great video man ..you are the kung fu audi master keep up the good work .love the way you explain every step you boys keep making these badass videos it has helped me a lot thanks
Thanks for posting this, I have a unique problem with my 2006 Audi a6.The brakes failed completely 3 times.I replaced the master cylinder 2 times and still I have no brake pressure and no leaks. I have a traction control light on, after the first master cylinder replacement the brakes engaged and would smoke from dragging on the rotor. Later they let go of the rotor, lost pressure and brake pedal now falls to the floor and the vehicle won't stop. I took it to 3 other mechanics and the dealer looked at it but wanted a lot of money to replace several parts at a time to find the issue. One clue in this video that's similar!!! the abs will not communicate with the vag-com. I think you may have helped me out. I'm going to replace the unit, have it programmed and let you know if that was the problem. Thanks again
The abs has nothing to do with the fact that you have no pressure. When you bleeding brakes after the master cylinder replacement, does fluid come out strong from the bleeders?
Ok thanks,I left out a few details in my post. This problem started with a loud beep,Traction control light and parking brake malfunction, the brakes engaged by themselves, dragged then shortly after failed lost all pressure and could not stop the car. I had the master cylinder replaced. The brakes worked normally for about a month. Then the same scenario all over again. We assumed the aftermarket M.C. was defective, replaced it again, worked for about a month and for the 3rd time it all happened again.I had the M.C. bench bled and the system bled yesterday. It did not work however I do know the abs mod will not communicate with the VAG-COM I now think the ABS module and the master cylinder are the issue. any Ideas?
If you didn't do basic settings after you did the first login and coding what would have happened? Is the abs module locked? Are you able to start the coding and adaption process over again?
Thank you for the video! Recently my 2008 Audi TT stated having P01276. I have read several different forms mentioning a new control module could fix the issue. With your experience, how true is that information?
Hi, I’ve got and Audi A5 2017 I had to take off the ABS pump because it had electric fault which is now sorted, ( all the brake fluid came out and the system was empty) I’m getting the pressure to the front brakes but there in no pressure coming through the rear brakes, do I need to use diagnostic to bleed the system or you think I might have damaged the master cylinder which I didn’t even touched it.
Very informative! On 1:21 you are testing the new module itself without the pump. My abs unit has the control module and pump connected by two wires. Do I then have to connect the whole unit to test and cannot test just the module itself like you are doing? Tnx
I own a 09 VW Jetta 2.5L and my ABS control module 1K0614517BD 1K0907379AD failed back in December of 2019 but had been replaced through VW's recall program back in 2017. I brought it to the local VW dealer in Staten Island, NY and they couldn't or wouldn't help me. In December of 2019, I bought 2 used control modules on eBay which didn't work because the VW engineer in Germany said these modules are married to each vehicle and not transferable unless it's rebuilt or bought new. Now I noticed in your comment saying to never buy a rebuilt module because of problems but buying a new one is too expensive. I was told and saw it online for $1700.00, can you recommend where I can buy a new one at a decent price? Thanks for the video and your help.
Hello i have issue with my a6 c7 2011. All lights are on, and my automatic transmision doesn’t reapond. I think that problem can be conected with flexray whiring. Can you tell me where in the car is flaxray unit
@EDGEMOTORS hi how are you doing sir ? I have a question I have a 2003 Audi A4 1.8L Iam getting code p0501 vehicle speed sensor A range performance with the abs and traction lights on . I believe this issue is related with the abs module from what I read in some Audi forums . So my question is the module you replaced is the same part number I need to replace mine? And where did you get it from ? Thank you
Maybe u can help me. I have an Audi A4 2005 and the ABS control module isn't functioning or communicating with the check engine light which is on and the abs light is also on. I can not pass the smog test in ca. Where I live because of this and so I went to a repair shop and he said the new audi abs module is close to 3500 which I dont want to spend. So then he said he can get a used one to match the car exactly. But when he did he told me he was having problems programing it to me car. Then he said he couldn't find a place that rebuilds asb modules for a 2005 audi in the states which I thought was odd and then he said there is a place in Canada he knows of that will rebuild the pump and module. Does this sound legit to have to send my abs module to Canada to get rebuilt? Do you know of somewhere closer to cal.? Is a rebuilt module and pump a reliable way to go if I don't buy one new? Thanks for your help. Debbie
how to choose correct used ABS module for 2009 Volkswagen jetta? I got of junkyards one -all numbers match except last 2 letters not matching--when i do coding it says rejected due to wrong component installed. What numbers are critical on ABS unit to match and what are ok to be different?
