartment. Thank you for posting this video, it saved me more than you will ever know
Glad it worked out for you!
I had the same exact problem. The heating coils could have been designed to be more durable. Great video. Wow, those rear screws were a pain, but doable. Also, thanks for explaining the rattling sound!
Thanks. I have the same model and this was a big help 👍🏻
I definitely want to thank you for the diy video. Like you, I purchased the element from Amazon, roughly 36 bucks and followed along step by step and now my dryer works and I'm not out of $200 - $300! Thanks 👍🏾
oh it's more than that, I was quoted $475 + Taxes.
Labor is not cheap.
Your video is just si great!!! 🤩 56 years old mom just changed my element with your help!!! 💪 Followed each step carefully, the only thing I just let it rolled for 15 seconds, it is heating, but there is a little smell of burnt 😱 is it cause it's a new element....tks in advance for your help!!! 🤗
Yes, it will burn that off quickly! Glad you were able to get it done! 🤘
@@MelvinZoopers Thank you sooo much!!! 🤩🤩🤩
Thank you! Was “relieved” to find that my coil spring was also broke, so like you I replaced that only and not the other OEM parts.
Back right-side U bracket screw was a pain, but my biggest issue was stripping out one of the front side door screws 😱
Fortunately had a Dremel cut-off wheel that I was able to put a small “slice” into the head of the screw and then crack it loose with a flathead screwdriver. Still took some muscle because it was cranked down AND had red loctite! Thought I’d mention my solution in case anyone has the same problem on this or another project.
Now just hoping the $26 part from Amazon lasts so I don’t have to do this again. Some reviews have me a bit worried. Thanks again for a great vid and for letting me know to wear gloves. The only cut was to that stupid door screw!
I had exact same experiance. Front door screw stripped and that stupid rear bracket set of screws.
This video was very helpful! I replaced my heating element with no problems after watching this video like 10 times, lol. AND I didn't cut myself! Thank you.
It's always nice when you don't bleed working on a DIY project.
Excellent video!
Almost bought a new dryer but after watching your video I thought I would gamble on a $35 kit and see if I could fix mine. Worst case I buy a new dryer but your detailed steps made it easy.
Thanks so much!
Awesome outcome!
Took me longer than I thought, but it worked! Thanks so much for your in depth video...there’s no way I could’ve figured it out myself.
Thank you so much for this video, you saved me a lot of money.
For other folks, my issue was that the dryer was over heating and would not stop running. It would get to the cooling cycle and keep running with one minute left until it overheated and I got the hE error. So the heating element was still getting hot, but wouldn’t shut off. This exact video was the solution for my problem. If you are having my issue, suggest you follow these steps to check out and replace the heating element and or components.
This Worked but took like 2 hours for me to repair. All those damn screws in tiny places smh. Thanks very much for the guide! Saved me a lot of money I’m sure.
After we replaced the heating element, we ran into an issue where the breaker was tripping whenever we started the drier. It turned out the coils were making contact with another price of metal and causing the breaker to trip! Once we fixed that issue, it started working perfectly. It’s even hotter than it was before!
Thank you for the video!
I really couldn't believe i could fix my dryer's non-heating problem but your video just made it as simple as ABC. I did it in good time and it now works perfect. Thank you so much, you just gain a fan.
This video saved our family from having to fork out a ton of money. Thank you! And I only have 3 cuts on my hands from replacing the heating element
This was a great video! I didn’t have to remove the drum! Yay 😀! I had limited space but I did fine. Dryer is working like clockwork! The hardest part was the stand the element was sitting on.. I had to bend it a bit,so it was a terror to put back on..but I managed. My steam w&d are about 11 years old and still work fine. Thanx for your help. Greatly appreciated..money saved!
For everyone here before y’all judge ik it’s confusing but on the bottom of the channel it says fix ur drier or something like that that’s the link to the video I tried it on my and it worked great.
I know why y’all think he didn’t help but trust me he did and there’s is a full video give a try
This was a 10/10 tutorial. I followed this and got my dyer done in like an hour and it works like brand new. Great video!
Great to hear!
Great step by step video. I will add though after the correct heating element is replaced there may be a slight smell of burning. It does go away after about 10 minutes. Thanks again!!
Great point!
