Love your channel. I am also a medical interpreter with 10 years of experience. Just would like to add when interpreting the medical term "delivery", yes it is correct and acceptable " parto, alumbramiento". Existe otro muy usado equivalente a " parto" (dar a luz). Mi esposa acaba de dar a luz! That would be " my spouse or wife just gave birth" or "My wife just delivered".
Thanks . I just started for medical interpreter and I really appreciate this videos I hope I could be more involved in conversation or conferences meeting about medical terminology.
Thank you so much for your content! I interpret “Flu Shot” as vacuna para la influenza-flu means influenza, while gripa is what we’d call a cold! 😃 They’re different because influenza is a specific virus, so in my opinion, in Spanish, there’s a pretty big difference between having influenza and having a common cold. 😊
Love the video!!! I just wanted to point out a mistake on 26:19 you said “STD, Sexual Transmitted Disease” and Rosa said “Enfermedad de Transmisión Sexual o Infección de Transmisión Sexual.” Wanted to clear out that Infection ≠ Disease. Infección de Transmisión Sexual tiene su propio término “STI, Sexual Transmitted Infection.” I know that Spanish if very broad from different countries and I learned a few new words here that I don’t use, culturally, where I’m from. Thank you!
Thank Rosa and Joanna . Your videos help a lot. I’m from Mexico and just applied for interpreter in the medical field I hope I pass cause 3 of the word were clearly to me since I was just listening to you guys. Please continue and I have 44 more videos to go with you. God bless you both..

Ola! For questions to Rosa, please follow her on her TH-cam channel! She was here only for these two videos and you can see her style it`s a bit different! Thank you!
Thank you both so much! I am planning on taking the CCHI certification in April. One little thing- Scenario is the correct word in English. Love the Russian accent!
This was a great video and very useful. I'm fairly new to medical interpreting so I'm always looking for resources to help me improve. Sidenote: that was my first time hearing the word "anagraphic".
Dear Rosa also in English in the hospital when you get your paperwork to discharge in my case I had a miscarriage and it says spontaneous abortion so needless to say my fiance didn't speak English and he thought I had an abortion which I didn't because he didn't understand the terminology but they do also use spontaneous abortion in English to describe a miscarriage
Hi girls! Just found your channel in 2014. I'm interested in this field but i'm in México, any suggestions on how i can get started? Or how to prepare myself? Thank you so much 😊❤
Thank you for your comment! Most of the trainings are in English only. I created bilingual training Spanish English. Check this link mit-interpretations-trainings6970.thinkific.com/courses/cardiovascular-system-bilingual-medical-terminology-spanish-english
In November last year I got a certification in Medical Interpreter, My name is Mia original from Brasil, so I can do an interpretation in portuguese & spanish to english, but I have a full time job at home and would like to do this as part time job. The only interpretation I did so far was @ the Emigration Department, I interpret Portuguese to English. I did a few freelance interpretations for several jobs, once for a lady I know, she was in ER and she trusted only me, so I interpret spanish to english to the doctor in that particular hospital. I'm interested to retake this curse just as an re-enforcer😊
Mia, you need to improve your English if you really want to enter into the interpreting professional career. You can't say curse, or emigration in English, for instance. They are not what you want to convey.
Hello, again. Ola a todos. Thank you for all the insights, and opinions. I appreciate it, but I already was called to interpret for The Emigration Department, which was so "great". I also interpreted it in the hospital before, and have confidence I could do this Interpreting career if I really wanted. I wish to all of you all the best, may GOD bless you all.
The word 'anagraphic' is not well used in this context. It has a very different meaning. Very good Rosa as in figuring out what the other speaker meant was demographics!
Hola felicidades por éste video tan intructivo, me registré para la certificasion dé intérprete médico, mi clase conciste dé 102 horas. Quisiera saber acerca de él examen escrito, ya qué esté video es de terminologias medica oral. Gracias y exitos. Hi I just registered myself for the Medical Interpreter class English and Spanish is a total of 102 hours I will like to know information about the written part of the test it's base on a medical topic or scene? Also which organization is best to register for the credential. Thanks you!
Hi! Nini! I think that the best certification is CCHI (talking about getting a job after). The legal national interpreting test is the second credential I will advise for the Spanish language. No one is allowed to divulge information about the written or oral exam (its forbidden by law). But as far as I know the English part of the test is always medically related on form of test or free text, just be ready for all medical terminology and stuff. The legal exam is terminology and it could be something like this video here: th-cam.com/video/wK3g39jRA4I/w-d-xo.html a general information. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the videos. It is very helpful! My home languages is Chinese Cantonese and I live in Los Angeles. I want to be a medical interpreter. May I ask if anyone can recommend a trustful 40 hours interpreter institution for me.
I know you're trying to help studendents with the medical terminology and I thank you very much ; however, I feel like something is missing. I can't point out what it is. I think that the lady that is speaking in English takes over too often. It's just my opinion. Thank you .
Haha. There are many Spanish channels:) Where you can listen only Spanish language. But however this is just word's from one language to another, and your opinion is respected and really funny!!! Do you know when I used to give language classes to lazy students who expected you to put a language in their head without making any efforts, would use similar phrases:) Nothing good is easy or perfect. I guess Romey isn't English speaking and he is just confused. You should follow Rosa on hir channel where you can hear her beautiful voice entire videos:)😂 In main time keep it positive🐦😂

I’m a Spanish Arabic medical interpreter the interpretation for the word “Sugar”in this context it is “glisemia”not “azucar”
Grazias!
Nunca hubiera entendido ese término como paciente, pero azúcar si lo hubiera entendido. Gracias por ampliar nuestro vocabulario.
:)
Thank you for the clarification. I just started in this journey and would like more support ( Spanish/ English)
I am learning Arabic and Spanish if you have any pdf links to study, I would appreciate it.
I might be wrong bur I believe that here in Argentina, instead of "expediente medico" we would say "historia clinica"
Thank you for adding your knowledge here!
Aborto provocado es legrado si no mal recuerdo...
Great video, the spanish interpeter is great, right on target.
Thank you so much for your content! Thank you for taking the time to share your wisdom! You are precious!
Here in Argentina, for "blood test", we would use the term "analisis de sangre". Thats the first time I heard "prueba de sangre".
Thank you for sharing!

And it should have been “make a mistake”
Rosa, alumbramiento es cuando se expulsa la placenta.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge 😃

Como se puede decir "stillbirth," en español? Please and thank you✨
I wish I knew the meaning!!! IF you discover PLEASE SHARE!
You could say “mortinato” or “nació muerto” which is the one i prefer to use since it’s better understood.