Sooo well, i have a couple of codes on my 04 A3 2.0fsi, amongst others steering angle not set correcty, the abs light is on, and the abs does not work, plus the traction control light is on. These codes and lights dis not appear at the same time, but is it probably my abs module that is broken? Thanks :)
Hi, 2006 a6 3.2.......code 1435/brake pressure sensor G201 and code 1316/brake control module.....do these codes mean that I need to replace the ABS control module? Or something else? Great video.....if i was mechanical in any way i know this would help me :) Thanks for any reply
Hello EdgeMotos, i have audi a6 4f with bosh 8.0. Can i just copy codes from my old unit and paste to replaced one? Do i need to do log in coding? I whatch all your videos and learning alot from them. Thanks
Hey there buddy, Audi A3 2001 1.8t (150HP). ABS light is on. Brakes works fine. Don't want to spend money on scanners. How likely could it be due to the bad ABS Module ? Could it be the fuse or just a ABS Sensor ?
just reinstalled an abs pump after having it tested for faults. everything works but traction control light and tyre pressure light stay on. fault listed is 'steering angle sensor not calibrated' in live data everything is fine. Abs works fine as does power steering. 2010 polo
Im able to get the code in, but it doesnt store it after i get out of the module... the incorrectly coded fault and not matched steering returns.... any suggestions?
i have the same problem on my vw mk4 vr6 01' the brake light blink and sound 3 or 6 times idk why but also sometimes just turn off the ABS and ASR i just change the module, but i never programing, so with vag com and thats all? thanks BR
My brother had 2000 yearmodel b5 passat with 1.8t engine. It had bad ABS module that took k-line (communication wire/line) Down. I was unable to communicate with the car with vagcom until i unplugged ABS unit.
Hustler LT yes, i need to code any module that was not installed on this car previously... and some times even if you remove your module and put it back in you may need to code it.
Would the brakes feel mushy if it was just the module? I am not loosing brake fluid at all, but my error code says ABS Hydraulic Pump leak. I am tempted to buy a fully rebuilt unit pump, module, the whole thing from Europe just to rule it all out. I am just not sure what to do. There is a place in the states that will rebuild the module but not the pump.
Also, I just consulted with a local import shop. They told me that used units would not work because you cannot "re-code" a unit. It must be blank or brand new. Any truth to that? Maybe they do not have the proper software to re-code? He made it out like he had a Ross-Tech..
I have an error code 01276 in which my Audi Code reader shows that as ABS Hydraulic Pump Leak. However, I am not leaking brake fluid (that I can see or find) my reservoir is full and all that. My brakes do feel a bit weak or mushy if that makes sense. I've been doing so much research and there is so much conflicting data. I have read that this is usually just the module that goes bad, and simply replacing it or having it rebuilt will solve my issues. That way I just leave the pump and distribution block connected so I don't have to not drive it or worry about bleeding the brakes. However, the old school mechanic in me tells me if the actual brakes feel mushy then there must be air in the system. But, I have read that a faulty module can send mixed signals to the pump, and it can actually release pressure, just like it does when it is working on slick roads when you are stopping, so causing the weaker brakes. Here is my issue, a new unit is close to $2,000 + the labor and Audi coding it. The only rebuilt ones (which are few) are all over in Europe and are $400 - $500 + shipping (great deal really). The other option would be to buy a full used unit and hope for the best. I do know regardless a trip to Audi is required to "code" the new unit. I did find a company in UT that can rebuild just the module, but not the pump. I am sure they could probably just test my module to see if its bad. Questions: What is the chances that this is just the Module being bad? I mean can a faulty module actually change the pressure in the peddle? Or am I truly looking at a bad pump? I am just trying to find out what the real issue is. Because if its the module only, I can have that rebuilt and leave the pump and all that connected to the vehicle. If its the pump/block, I can just buy a used unit and have all of that swapped out, but I could actually still use my factory module and not have to worry about a trip to the dealer to reprogram a new Module. Any advise or assistance would be great.