Thank you for your video!!!, mine went out again after having it repaired few years back. Thanks again for the great indepth video. Warranty expired... $35 part on Amazon. Saves me over$350 repair. Thank again.
This video was super helpful! Took us a little longer than 18 minutes, but now my dryer works again!
Glad it helped!
Thanks, brother! You've saved us time and money!
Had the exact same problem with my slightly different Samsung model, but the insides were identical. Bought the part off Amazon for about $26 and now the dryer works perfectly. No cut fingers! Do be careful as there are a lot of unseen sharp edges.
Awesome!
Can you send me link from Amazon its hard to find the right product.thank you
I have the same dryer so I clicked on you. Good video. I ended up just bending that bracket temporarily that holds the element housing in place while I pulled it out. Then I bent it back into shape on the re-assemble. I cut my finger in the EXACT same place you did. Thanks for the help!
2024 here & this video is still very helpful. It got me to checking why my dryer wasn't working took it apart & sure thing same issue. Thanks for the video & the step by step, it saved my family $$$.
Got it back together back up and running & is getting hot ready to dry. Thanks again for the very helpful video.
@mmartinez3578 Love it!
This video saved my wallet. I got a couple cuts and scraps along the way but it was honestly fun and frustrating to do this. Great video man!
Thanks for the feedback!
I fixed my Samsung dryer with the help of your video. It had exactly the same issue, broken heating coil. Thank you so much. You saved me a couple of hundred dollars.
Yes!
Thanks a lot saved me a good few bucks
Good money!
Fabulous video. Following it and was able to understand and install the new heating element, which I purchased from Amazon ($30) versus another site that listed the element for $119. One think I don't recall you mentioned is how SHARP the metal is - both inside the dryer and the edges of the container holding the element. Thank you. I saved the cost of the service call and what they would have charged for an element.
You're welcome! Remember I cut my finger on the metal? It is very sharp!
Thanks again for the help. I had already decided to keep the original fuse and over-temp sensor for the same reason. My heating element was broken in exactly the same place. Also discovered a few installation boo boos by the assembler but would not have been of any consequence. Imanaged to draw blood on my wrist, lol. Thank you!
Hugh Betcha!
Thank you! I was following another tutorial that had me removing the drum and I thought there had to be a way to get the element out without taking the whole thing apart. You showed me how!
Love to hear it!
Just want to say thank you!! I watch this video and I did it order the part from Amazon for 30 dollars with the sensors and replace everything the actual element part wasn’t cut or any damage just dark because of the heat the usual after 12 years of use but I just changed everything sensors and is working like new I replace my drain pump from the washer years ago same watching videos here and is still working.. thanks for your help!
Thank you for this video. I was able to watch this and fix my dryer. My heating element went bad as well. I spent 24 dollars and about 45 minutes to get my dryer up and running. My wife is happy so I am as well!!!!
Thank you so much for letting me know I could get a repair kit from Amazon. Had no clue something like this was there.
I have never even seen the inside of a dryer but was able to do this by following your video. Thank you so much!
Thank you ! I just replaced my daughter's element. Your video made it all go very quickly. Hardest part was getting those 2 screws out on the back side of the U bracket !
Without a doubt the hardest part.
I believe I have a newer model. The same bracket just slides into a clip with no screws. I was very happy to find that out. Thanks for the video though. Because of it, I bought a used set on the marketplace for next to nothing because the dryer wasn’t getting hot. Now I have a good set for cheap.
@@xdarkmercx i purchased my dryer last summer for 125 so i think i got a lot for a little.
This video was a great help. Thank you very much for posting it. Much like others have said, the two screws at the back of the lower bracket were a huge pain and very frustrating to deal with. Everything else was quite smooth. I have a very similar model dryer (DV42H5000EW/AC) and I only needed to remove 6 out of 8 screws to take the front door and panel off. For example, at the very front when I opened the door, I only had to remove 2 out of the 4 screws while I noticed that you removed all 4. I also opted to replace the entire heating assembly with an OEM Samsung one. Yes, it was much more expensive than just the coil but I got scared reading some of the amazon reviews where people were commenting that the coils didn't last very long. I didn't want to have to do this job again anytime soon, particularly since it's a stackable dryer and hard to reach the back of it. I've run it once and seems to work fine. One problem that I was having is that it was getting stuck on one minute (i.e. kept running).
