Would it be feasible to put some type of netting attached to the two walls, on either side of her, and the bottom of the box to catch any chicks that might fall out like an old unseemed pillowcase or an old sheet? Something that they can't catch their legs in but will prevent them from falling to the ground? 🤷♀️❤
The next-door neighbor I grew up with she had a huge fig tree, and one year I ate so many figs. I literally got sick to my stomach from eating too many figs, and I stopped eating them for years and then I decided to try them again and just not go overboard on eating so many. Sadly, I have moved away from that house and I no longer have access to figs in the area. I’m at now I can’t even plant fig tree or any fruit tree yard just isn’t big enough.

WOW! I have a Celeste fig tree. It’s now about 12 yrs old maybe more. It has given us fruit every year. The tree was anniversary gift from my husband. I got a fig tree and I gave him a peach tree. The figs are small but very sweet. Enjoy ! I’m going to see how I can send a picture of the tree. Love your videos. ❤
You could add screen or a board to the front of the nest box to prevent the babies being able to fall out before you are ready(leave just enough gap she can get out), place a large box with a very thick pad of shavings to protect if they were to fall, or if the box can be unhooked from the wall place it on the coop floor. Or if possible take the entire nest box to the other smaller area to prevent any of the other birds messing with the mom n babies!
I’m not to sure how old Spike (Big Boy) is or how many hands he is. So far the 3 riders that have been on him the last few weeks are not big. Lester got thrown off Voodoo when he tried mounting him. Voodoo is 17 hands and is a big horse, but with Lester’s weight, the saddles seemed to dig into his side once Lester put his weight on the stirrup and sat down. Lester then used blocks to stand on to get on Voodoos back and had no problem. What I’m surprised at is that both Lester and your mom had never heard or seen mounting blocks to get on a horse. Your mom should have one, if there is such a thing, portable one so she can get down if she needs to and then get back up. But then it needs something she can bring it up to carry with her. Especially because of her knee. A few suggestions to let you know if you didn’t watch the videos or had been told. Btw, Lester watched your live last night. He commented on their live last night that he watched it.
I bet you could ask around the hill and see if anybody has that egg crate padding or cushion packing material that will get thrown away anyhow to put under where chicks could fall? Or even those fast food drink carriers with a heavy layer of shavings over?
My dad had a huge pot that he cooked with propane outside. His specialty was pear preserves but he always made figs into a strawberry preserves. Delish

Maybe lay some soft or cushioned item down below where she is at? Like bubble wrap or blanket or foam pad.