I guess my main question is, if I bought a full used unit, the whole thing, could I install it and have it re-coded to my Q7? I have had an independent shop, and the Audi dealership both tell me they are "burned" into the until and cannot be re-coded, to prevent theft of parts. That only a brand new "blank" one or a rebuilt one that is whipped clean can be used. Is this true?
2011 Audi A4 ABS module has lost communication with the car. I have a used work in working order but it will need to be coded. The stock ones doesn't work and has my car in limp mode and disabled a ton of things. Sometimes you'll hear the stock one that's faulty clicking as if it's trying to work. Any ideas from anyone on what could be going on or can someone point me in the direction on how to code the new one so I can install it. Thanks in advance.
Can anyone believe the absolutely insane crap that has to be done to replace a brake module on this German piece of garbage machine? big reason I tell no one to buy these endless money pits. Who in Hades came up with "coding" parts to replace them? Just another German insane money maker.
This is made that way to make production cheaper, so they could use the same module in many different cars with simple software adaptation, instead of making different modules for each one or making allot of cars with the same brakes...
+EDGEMOTORS I understand that, but really, it rips the crap out of consumers to pay for such repair insanity. Let's face it, the stupid car could have a computer that sets it up automatically. for christ's sake, I can plug any device into my 400 dollar laptop and it will automatically set itself up. there's NO reason to make cars that require all that coding crap, other than to rip off consumers.
+Scotty Kilmer granted... It is very truth. That's how they make sure to make money in long run... Look at the "component protection" now.... It does remove it automatically, if the part is brand new... But if the part is used, you going to have a trip to the dealer which will charge you couple of hundred to remove it... That way they make sure that they make money even on used parts:))) I can remove component protection, but it still cost me money,
+Scotty Kilmer My crown vic has a similar looking module, even in the same place. Ford requires a similar procedure too, on the newer cars. No wonder why there is such a big market for china hack scan tools. The tools are junk and break but even so it is WAY cheaper than what a dealer would charge. I'm in upstate NY and felt worse last month when I replaced a brake hose and ended up replacing the front line on the left side when both flare nuts were siezed due to rust. Even the coated line didn't help :(/.
+Scotty Kilmer lol welcome to the world of working on ANYTHING except 1990's domestic vehicles, bud. You will have to adapt your antiquated methods of repair and simply get with the times.
Hi I know it an old post but I have a 2006 passat 2.0 tdi and Abs module is faulty it's a trw module 3c0.614.095.p I have got auto com diagnostics, I have bought a second hand module with exactly same part no on it. Could you point me in the right direction for coding this trw module please any help would be much appreciated thankyou
@@EDGEMOTORS thankyou I've been on there and found what I think is the right procedure for my module .... to start I have to drive the car on flat surface and do one turn to left and right then to set wheel angle sensor ect.. will the code give here work through my auto com diagnostics?
Can I recode a 2009 jetta using a scanner? It shows me the option to edit the coding but it shows I have two different numbers ("code", and "continue") I have to type and I only have one code. I'm not sure what to type under "continue"
@@EDGEMOTORS it's a snapon scanner Solus ultra and I'm trying to reprogram the abs module when I click on programing it says longcoding and it has two numbers I have to put in I already created a code for the car on Ross tech but idk where to get the "continue" code from
good day. have a 2004 a8l that the abs was no good. got a used one , did the coding and install it. the car runs very good, no cods till after an hour of driving the abs light comes on. what's going on . need help
+Dylan Weiss well. if you erase the codes, and then later on the abs light comes back on, it should set a code. see what the code says... you might of did a steering wheel angle sensor calibration when the wheel was not straight, or yo might need wheel alignment... so read the codes....
+EDGEMOTORS hey buddy I had a quick question if you could give me some advice.... I have a 01 audi a4 and had a bad abs module (had abs+brake lights on dash) and I sent it out for repair and when I got it back and plugged it in the lights weren't on anymore but now when I brake sometimes I'm getting vibration in the pedal as if the abs was engaging, no matter how soft or hard I brake. Any ideas would be a great help and appreciated. thanks and great video, it helped a bunch!
my 1998 golf ABS system seems to have gone nuts. The ABS dashboard light randomly goes on and off, and (which is more scary) when I set my foot over the brake pedal, sometimes I feel and hear the ABS pumping, no matter how gently I am braking. On your experience, do you think these symptoms point to a defective ABS module? thanks.
