I'm just glad its not another extraction shooter, roguelike, or Soulslike
Yeah the 150 souls likes revealed in the past 3 days are really annoying now
@@silentlore2458yeah...i like the genre but we do need variety. Make some fucking action games please industry.
I hate hate those types of games, but I don’t mind watching others play it
@@jeezze07 I don't hate those types of games but I can't help but roll my eyes when I see indie & double A dev studios following trends without really shaking up those established genres besides adding some sort of gimmick.
I think there are some great exceptions like Hades (roguelike with evolving story) & the Remnant series (Soulslike with guns)
I will never be mad about soulslikes ngl given I love them so much but I’m so happy to see more turn based games too such an under appreciated genre
Finaly a turned based RPG with realistic graphics and not those 2D graphics. I am definately getting this. Looks great.
game grabbed the hell out of my attention right away
UI of Persona 5, Visual of Final Fantasy, and Combat System of Legend of the Dragoon
Perfection.
*Ahem..... The Legend of Dragoon, sir. lol :P
Kinda funny that both the director and Ben Starr are both huge fans of FF8
Don’t underestimate ff8 lol 😂
This is what Final Fantasy needs to look like and go back to turn based
Square enix might watch to see it's reception. If it doesn't sell much then square may well have been very right about turn based titles.
That's pretty dam right, I would love a ff game like this
The hybrid they been doing is fine with me because their is other games I can go play for my turn based fix
THIS Comment !
Grow up. FF doesn't need to be turn based. It's about the story, not the combat.
My favorite FFs are 14 9 10 BTW
Xenoblade 3 narrative meets FFXVI presentation and Mario RPG/Legend of Dragoon combat? Toss in some fire ass music.
I expect some out-of-left-field story twist a la Xenoblade with the Paintress and the motivation behind the number ticking...
When they said "reactive turn based," Mario RPG was quite literally my first thought.
And Final Fantasy XV and Nier music
Sorry but as much of a FF fan I am, FF16 has NO chance against the gameplay of this game in terms of combat. THIS is the next generation turn based style that we have been WAITING for in FF7 Remake, except Square Enix was UNABLE to do it.
The qte during a character's turn reminds me of Legend of Dragoon and Shadow Hearts
I fuckin loveeee legends of dragooon
Mario & Luigi too, my childhood
Those aren't QTEs it's timing based. Though I dislike LoD for being the most mid jrpg ever imo the devs who made that also did the timing Mechanic in the great Jrpgs Shadow Hearts games and Lost Odyssey. So If they got inspiration from any of them its irrelevant as they've all got the same source.
If you like shadow hearts, there is a game called pennyblood comming out that us heavily inspired by it comming out in the next year or so.
Lost Odyssey vibes also...
I think when Phil said that they bringing back something from Xbox 360 era this is what they meant 🤔
Lost Odyssey was so amazing
Just need a Legend of Dragoon Remake like this!
Absolutely, this game is a direct shot from nostalgia, super Mario rpg and later legend of dragoon, man I love interactive turn based games
Or FF9 Remake, combat-style like this would be incredible as well
the menu has a really cool persona vibe
That's right.. More refreshing game
The story has potential, the visuals are beautiful, the music is beautiful, with Mario rpg esque combat. I really hope this holds up
This was a very unexpected game for me. The visuals were awesome and when I saw the turn based ui I was sold.
Reminds me of legend of dragoon battle system
this game has me the most excited.
Paper Mario TTYD being my favorit game, I was super hyped when I saw the combat system! The combat really looks like how my dream game would be
I gave up after 15-20 years of waiting for a real final fantasy game. this game surprised me.
This game looked amazing
Feels surreal to see my friends on my TH-cam screen while you were scrolling the studio members
I'm so proud of them, this reveal rocks !
I just hope the combat is fast and snappy. The genre has sped up significantly since the days final fantasy was turn based.
That combat system has me extremely interested!
This game really caught a lot of final fantasy fans' attention.
Go my attention too. And im a Shadow hearts fan.
This trailer looks stunning. From visuals, to music and even the somber story. The dark fantasy and themes kinda remind me of Soul Sacrifice though maybe those are just skin deep resemblances I am very interested to see how it goes.
Already added on my Steam wishlist.