Great video. Fixed my dryer really quickly with this. Couldn’t opt for the Amazon part (going on a trip tomorrow, need to use washer today). Appliance parts store only had the entire element assembly ($70, but made the repair even quicker). Thanks!
Great when things work out!
Thank you so much Sir for this great video.. already did all jobs to be done.. now waiting for the "heating coil" part to come ordered at amazon.. i have the same problem "heating coil" broken.. well see when the parts comes.. hoping its a quick fix... thank you
Hope so!
Subscribed at your channel 👍😊😎
Got the parts.. and thank you Dryer is up and running.. heat is there for only $40 cad.. thank you thank you
Followed this step by step and fixed my dryer. Probably saved me hundreds. Thank you man!
Glad it worked out!
Amazing! I also have this model of Samsung dryer. Just followed the step by step instructions and viola! It drys again. I purchased the part as suggested via Amazon 2 days ago for approximately $34.00.
I also had a break in my coil.
Love it!
If you ever come to KY, I’m buying you a beer! Thanks so much! I fixed my dryer in less than 24 hours. Perfect link to the part, and it was delivered quickly.
Cool! Road trip from Minnesota to Kentucky! Glad it helped!
Thank you so much for this video. I just replaced the heating element today following your instructions. You saved me a ton of money!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. I followed every step and replaced the same part without any issues. Very grateful!
Great video.. helped me fix mine... but just an FYI that part that holding up the hearing element. You don’t have to in screw it.. just bend the metal down it’s very flexible
Also to note folks, if you order the element with all parts attached to the casing for $50 (if you don't troubleshoot all parts first) you may have to shape your case into the intake. Ive had cases where it was too large for the hole.
That's what she said 😅
Sir thank you for this video. I just bought replacement parts for $20. Better than a repair man charging $100 just to show! Thanks again!!
Best Tutorial on this Samsung on TH-cam...Great Job....Hope Your finger is better after 2 years!!! THANK YOU!!!
Healing up nicely, thank you!
Great Video! Saved a major service call after ordering the assembly replacement. Looks like they reduced the number of screws on the U shaped bracket to facilitate the removal.
Thanks for the update!
This was a great video thanks bro. So I couldn’t wait a couple of days for the new element to come in so just for everybody out there you can get a butt connector and kind of crimp it onto the wires that have broke and the heating element will come back on. I haven’t figured out how long that will last as of yet, but it works.
Nice job!
THANK YOU THANK YOU! I did it. I would’ve never tried this probably without your video. It took me several hours, but I ended up bringing my shop vac in. The dryer was full of lint and I did a complete cleaning. I put on leather gloves after slicing up my hands pretty good. Thanks again
This video helped me out a lot, have the exact same dryer. Was a perfect tutorial how to video. Thank you. New heating element and it’s back running now. And… I cut my hand as well on that metal.. twice.. lol
Haha! Thanks!
Thanks for the video. I just followed your instructions, ordered a new heating element through Amazon and the dryer is working again, although I ended up with 3 extras screws 😂. We have the same model #, however, mine has a couple of clamps in the control panel, it was a little tricky to get it loose. Other than that, all went smoothly, Thanks again. 👍
FYI, those replacement parts you had at about 11:15 or so were different sensors. The replacement parts next to the coil are the Thermal Fuse and the High Limit Thermostat (my fuse goes out a lot, but just replaced the coil too, so maybe that will help). The 'smaller' parts you had were actually the Thermistor (black larger one) and the Thermostat (smaller silver one). Those are installed on the back of the blower housing, next to the motor, which you'd have to access by removing the drum.
👍
This is true. You can also check them with your meter. I had one of four go out, toned out what worked and didn't. My coil actually got hot and broke so I took my thermal and the other for parts next time. $36 bucks for the part and $50 an hour and I do those repairs all day.
Great instructional video. I completed the replacement of the heating element on my Samsung dryer.
This is the best tutorial I’ve found online by far! Thank you for taking the time to explain in detail
Thank you so much!! My only recommendation is, if you have gorilla paws like me, to go through the exhaust on the back to take off the “shelf” the heating coil housing is on. Much easier to manage that way.
