Thanks for the review. I sail on her in 39 days. When you said that it was not "Carnival like", I've heard this before. As it's more for an older crowd not as much of a "fun" ship. Which could be a pro for me since I'm 60yrs old lol!!! But still looking forward to my cruise.
I believe that we make our own fun. Sailed her last year and trust me, there was a nice mix of people of all ages not just the older crowd. MSC, in bed by 11:00 as stated by my client.
Just got off (March 25). We’re 73. Lots to do, if you want. Trivia many times of the day, karaoke fun to watch, comedy, both pg and adult was good. I played pickleball on the sea days (windy), met lots of nice people. Went to stretch and ab workout every morning on the lido deck. Many quiet places to sit. The pool area is crowded and noisy, but not a big deal. The food was good. My husband prefers the food on Princess, celebrity, and royal Caribbean better. I liked it (I didn’t have to cook). Lots of different places to eat and all were good. We never ate in the specialty restaurants. Shows weren’t great, but a couple were pretty good. I really enjoyed the cruise.
Thanks for posting! I sailed on the Venezia back in October/November 2023, and I definitely experienced some of the things you mentioned. I found the smoke smell very overpowering in some areas. I also found the Lido deck had its slippery moments, especially because the roof was off between New York and our first stop (St Thomas), and we ended up with a LOT of rain some days. The staff tried to clear the water as best they could but it was relentless and really flooded on those days! Also agreed with your good points, too. Overall I had some really great meals - both in the MDR and the Lido buffet, plus some of the other places :) It was definitely better than I was expecting after reading some reviews beforehand!

Agree with you guys almost 100% - except that I did not experience smoke in the hallways or overly hot upper decks. The buffet on the Carnival's newer and Excel-class ship Celebration is horrible. I totally agree with you. The Venezia to me also felt like a misfit almost lacking a true identity in some ways - it is was ship built for the Chinese market and then retrofitted for the US market, feels tiny and tight in some places, is neither Carnival nor Costa, hotch-potch of themes and layout, etc. Just an average ship at best and definitely not my first choice!

I am looking forward to the quiet tucked away corners for snoozing, reading and general day dreaming. Not a buffet person so hoping the MDR anytime dining will not be so frustrating. Any input on Serenity deck? I heard it is very difficult to secure two loungers even if you arrive bright and early.
Serenity deck gets crowded quickly unfortunately. Lots of people reserving loungers and not there for hours. We hope you have a great cruise! You’ll have a great time!
I have been waiting for your review as I knew I could get an actual honest opinion. We will be sailing on her in February of 2025 while she's in Port Canaveral. I think things may be better selling out of Port Canaveral than New York as there will be a whole different type of passengers

The food looked really good but I wasn’t sure what some of it was. I always appreciate your reviews because I feel I can trust what you tell us. Just curious - I wear sneakers most of the time. Do you think it will be slippery with those on too?
We will do separate videos about food. That’s great feedback. I debated adding what the dishes were on the bottom of the screen so next time I’ll do that based on your feedback! I typically wear sneakers and found it a tiny bit slippery. I have better balance than Josh but he did have some trouble walking… he wears sneakers all the time. So I guess it depends on your balance… just go slow and you should be alright.
The smart elevators work great as long as people take about 5 minutes to use them. It's not hard just need to be smarter than what you are working with
Recently went on this ship with wife and daughter, never been on a carnival ship before, Was out of Manhattan. It started off bad , for boarding, we went on to get boarding time, got a 1:30 pm time, unfortunately the only time we could get ride to terminal was at 9 am. Now we have done many Norweign,Royal Caribbean ships out of NY/NJ and have arrived early and ,gotten on ship right away, no wait unless waiting for ship to start allowing passengers on, well found out Carnival doesnt care ,what time u get regardless of convenience u dont get on a second earlier, so was not pleased to sit in terminal for hours. And was delayed even more because they were late allowing passengers on, so that even delayed us more. The ship was smaller then use to , but ship was nice, room was same as every other ship, always get balcony room on upper decks. They only check room once a day, every other ship was twice, really dont care except for extra towels etc. And room porter never saw after noon any day . Food and restaurants were ok, we had a amazing waiter and always asked for his area and never really had to wait so that was nice. Live music and singers by shops was nice. Did not care for open room area, it got so hot and humid , or insanely windy, the floors from humidity were slick , i personally saw over a dozen people fall, and 2 passengers, staff had to get medics for. Why wouldnt u close roof , it was very unpleasant and dangerous? The burger place was good, but no deviation on them at all, had lines off and on but not too bad. We found self serve restaurant , very warm always a/c wasnt that good ,no matter where we sat. Another big complaint , the auditorium ,more upstairs , they have grand pillars that easily blocked 10-15% of seating from seeing the stage, it was funny u would see large areas no one sat ,even front row because u couldnt see anything, people would come last minute thinking great found a seat and get up and leave 2 seconds later, such a horrible design and planning, did no one think to sit and see if obstructions and design around them? they figured everyone has xray vision ?? Getting off and on at ports wasnt to bad , guessing smaller ship etc , but was ok. As before getting on was bad, departure was a nightmare , same thing only special rated passengers could line up on departing floor, everyone else was 2 levels up ,most disorganized nightmare , no crew to help or direct, then having people drag luggage's down 2 flights of stairs, cannot say how many people we saw fall and trip down the stairs , why so poorly set up, no organization ,people waiting in line hour to get off and then other people just stroll up and cut in front of them , it was the worst debarking ive ever seen. So any positive feelings were ruined when leaving. The ship was nice but would not recommend at all, and being first time Carnival cruise and after experience would not hurry to go again
We got dropped off at about 9:40 and were sitting waiting to get on the ship (through most of security minus the drug dog) by 10:05am. Our process was very simple. We will have a video of our experience coming out.
I was the 2nd sailing out of Manhattan and it was a disaster getting on board. Hopefully Carnival got more organized. Sailing her again in July, hoping for a better embankment.
Just a thought, we went to the Panama canal back in January on the Dream and a lot of people thought we were going through the canal, wrong, only Spirit class ships can go through the canal. The Venezia is to big of a ship to go through the canal. Just like the Dream for us. Thought you might want to know so your not disappointed 21:40 21:40

Yes it was slippery one day bad and slipped, I think the cleaning the floors at night time hours when people seeping

This is a journey cruise, never had a problem looking for slot machine.

How long did wait in line to get on the ship? I was platinum and it took me 2 hours .

Horrible food just got off 4/15/24 horrible layout and not enough pools terrible adult area.
