  • Choosing piano fingering can be a real challenge. There's often printed fingering in the score, but it's hard to know if you are using the best option available to you.
    Fortunately, there are principles and "best practices" you can use when choosing piano fingering that will help you make good decisions when practicing your piano music.
    In this video, I show you 3 must-know strategies for improving your piano fingering skills, so that you can apply these principles to the pieces YOU'RE playing.
    Repertoire discussed in this tutorial:
    - Mendelssohn Piano Concerto in G Minor
    - Chopin Nocturne in F Minor, Op. 55, No. 1
    - Liszt Liebestraum No. 3

    Great video. I am glad you sum up and categorize principles; that is great. I wish, though, you had been very consistent in naming the fingerings always in a bottom-up direction. That way the student makes a clearer picture of the chord and the hand ! Congratulations. All the best!

      Thanks for your feedback - glad you're here! I didn't even notice I was doing that - will remember that for next time; I agree it's helpful to the student to have consistency! 😊

    What does practicing scales in thirds, sixths and tenths mean?

    • @ThePianoProfKateBoyd
      @ThePianoProfKateBoyd  ปีที่แล้ว

      It means practicing with your hands not playing an octave apart, but playing a third, or a sixth, or a tenth apart. I cover scale patterns in this video: th-cam.com/video/uHp-eWuIvCA/w-d-xo.html
      You can find more about 6ths and 10ths at the time stamp 8:14 in it. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any more questions!
