    Well... after so much time I finally managed to get the Mini Pix on the Nano Talon, and even did a few flights. Turns out it is working perfectly, and is now even officially supported by ArduPilot, although the code is still in beta, so installing it is not super straightforward, but it is doable! Wiring is a bit of a hassle... but it is the cheapest Pixhawk out there, especially considering you also get a power module, and a GPS unit!

    Very helpful with information and real-world tests, super informative about equipment, batteries and LongRange as a whole. Learned a lot from this channel
    You rock!
    After watching most of your videos, today was my maiden flight with Mini Pix and 4S2P/5AhLi-Ion config on handmade FT Spear, It flew great, made the test mission flawlessly, cruising a bit fast 55km/h but OK, the GoPro video looks stable and clean, got 41km range with 13.09v at the end and everything was smooth as butter.
    BUT The compass variance error and bad logging are super annoying. I tried to disable all compasses but got Bad Compass Health error. Is there a way to disable it altogether MP 1.3.7. Can it fly really OK without using the compasses?
    Also any hints for Bad Logging, I've tried 4-5 different SDs ranging from 2GB to 32GB (FAT16 and FAT32) without luck, have any info on solving this too?
    Keep it up.
    Fly Safe :)

      Thank you! Actually I've never used a compass on a plane, and I've never had issues for not using one! I just uncheck every tick box in the compass tab... and that usually sorts it!

    So good to see a thorough display. I have three Mini Pix. All have passed the first steps up to and including Loiter (On a Copter). But so far the installed unit has not responded to the Auto command to fly a three waypoint mission at 3 metres alt. From Loiter it climbs to about 10 metres holds stable for 5 seconds and then descends and lands. No attempt to reach waypoint 2. I am using the Radio link version of Mission Planner. Any suggestions ??? Birdmanpete.

    Hi! i have ZOHD nano talon and the plane does not fly as many claim.
    It does something like cyrcle and its hard to trim it. I was thinking to remove the gyro stabilizer that came with.
    I'm thinking to install 2 servos for ailerons on the wings for better controll, what do you recomend?
    And of course adding a flight controller.

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is possible there might be a problem with the stock stabilizer, so replacing it might be a good idea! I have also though about replacing the aileron servos and moving them to the wings... and even got some servos for that, but haven't gotten around to do it... though I do think it is a good idea and might improve things, so try it! People also do recommend the flat wings mod, although that is quite a bit more invasive in the plane's construction.

      Yes, I do use auto take off with all Pixhawk controllers that I have! Not sure how you have programmed it... but there are no params to be adjusted for that to work! I setup a take off point on the flight planning page, give it climb angle and altitude, and let it rip!

    Hi. Volantex Ranger EX 757-3 1980mm Long Range FPV RC PNP or Volantex RC Ranger G2 - 1.2m glider plane 757-6 PNP, which of the two models is the best platform for a Long Range project, up to 20 km? Or, please, can you suggest another model that I can buy in the EU these next 2 or 3 days? I travel in a few days and wanted to take the model with me! Many thanks for the reply! Let's go forward! Best regards

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually this is hard to say... both planes are COMPLETELY different - one is 2m wingspan, the other is 1.2m wingspan. For 20kms out I would go for the Ranger EX... but then it depends on what you need to do with it! The Ranger 2000 might be a more suitable option to be honest.

    •  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really, thank you very much for the feedback. I asked this question a few months ago and I was hesitating this whole time ... I bought yesterday the 757-3, the landing gear and interior space ended up determining my option. Fly with 2 x batteries and all the electronics need to lift flight and get landed more sustainably, won this model! Now, I'm going to work on your electronics! Hello, great video, how can I calibrate ESCs on the mini pix? I tried to do it with the lever up and all the standard procedure, but it doesn't work, any ideas ?, the motor only beeps continuously every time I start

    • @jamesdunsmore6525
      @jamesdunsmore6525 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to move the stick in a certain portion to arm if no arm button and change the safety start number in the mission planner,I have the new pixhawk4 mini and servo rail needs power so my esc have 5volt built in bec that powers that rail and two servos only,and I have a power module that power the motor from battery and other side of the pixhawk to.

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When you power everything up and arm system, unplug the ESC only from the power module, do not disconnect the battery so the Pix can remain powered! Throttle up, plug in the ESC, and after the first beeps throttle down, you should hear the confirmation beeps, and be done!

    I am thinking of getting this with a full PX4 Pixhawk with Pitot and telemetry. For a first long range fpv plane with autopilot. Do you think this would suit the plane or would you recommend another FC.

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How much of a long range are you looking to do? Why this plane? A full Pixhawk would be too big for this plane and is just not reasonable!

    • @glumfish6862

      ArxangelRC This is going to be my first fpv plane. I want this plane to have fun and as a platform to learn to use all the long range stuff like fpv gear and autopilots. So at a later time I can build a bigger and better plane. As for range I want to go at least 2km up to lets say 10km. Do you have any other autopilot or plane to suggest? (I would like to try autonomous functions). Thanks.

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, actually I can recommend something else... but it is bigger! As an autopilot a very good option is an Omnibus F4 Pro board (goo.gl/iivVJN) flashed with ArduPlane (th-cam.com/video/LyNlnVo8TdA/w-d-xo.html), all the functions you could ever need, along with a current sensor and an OSD all on one board, and for a plane... a good flyer is the Ranger 2000 (goo.gl/EG5jrK) for instance... it is bigger than the Nano Talon... but it should be easier to handle and not as prone to stalls!

      eclampsie I will definitely give you an opinion on the 2 Autopilots. Arduplane is much more mature and has way more support and functions plus the GUI and Ground Control apps are WAY better. You got your choice with Arduplane- Mission Planner, tower app ,QGroundControl,ect... inav is inav.. it’s ok for basic stuff but honestly I would never use inav in a vehicle that will be carrying a expensive HD camera just because of the reliability factor that I think inav lacks. Inav is getting better but I don’t ever see it being as robust as Arduplane/Ardupilot.
      All that being said most F4 boards out there now can support Arduplane by flashing them over and that makes things a lot nicer Because now with pixhawk or Apm you have to add all those extra components like osd current sensor, so on. With simple F4 omnibus or the likes all is included on the board which saves a ton of space and weight.
      I’m looking forward to the day someone develops a all in one Ardupilot board for fixwing that includes airspeed sensor sonar current sensors ect... I will definitely pay for that!!!
