      I know it all depends on how fast you want something... "Overnight" covered vehicle transport, cost about $2500 -$4k... If you don't mind waiting until the transport is coming in to your area... SO a week to a months wait time... can be very cheap... Had a vehicle delivered from Nashville, TN to Tampa, FL in a covered transport for about $600, all because I was willing to wait until the truck was fully loaded and making a trip to Tampa anyway.

    You did an fantastic job, offered some incredible content and now have a product that ANYONE could be proud of.
    The thing I most admire is that you do it all yourself, unlike some other content providers that claim to rebuild cars but end up jobbing most of it out because they are not smart enough to do it themselves or are too careless to prevent their windshield from being destroyed because they do not THINK about what they are doing.

    As far as the hydraulic system for the top-please track down the load coming out of the chattering relay inside the ECU. That is where your problem lies. I've seen this before with elevator hydraulics. You have a hydraulic solenoid that has shorted out or is stuck closed. Use a quality multimeter (Fluke preferably) and read whatever the resistance is of the load that the chattering relay feeds and then check it with a corresponding known good reference. Good luck.

    • @iWysocki
      @iWysocki 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Kalvinjj Actually, I have consistently found with low end meters that, other than signifying continuity or a lack-there-of, they are wildly inaccurate. On a typical hydraulic solenoid that meters at 12-15 ohms, an accurate metering of 8 ohms or less is extremely significant and will result in a lack of the strength of the magnetic field that will fail to overcome the spring tension of the solenoid plunger return spring. Whenever I help someone trouble shoot an electrical circuit on their car (or elevator for that matter) I am always horrified at the cheap auto store multimeter that someone employs.
      It doesn’t need to be expensive, just of a quality manufacturer. Anything Fluke branded with the TrueRMS III labeling will suffice (the Root Mean Square doesn’t pertain when metering resistance, but part of the TrueRMS circuitry includes a screen with a much higher refresh rate, which is really nice when trying to watch current or resistance swell or fall accurately).

    • @iWysocki
      @iWysocki 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Also, the chattering can also happen for a reason other than what you specified. If the current draw is way too high (a dead short or close to it) it is common on small relays that have a low tension return spring to chatter under high current loads. The reason is that the initial arc as the contact closes repels the moveable contact, but as the contact is driven away, the relay coil pulls it back in. Thus, the chatter created by Mr. Hernandez’s control unit. He stated it happens with both control units he tested. It is either AC noise on the incoming power (find it hard to believe if every other function on the car works well-there would be other symptoms in the vehicle) or the relays on both control units is being affected by something in the circuit the relay controls.
      Or the third thought is that this is a common failure of the Gallardo’s power top and he was sold a fault control unit.

      Didn’t he dyno with the first batch and then change it out? I try to keep up but fall behind so I may be wrong but I would not dyno with cheap oil.

    • @andybill313
      @andybill313 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Patrick D The initial dyno run was basic calibration of the ECU and tune on the car, he did not push the engine to anywhere near what a twin turbo of this kind can make. Given this is an engine that has sat dry for an extended period and been significantly rebuild with new oil systems new turbos, and it was suspected that there was likely junk in the system from oil burning in the original engine fire and the issues that there were with the original oil system. I would assume the engine was effectively going through a similar internal process to breaking in as it would be starting near dry with different internal pressures and lubrication rates the areas of the engine experiencing most wear around the cams and rings would almost certainly have some ridges etc to be worn away as a result of the past damage.
      There is a debate about the best type of oils and lubricants for this type of job I side with the view that conventional mineral-based SAE 30 or 40 motor oil with an extra extreme pressure additive added in is normally best for the job, then follow this with a flush to get as much of the metal and other junk dislodged in a hard break in out of the system as possible. Prior to putting in the considerably more expensive detergent filled synthetic and semi-synthetic oils for the engine's lubrication in use after the initial breaking in of the engine. There are a lot of arguments against the use of synthetic oils for breaking in an engine but for me, the most convincing is that most of the cost of these oils is for additives that are designed to prevent the oil from breaking down or picking up too much junk from the engine over increasingly long oil change intervals, and as these are not features desired why pay for them.
      There is quite a debate on the best type of break-in oil in the engine building community, but I have yet to see someone recommend the types of oil that you would use for 'daily driving' your Lambo. I have done two rebuilds using mineral oil for break-in (one motorbike and one car) and one bike using synthetic. There are a lot of other factors that could have contributed to it but the mineral oil seemed to produce a cleaner engine base on the subsequent oil changes.
      If anyone really wants to go into the detail on this Engine Builder Magazine did a good summary of the debate a few years ago www.enginebuildermag.com/2014/10/break-in-oils-and-assembly-lube-needs/
      My view on it is mineral oil works well for a short run in and an initial dyno tunes. Once you have it set up and are ready to start pushing the engine for extended runs then it needs to be switched over to the expensive stuff. If you can't spot an issue on a dyno before it blows up you've got bigger problems.

      Considering the typical UPR customer is a trust fund/day trader/small business owner/immigrant with family money if Fred is capable of competing with them in 1/2 mile events and elsewhere for a fraction of the cost of a new Murcielago or Huracan stock then I would consider that a victory.

    Except, you didn't take into account that you have a a major loss due to the Salvage Title you now have for a +$90k investment. This car is worth at least 1/4 less than an fully titled vehicle with similar milage. This is a huge money burn for anyone who's not a TH-camr or sponsored. Glad you did this, breaking down the numbers its not even close to a value investment for time or money.

      @J K actually this was his singular intent. Otherwise why buy a burnt out Lamborghini and say that you have the cheapest in thr nation? If Tavarish didn't say those exact words he certainly implied that he believed that by buying this car, at that price point, he would have a deal on his hands, inspite of the salvage title.
      I have rebuilt multiple 50s and 60s cars and trucks. I can tell you that people tend to think they can have higher levels of sweat equity and lower levels of actual cash invested. Otherwise, you go put and buy the car you want and keep tuned.
      I'm glad he did this build. Tavarish is an excitable layman, who loves to learn and try to make the visions of cars he sees come alive. This build though, financially speaking, was a bust.

A home is an investment, and something you pay on over a 30 year loan.

      Stefan Unson just from views alone he earned way more then 90k in the past year he’s dragged out videos on this car. TH-cam pays really really well, some TH-cams make up to $5 per thousand views. That’s 5k for a 1mil view vid and tarvarishs vids are usually 20-30 min long packed with ads. If we was making at least $2 per 1000 views and had 4 ads on a video and a video got 1mil views he would of made 8k from 1 video. He also does sponsorships which for a channel his size will pay around 10-20k for a promotion.

Jeremy established a baseline they could keep building over, and the reason they didn't finish the job was him being booked for other jobs and not having the time to do so.
      Eric is a great guy, with a lot more experience in exotic cars than Jeremy, and he still needed a week worth of work to get it tuned properly. The fact that he did it out of passion and/or publicity instead of money doesn't mean that Jeremy didn't charge a fair price for his work.

      I'd take a twin turbo salvage title over a N/A clean title. But id also only buy something done by a reputable company and I haven't seen enough of this guys videos to know his skills

    Great info Freddie, and you still a great deal for a supercar. Looking forward to seeing it in person at a meetup.

    You've done such a great jib. Thanks for bringing so much nice content with your Gallardo. I would like it if we'll get some more videos with the Gallardo😉