It kind of looks like they are using pant brushes to fight. Could totally have imagined it but the engery released in one of the combat snippets does look like paint
this looks like the combo system for Legends of Dragoon, and if it does, THEY WILL BE GOTY. nobody has ever came close besides chrono cross combat field system, but to add combos together while choosing a skill has been replicated. xenoblade also has something like this and thats also fun as well, but this here....this is better lol
I definitely think it will not be goty. But, I couldn't care less about that. The game looks amazing and that's what is really important.
This game looks amazing. after my first glimpse of it, I thought, "great, another souls-like," but was pleasantly surprised when I saw its turn-based gameplay, and it looks stunning. If it succeeds, it could potentially pave the way for future turn based games. Definitely keeping an eye out for this one.
The standout new game for me from the Xbox showcase! We desperately need more AAA turn based RPGs! I loved that the dev on their site even referred to this as a JRPG bc yes, that’s this style of fame play (doesn’t matter if it’s not made in Japan)
This game deserves all the support and I hope it’s good and does well so that SE gets a wake up call that there is modern demand for turn based games! I hope all the people clamoring for this type of game for years show up for it (if it’s good lol)
I bet SE def gonna notice this game since Ben Starr is involved too 🤞
It’s been a long time since I’ve played a turn based RPG. Mostly, I’ve only been playing FROMSOFT games these past few years. This is genuinely my most anticipated game atm, just from this trailer. Everything in the trailer speaks to me! It is utterly breathtaking.
Makes me think of Lost Odyssey. With the Time action combat. Plus i love turn base games.
Looks sick!
I loooove the story premise!!!!
I usually dont look at turn based but I might make an exception
That’s a lovely premise
I wish people would just let this game be what it is without constantly comparing it to Final Fantasy.
Those attacks and timing systems feels like Legend of Dragoon 🔥🔥🔥
The persona ui for a game with an artsyle like this is so cool. Like my mouth dropped.
After Dragon Age flop, I was glad to see this gem
Let's gooooo!!!!!
Is this the first of its kind or is it part of a series thats old?
Does anyone noticed the Dualliste boss is wielding weapons similar to Pontiff Sulyvahn from DS3? That’s pretty badass.
It reminds me of mario and Luigi series..yes, the offense and defense, where you are in control of and not really on stats
Looks absolutely mind blowing. I hope it lives up to the hype because damnnnn.
Also, I am glad to see someone else comparing this to Lost Odyssey as that's the first thing I thought about when I saw the trailer!!
I like this game and the turn-based game. I grow up on turn based games
This looks promising. I typically do not like turn based but this could be a nice change of pace.
The combat immediately reminded me of Legend of Dragoon, Im here for it🙌
Sounds like Victor Borba for one of the singers in the music
Reminds me more of Legend of Dragoon and Persona 5 with the aiming. The music is freakin gorgeous and the visuals are really beautiful and fantastical. I had to go and find the music lol There's already some tracks of the OST. The singer's voice is really something else and the music captures the desperation and emotional weight of their expedition.. while simultaneously being badass as it transitions into what sounds like it will be a battle theme perhaps? or a boss battle theme? Either way... this game is on my radar for sure now.
looks great so far
This looks like the closest I'm gonna get to a remake of The Legend of Dragoon
I am so glad it’s an interactive turn based game. I struggle playing traditional turn based games these days. I need some sort of gimmick. Make them interactive or have a boost system like BD or OT.
This looks so damn purdy. The gameplay looks awesome too
The moment I saw the battle system i was sold. I will learn anything and everything about this game til i buy it day one
It’s looking interesting so far. Just worried that skills seem to be assigned to a button. And that mostly means limited skill repertoire and very repetitive combat system, but who knows.
I turn 33 tomorrow, what a coincidence.
i.......NEED THIS!!
Super hyped for, as you called it, Reactive turn based battle system. I don't think Lost Odysey made much of it because magic there heavily superseded attacks. The only jrpg game that did it right was PS1 masterpiece Legend of Dragoon. I do not expect such approach, but maybe it still will be better than LO.
Take my money
This! And metaphor.. and the new trials through daybreak are revamping the turn based genre.. but in a great way! Can’t wait!
Damn this actually looks pretty interesting. I prefer action games but well executed turn based games can be really fun too. Hoping this ends up solid
I wont lie didnt expect that was a rpg i tough it would be a shooter but man it look amazing.
