of course it’s weird, it’s björk! 🤣 she is icelandic. I’d consider myself a casual björk fan who has listened to a bit of her discography. i love the song.. it’s quintessential björk she has such a uniqueness to her artistry and her vocal range is pretty spectacular. she has 9 albums out and this is a single for her upcoming album ‘fossora’ out this fall!
if you’re looking for something easier on the ears, i’d recommend army of me or venus as a boy. those are some of her biggest hits, yet still has some interesting soundscapes infused into them

Best artist ever. Living Legend. Björk.

loooove bjork to death, she's so unapologetically herself. Her earlier albums are a bit more typical pop and her two albums Vespertine and Homogenic are some of the greatest albums of all time. The later into her discography you get the more experimental it becomes. Fossora is coming soon so keep an eye out!!

Maybe not the best introduction to Björk. She's from Iceland and has 56 years old. She's been doing music since she had 11 years old (her first "album" mostly covers). In her teenenger years was vocalist for a couple bands. Nowdays she has 13 studio albums as a solo artist. There´s always something weird about Björk music, specially visually, but in a really clever way. I belive she´s one the best artist of this time, really recommend you to check out her music. Maybe start with her masterpieces: post, homogenic, vespertine

Björk has had massive impact on modern music. You need to fathom her first albums: Debut and Post. I’d recommend Venus As A Boy and Hyperballad.

Bjork has really embraced atonal chanty and slightly chaotic music for a few albums now. I love the experimental nature - as well as the bass clarinet textures throughout - but the one slight disappointment is that her vocal chants have become quite samey from album to album, often confined to three notes and very typical inverval jumps (as you pointed out early on in the video). It's not that I want her necessarily to re-embrace vocal melody - I'd just like to hear some different intervals and notes once in a while.

the lyrics seem to be an emotional interpretation of mutual aid, which would make sense since her family are communal anarchists.

PLEASE react to more bjork:) shes almost always alternative like that. She actually was rlly controversial cuz she laid eggs on a red carpet once and shot a music video in a topless wedding dress/string of piercings

...laid eggs? I'm trying to picture that, looks like I need to search for it.

Her music has become a lot more experimental and not as easily accessible to a casual listener. Her earlier music is a good place to start as an introduction

Bjork pronounced "Bee yerk" from Iceland. Genius combo of techno and clarinets. Her older material is more mainstream. Human Behavior for example. All is Full of Love is a beautiful song. Also watch 1995 appearance on Jay Leno doing It's Oh So Quiet.

Bjork is super experimental, but she has also created some gorgeous music as well. Every album she chooses a different group of talented musicians to work with. Vespertine is the most beautiful imo, featuring a choir from Greenland and harp/harpsichord. Last album was Arca and flautists. For more standard, but still awesome pop, listen to Debut and Post. For a combo of pop and beauty, go with Homogenic.

Bjork is amazing, but this prolly wasn't a great starting point. Last few albums are similar to this, almost more of a freeform poem like you said. Her earlier stuff was definitely more accessible, but still very experimental like this. Good reaction material ;) Maybe some better examples, in mostly chronological order:
Hit (with her earlier band, The Sugarcubes)
    Human Behavior
    Come to Me
    It's Oh So Quiet
    HyperBallad
    Bachelorette
    Joga
    All is Full of Love
    I've Seen it All
    Hidden Place
    Pagan Poetry
    Unison
    Who Is It
    Triumph of a Heart
    I See Who You Are
    Mutual Core
Personal favorite is a live performance of a B-side called So Broken and it features 2 flamenco guitarists (Raimundo Amador & Juan Luis)

Her earlier stuff is more accessible her album debut and post is mainstream experimental artpop music but with her twist on it
Then her next albums homogenic and vespertine are one of the greatest albums ever made
Check out joga, bachelorette, hyperballad or pagan poetry

You should start with Debut, Post, and Vespertine before delving into this kind of bjork. Those are like gateway Bjork albums lol. Vespertine is easily one of the beautiful things you’ll ever listen to.