Instead of guessing, you will need a VAGCom scan tool or buy the VAGCom software and run it on a laptop with an OBDII to usb cable and scan for codes which will tell you where to start troubleshooting. Matter of fact, if any of this over your head, find a mechanic that can do it or simply just burn the car. Used Audi/VW ownership and maintenance is not for the faint of heart. They're great cars when working, but when not, only the competent and resourceful DIY'ers survive.
Well if the code comes of only when you start driving, look into trigger wheel area at the axle.... and see, maybe the sensor is not in all the way. If it would be electrical problem, the code would come on right the way
Sounds like a wheel speed sensor fault. Find the correct part and replace it. If you didn't see this fault with the original ABS module, it's possible the module was faulty to begin with, which i'm assuming is why you replaced it (and watched this video).
Maybe you already found your answer, but in most cases the previous ABS module was faulty (or else why replace it?), and it will not communicate with the VAG COM software, so there's no way to check the coding. I just went through the exact same thing today with mine.
I have a 2004 A4 Quattro, my speedometer and tachometer don’t work, brake light flashes and ABS light stays on. I’ve read that the abs module being bad can and will stop the tach and speedo from working, anyone have any more information on it that’s true or not? I’ve checked all my fuses, all good, no check engine light, and the rest of the cluster works perfectly, it’s only the speedo and tach. I bought the car at 113k miles (it’s been stuck on 115k now)
EDGEMOTORS Sorry not the tach, I was half asleep when I wrote that. It’s the Speedometer and the Odometer. I went to Autozone to scan but the one here in town had a broken scanner. I’ve not scanned yet

it's gotten to the point where you need to be a software programmer and hold a p.h.d . in physic a to wrench on a car now. So expensive to fix cars now. Don't buy a car from a manufacturer that won't warranty all parts 100,000 miles/6 years.
What are you talking about? Rebuilt? Module Masters offers a 5 year warranty on their ABS module repair. And I for fuck sure am not buying a $1300 abs module to place in a $4000 car.
What kind of car you have? I have used many different companies to rebuild the modules, and the success rate was no more than 50% meaning they would either be bad from the start or go bad with in next year, yes some of them went bad in couple of years.... but we talking on a scale that you replace one module in a your lifetime, I replaced hundreds of them, and if even 10% of them come back bad, I look bad in my customers eyes, and loose allot of money on redoing the work. And FYI a abs control module for older Audi’s and Vw are around 500-600$ new from dealer, and always were. The 1300$ is complete abs unit, not a module. You need a repair kit, also bosh makes them even cheaper.
And it don’t matter what kind of warranty you I get for it. I still have to redo the labor... most of the companies that we sealed with has a life time warranty on modules...

Hello, could you let me know where the ABS central module is located in Volkswagen Toureg 2008? Thank you
Hi is there anyway of getting around not coding the abs module ? Cheers adam
if your module lost coding, you will not escape the coding.....
EDGEMOTORS ok if i take it off to be fixed will it lose coding ?
Shouldn’t, but depends on what they will be doing to it...
how to get code and programing?
hi if all number are same still need programs?
Go to ross-tech.com
@@EDGEMOTORS thankyou I've been on there and found what I think is the right procedure for my module .... to start I have to drive the car on flat surface and do one turn to left and right then to set wheel angle sensor ect.. will the code give here work through my auto com diagnostics?
That procedure is to calibrate steering angle sensor, the coding procedure will be different.
Any chance that I can replace a ABS module/pump and bleed the brakes and start the car and leave ? Without programming or coding ?
No
Must be programmed?
99 percent chance that it will have to be coded.
Can I recode a 2009 jetta using a scanner? It shows me the option to edit the coding but it shows I have two different numbers ("code", and "continue") I have to type and I only have one code. I'm not sure what to type under "continue"
I’m not sure what scan tool you using, and what you trying to do...
@@EDGEMOTORS it's a snapon scanner Solus ultra and I'm trying to reprogram the abs module when I click on programing it says longcoding and it has two numbers I have to put in I already created a code for the car on Ross tech but idk where to get the "continue" code from
Not sure how the snap on will do it.... snap on tend not to do stuff properly in vag cars.