Order 66... Hope it is not a short game
Legend of legaia
Mario rpg action is better becuase it still about timing but your aren’t distracted by the button pressing symbols and things like in legend of the dragoon. I LOVE LOTD btw, this game looks amazing and I can’t wait but one thing that I didn’t like about LOTD is that my focus was mainly on the timing things popping up and it was hard to enjoy the cool attacks and animations because I was looking timing things. Literally the way to beat that is to just make it like Mario where you press the buttons right before the attack or learn WHERE in the attack you need to press. This isn’t BAD it’s just very distracting lol I like to focus on the animations and not the stuff on the screen that I have to focus on so I can time my hits. Another thing they could do is do the timing animations ALL before the character attacks.
Storyline: unless I got this wrong. The bad guy paints a number and everyone at that age dies. It seems like it’s in numerical order which technically if it is then if your age 31 (32 depending on what month your born and what month she paints the number) or 35 (34 depending on what month your born) then once she paints 33 that means everyone who is 33 will die and next year everyone who was 34 will be 35 and everyone who was 32 will be 33 and she will be on number 34 to paint and no one else would die and it would continue to be this way. So basicly only 1 set of people should die. The only way this is catastrophic is if she paints RANDOM numbers between 1 -100. Yes a lot of people will die if they are 33 but this is a one time thing if it’s numerical order.
Just glad to see turn-based combat from western devs.
Aftert the disappoinment that was Dragon Age wannabe Veilguard, it's so refreshing to watch the reveal of a true RPG like this game.
I love turn based rpg games and wish that more were made because the ones that have been made like final fantasy VII have always been successful
This look like a modern Legend of Dragon combat
i hope they have different character models. male and female have stock size where the head is the only thing that’s different
Lost Odyssey vibes also..
This game makes me wish a legend of dragoon remake so hard
square enix, this is what we what
Hopefully they won't downgrade it too much
I love reactive turn-based rpgs so this is right up my alley!
It seems like Metaphor: Re Fantazio has some serious competition 😮.
Metaphor was this year dude
Don't forget about legend of dragoon! A great jrpg, if you haven't played it, I HIGHLY recommend it!!!!
Finally something that can scratch my fantasy turn base rpg itch since Lord of the Rings The Third Age.
THIS is what Final Fantasy 7 Remake should've been like in terms of gameplay! Turn based, cinematic camera views, amazing graphics
1:30 what is Arthur Morgan doing there?
I feel dizzy watching it, though. Hope there's a more stable camera option.
all characters look attractive and the devs are former ubisoft... this will be good
FINALLY A GAME IM EXCITED ABOUT
1:17 is it a 4 person party???
gameplay aside, the story reminds me of an Anime called 86 which is amazing
cant wait enough for this game to see the light and best of luck to the dev team!
Same here
Only 3 members? Reminds me legend of dragoon
They got this better looking than dragon age.
By leagues
For real.
Looks dope as fuck
i hope it sells well. i really hate how final fantasy dropped turn based (modern audience bla bla)
it looks much better than new dragon age
For real. 👍
How's that work though? Because the people that were 33 last year, will be 34 this year. They would have skipped over the painted number. Seems like half the age groups would make it through.
I was thinking the same thing
... no lol. It's not even coming out this year
That's what I'm saying. Also how long has she been painting numbers because it would be really easy to break the cycle by only having children every other year. It would cause everyone to skip the death year as it counts down.
No, they wouldn't. Let's say the number says 34, everyone who's 34 gets snapped. Then someone turns 34, but the number still says 34, so they get snapped as well. I just assume this number thing is continuous and not a one time effect and it makes perfect sense.
I’m guessing:
1) The effect is continuous. Meaning that every single person that is or will be 33 during that year, dies.
2) The phenomenon is fairly new, so with that logic in mind, everyone eventually gets taken away.
This is How I Imagine The Next Gen of FINAL FANTASY should be like~ instead of Square Enix, a developer from FRANCE Make it ! As a RPG fan im happy and hope more changes like this for RPG. been having fun since Honkai Star Rail came out, looking forward to this
Combat is literally a mix of Legend of Dragoon and Tsugunai why doesn't anyone mention those games?
Damn so many amazing games coming…imagine if this game had summons from ff lol
who let RAID SHADOW LAGEND cook guys??
Damn.. RIP everyone 33 and 34 💀
LEGEND OF DRAGOON IS UP NEXT!
This might be a very dated question, but are there more console players than PC players?
Very likely
It's amazing most of the game devs and the main voice actor loves FF8 when it's one of the most hated sequels in the series... (it's my fave FF as well)
It's not my favorite, but I like it too.
It looks awesome but I felt like they ran through stuff too fast
This is what i thought FFVII remake was gonna be. Boy was I wrong.