Thank you so much for your video .I just fixed my dryer, all by myself, with your instructions of course. It's amazing. I can dry my clothes again, yay! God bless you!
Glad to help!!
I was already going to get a new dryer until I found this video, like all the others you saved me literally hundreds of dollars! Thank you!
Hey just wanted to say Ty I fixed my dryer today all because of your video it was a breeze minus those 2 screws behind the support bracket lol they kicked my butt but I got them out then it was smooth sailing I couldn’t believe how easy it all went back together and it works great I couldn’t be more pleased Ty again you probably saved me hundreds from calling a repair man Happy New Year and God bless
Thanks, trying to find an improved upgraded element because I had to do this back in 2020 as well. Just long enough to forget how to do it. I did shortcut the screws in that front bracket and put one in the center, or that’s how my dryer came not sure.
It worked!!!! You are awesome thank you for guiding us thru the process!!! Have a great evening
Thank you for this video i was going to get a replacement for it and my wife told me to check on TH-cam how to fix it, and Thanks to you buddy i don't have to buy a new one. I fix it my self.. thank you so much for this learning video.. muchas gracias! God bless! 🙏
Had to replace mine for the second time and needed this refresher. Thanks
I'm with you.
You're the freakin' man!!! I was able to fix my dryer thanks to you! I really appreciate your help and just can't believe I was able to get it done! God bless you!
Thanks for this video
Thanks for the video! Same exact problem my mind your directions were perfect. I did forget the door connector. Had to go back and reconnect it…
That's funny! Glad it helped!
Thanks man! Got my grooming salon dryer back up and running on my own 😁
Thank you. Took me a couple of hours. Part costed $27. You’re greatly appreciated 👊🏼✝️☝🏼
Great news!
Just finished fixing my dryer following this video! Thank you!
Good news!
THANK YOU for this tutorial! Great instructions, exactly what was wrong with ours. Saved me a bunch of repair/replacement $. Much appreciated!
Thank you so much. It simple but when you don’t know what you are doing it can be very complicated, I watched the video several times and then acción... thanks.
Thank you! You made this daunting task easy for me and saved me a couple hundred bucks.
Awsome thanks man you just saved me 70 bucks in labor
Thanks for the video man very very clear on what to do and how to do it and where to get the part as well very informational awesome
Thanks!!!
Thank you so much for this video my husband and I change ours👏👏👏 saves a lot they wanted $175with parts and labor.
Great!!
Had to replace the heater coil (did the sensors as well...) in a DV42H5000. Your step-by-step instructions were clear and easy to understand. I am definitely no appliance repairman but got through it without much trouble, save for a few scraped arms on the edges of the interior. Thanks for your help!
Just paid to have this done. Expensive. The tech pulled the drum out the front. Said it was easier to get to the rear for a few things.
Thanks. Got my dryer fixed after watching your video.
Thank you so much, I just got done replacing mine. Thanks to you I saved a lot of money.
Awesome!
Thanks Melvin. My dryer is working perfectly again.
Mission accomplished!!
Your video was exactly what I needed. Saved a ton of money and even got the same cut. Thank you so much!
I love a plan when it comes together!
Thanks so much for this video! Tested with ohmmeter and I surprisingly didn't have my heating element go out but another component did. She's heating again!
Thank man! I feel like the Maytag repair man.
Thank you, just used this video to replace my heating element! Works like a charm again.
Yes!
Melvin Zoopers but damn, reaching the screws of the riser for the heating element was a pain.....
This video was super helpful. The only thing that wasn’t really outlined clearly was the tiny screws that hold the bracket for the heating element I need tiny fingers and patience
Thank You!!!. This Video saved me hundreds of dollars. I would of never tried this repair without this video. You made it workable.
Thank you so much for posting this video, you saved me $300.
I’ve used this video to help me replace our heating coil twice. Thanks very much!
Yeah...they don't seem to last very long. Thanks!
This video is great! It was a little trick to get the screw in the back of the bracket, but I’m guessing that was 10x easier then taking out the drum and reinstalling the belt. My old heat coil was not broken, but it was touching the frame.
Yeah...that little screw in the back is the worst part of the job.
Thanks for making this video. And you’re not kidding about the cuts! My wrist and hand make me look like I lost a knife fight.
Took me an hour and just follow this video to fix my dryer! Thank you!!