But there should be one log in and one coding.....
good day. have a 2004 a8l that the abs was no good. got a used one , did the coding and install it. the car runs very good, no cods till after an hour of driving the abs light comes on. what's going on . need help
hate to say this but sometimes things must go too a professional or try to buy a after market warrenty that covers that part
WHERE CAN BUY THIS ABS MODULE I AM FACING THE SAME PROBLE WITH MY VW BEETLE 2012 MODEL 1.2 TSI
Can you please tell me how to coding abs medul
I'm not entirely sure on the procedure, but most likely you will need some sort of ford scan tool... I'll check into it and let you know
can you tell me the part number for that module exactly please
I took my Audi the European repair shop and they replace my control module but I still have a solid abs.light on in a flashing brake light
Are you sure you needed the abs module?
my 1998 golf ABS system seems to have gone nuts.
I need codes for seat ibiza 6l fr 1.8 help me
I did the whole procedure perfectly but I keep getting a 00285 g45 wheel sensor code now every time I start test driving afterwards. Why?
Well if the code comes of only when you start driving, look into trigger wheel area at the axle.... and see, maybe the sensor is not in all the way. If it would be electrical problem, the code would come on right the way
Sounds like a wheel speed sensor fault. Find the correct part and replace it. If you didn't see this fault with the original ABS module, it's possible the module was faulty to begin with, which i'm assuming is why you replaced it (and watched this video).
Why not copy the code off the old unit and enter it into the new one?
Maybe you already found your answer, but in most cases the previous ABS module was faulty (or else why replace it?), and it will not communicate with the VAG COM software, so there's no way to check the coding. I just went through the exact same thing today with mine.
but if part numbers same not always need code them. when swap trasmition control module from donor car, same number,no coding needed.
Hustler LT you talking about 2 different modules...
+Hustler LT Gali parašyti savo e-mail, turiu klausimų dėl ABS bloko pririšimo.
The electronic part which I want to Interchanger has no letters..just numbers
got it to work after steering calibration
Can I know how to change the language in the display to English?
I have a 2004 A4 Quattro, my speedometer and tachometer don’t work, brake light flashes and ABS light stays on.
I’ve read that the abs module being bad can and will stop the tach and speedo from working, anyone have any more information on it that’s true or not?
I’ve checked all my fuses, all good, no check engine light, and the rest of the cluster works perfectly, it’s only the speedo and tach. I bought the car at 113k miles (it’s been stuck on 115k now)
Well the tach should work anyway... did you scan the tach and see if it has any codes?
EDGEMOTORS Sorry not the tach, I was half asleep when I wrote that. It’s the Speedometer and the Odometer. I went to Autozone to scan but the one here in town had a broken scanner. I’ve not scanned yet
Autozone scan tool will not me able to scan abs and the rest of the modules, you need to scan it with a bit more professional tool
Did u figure it out my audis is doing the same thing
It really could be abs module, but also there might be several more causes for that. You need to scan it
01043 - control module; incorrect software version
vcds will not do that for you,... you would need to go to a dealer or use some of the Chinese immo tool, also some chips delete immo.
how to choose correct used ABS module for 2009 Volkswagen jetta? I got of junkyards one -all numbers match except last 2 letters not matching--when i do coding it says rejected due to wrong component installed. What numbers are critical on ABS unit to match and what are ok to be different? link to pictures

it's gotten to the point where you need to be a software programmer and hold a p.h.d . in physic a to wrench on a car now. So expensive to fix cars now. Don't buy a car from a manufacturer that won't warranty all parts 100,000 miles/6 years.
Sir what is basic setting ( login ) code for Ate control module (1k0907379ac)
I said 04 Toureg !!!
Vidio is not clear
"Audi" Problems Garanteed....!
You showed nothing. This is useless.
is it mandatory to code the part even if it is the exact same replacement part?
Kyon the same part number could be used in many different cars with different equipment... that is why you need to code it.
All Bosch 5.7 ABS Modules if disconnected or sent for repairs must be re-programmed, as told by a ABS repair facility.
What if you repair the module and put the same module back do u need to code it again?
So how can u tell if the replaced it and turn all the light off because they had my car over 4 months and I went yesterday and the brakes locked on me
