If a flap or a canard on a plane doesn't move smooth, it has to be adjusted or lubricated. That's the way it goes in aviation, because you can't just simply pull over in the air and a broken aircraft part will always be expensive. There are parts on a plane as small as a coffee cup being more expensive than a new car. That's why it's hard to watch this scene when you know how this is supposed to work...

It's really sweet that she is getting some love, I hope one day some company improves the 144 and uses her for trips and things, 144 and Concorde forever!
I was thinking the same thing, impressive how the wiper motor is good condition. I noticed Russian aircrafts are built to last, note how some of the Tu-154 and 134 are still flying, not to mention Il-62, while other aircraft made the same time as the aforementioned, most are retired.
@@pit_viper2013 why call someone stupid when they are correct?, because it IS a Concorde rip off the spies who stole Concorde's incomplete blueprints never got their hands on the ultra important part that had Concorde's wing curvature of her leading edges and more importantly, the rolling curvature of her downward curving wingtips which used to generate very stable and economic lift at all speeds, which is why the TU-144, or 'Concordski' as she was nicknamed by us, had those ridiculous looking 'fly wings' just aft of the cockpit that needed to be deployed at slow speeds to compensate for a wing shape that was incorrect for her original overall configuration. Concordskis configuration errors of her fuselage had weaknesses between the 'fly wings' and main wings and abnormal wing loads that put too much stress on the wing roots themselves, these weaknesses were all too apparent when she broke up in mid air at The Paris airshow in 1973 where aggressive turns took her airframe beyond breaking point.
Google maps & street view, and apple maps both show this is no longer at the location of the video. Just an empty spot next to that building.. Many articles you can google search will show where this is from the video even somewhat recent articles... its been moved just miles away in the same city now on display for people to see. Engine was taken out to show as well. Wont be hard for you guys to figure out. Still cool to see this still exists all these years later.
bigend07 It is actually in Sinsheim Germany. You can enter both. I was there 2 days ago and its a really great experience. Especially to see both of them in start position on the roof of the museum. They might be better of in a hangar but it was great to see them in real life.
@FlorsiCarquinyolis- It will take more than just fixing the tyres and putting some fuel in it!!! It would probably take years to get that thing working properly again, if it has been sat outside for so long there will be so much corrosion etc. It may still have the odd things working but its probably far from airworthy! The Engines probably dont work either!
Though it's a flawed jet it still deserves to be in a museum. It is remarkable those components still work after sitting so long. I guess the Soviets tend to make things rugged.

It is also a tribute to the excellent educational system the USSR had and that produced so many technicians and engineers, who in turn produced such marvels. As for being in this place, even as a pilot, I have nothing against it. Just try to preserve it and to show it as much as can to your children so that they can see what they can do with their heads if they study and with their hands if they work hard and beleive in dreams. Actually they are together in the Sinshein Museum of Technology and Automotion. In Germany. There you can find it both, but unfortunatelly not that functional as in this video.

всё зависит от ресурса. например у 115 машины было всего несколько десятков лётных часов, следовательно ещё тысяча есть. этому аппарату продлевали ресурс на 200 часов для перелёта, следовательно ещё можно пускать

Yeah, I am half Russian, and I hate how my country wants to crush any remenant of the Soviet Union. Although it is still much better than some countries, like Poland. I am half Slovenian, and I have noticed that Yugoslavian remenants are well respected. You can see the star everywhere, as well as old monuments to the revolution, Tito etc. I really think ex-soviet countries should take a page out of their book!
@soverato3 god no, last flight was in 1999, and that was a Tu-144LL operated my NASA (it had different engines and was for research). The last passenger flight was on 1st June 1978, it was only used for about 3 years :( such a shame...
@beeroosterm will you say the same thing about concord? I hope not. In my case I don't want to spend hours crossing the atlantic ocean, which is the case with today's airliners. But if you are ok with that, next time keep in mind that cruise ships are also there so you can spend even more time travelling. and yet again when you sit on a modern airliner don't ever think that you are perfectly safe because you may not get a second chance

A TU144 was restaurates by some people and in 2007 or 2009 that TU144 taxid, but didn't fly. For as far as I know that was the last time a TU144 started it's engines (and the first time in, like, 40 years or something...). I don't know if they're also trying to get it airworthy.

What a shame ! Why do they let that part of history rotting like this ? That plane'd better be repainted and kept in a museum. I say that but we have the same behavior, here in France. For instance, we let our Concords and Dassault Mercure (equals to the French B737) being scrapped (follow that link www.aerobuzz.fr/spip.php?article3188 , all is explained, in French. To sum up, the Parisian airports 'ADP' Orly wanted to get back the ground allocated to Delta Wings Museum. They did it and unfortunately there was no replacement ground to take in all the planes. So that, there was no other choice for then than scrapping a part of our history.... a real shame indeed).
I agree, what a shame to see history discarded only to be realized it's true worth when it's too late. Specially when it was a top of the line SST airliner that showed mankind's prestige, trial, ingenuity, and competence.

Technik Sinnsheim has both the TU-144 and the Concorde on show.. so both can be seen there.. and entered as well

The Soviets built some awesome aircraft.The Tu 144 must have been astounding-NASA used to use one for research.
