- The 900cc Ducati go kart named the "Ducarti" returns! We ruined the motorcycle powered go kart's clutch racing in the sand a few years ago, and the 80hp go kart has been sitting ever since. In today's episode, we revive the Ducati go kart and prepare it for a head to head challenge up against our 670cc 2 stroke snowmobile powered go kart!

I was just binge watching old episodes of y'all's and I got to say it just ain't the same not seeing Charles in any of those, he's like that stray puppy that you find and just completes the family. Y'all inspired me to get into reviving old engines. Now in the process of putting a gocart engine in an old grave digger ride on for the kids I acquired off the marketplace for free. Can't wait for the race and as always wrap it before you tap it stay safe my friends
Charles is more of a recent not so recent addition. Maybe a year, year plus he's been on the channel? Somebody correct me. The three together is the perfect chemistry... Love these guys!

love the Ducarti, it is down on HP but it should have way more torque ,especially off the line and an honest to god gearbox instead of the torque converter.
And the power to weight ratios are actually much closer than they calculated, 3.675:1 for the Duck, 3.20 for the 670.
@@jeffrykopis5468 Is that without driver? If so then i think their way is more useful since it doesn't go down the track empty.
@@Lucas12v But different drivers have different weights, so whichever kart has the lightest driver would probably be faster. Ideally, lightweight John would lap both carts to find the truly quickest, and fastest. Ike is at a disadvantage in both weight and wind resistance, since he's so tall.
Cvt has instant torque but harder to control traction
@@derekmaxwell8164 a cvt in of itself isnt torque, it might have a lower gearing at the bottom end but its the engine that produces the torque or twisting force applied to the wheels, the v-twin should have much better torque and also better grip than the 2 stroke engine , also a cvt might have belt slip which the bike engine with its clutch and gearbox should not have as long as the driver can shift it properly.
I love the sound of that Dukarti. It's almost like the sound of an inboard engine on a wooden boat. It's called a burble.
Time for the annual ducarti revival. I'll see this cart next year!

I think isac calculated the power saying 494/80. I think it should have been 294/80 which is 3.6 pounds per hp. This race should be great.

I have my "money" on the 670. I think the shifts will have to be perfect for the Ducarti to have a chance. I'm glad to see the Ducarti back though.

@@davolbc if they get the carb and fuel issues figured out on the 670, the ducati doesnt stand a chance in the top end... its already got a fight just trying to keep up with the shifting lol
Please put some new air filters on the ducarti, the ones on there have seen better days lol. Might make a difference when you're going WOT at high speed.

i would suggest bringing a bunch of new plugs with you for the 2 cycle when yall go to the airstrip, 2 cycles like to foul plugs if they are not tuned 100% perfectly as im sure yall know

A lot of cogged belts are measured in hertz frequency. The conveyors at my plant use a cog belt and we set the tension by measuring the Hertz.

I’ve followed this channel from the point of this vehicles creation, I was starting out as a Ducati mechanic and hence why I stumbled upon you. Beautiful to see Ike showing of his mechanical mastery on what can be a bunch of tricky machines; I used the 5mm Allen trick plenty of times then slowly you get the feel.. Still the hammering of a gasket has blown me away, general engineering mastery at its most elegant. I endeavoured, successfully, to take on a 1976 Ducati mini 3 restoration inspired by your mini enthusiasm. London, Greenwich. Get in touch
P.s below the clutch cover is a scavenger filter cap. Can always drain the oil from there
Imagine if yall got a dry ice blasting machine for the new shop. Everything yall work on could look brand new in the matter of min. Would be a serious upgrade

With power to weight calcs, we see why the 670 did so well at the track. Good drag cars are about 9 or 10 to 1.

The 670 from the drag rail has a masterful sound and should be put on a similar go cart. Perhaps a Harley transmission pared to it also...

Gonna be a good race. Guessing the Dukarti/Ducarti is gonna win both off the line and top end. The gears and clutch combo versus the CVT is gonna make the difference I'm believing. Looking forward to tomorrow!

The 670 may have more top end horsepower at the crank but the Ducati engine likely puts it to the ground better than the CVT. Plus it also makes torque, something that 2 stroke never did and never will. "These go to 11..." was Spinaltap not Tool. Write the date on the oil filter with a Sharpie, makes it easy to tell when you last changed the oil. Russell should've told you, you've gotta let a Ducati fully warm up before you try to move. The older ones especially are temperamental as hell. Where Japanese bikes were street bikes dressed as race bikes, Ducatis were race bikes slightly detuned for the street and they really don't like to go anywhere until they are warmed up.

I learned that gasket making method in auto shop class in the 90's. In a pinch, on the intake side, you can use a Manila folder😉👍
Gotta clean the power valves on the 670! That’s why it sounds like it’s hitting a rev limit in the drag video! That is what stuck power valves sound like! 100% would take the ducarti over the 670 any day of the week!.. the torque is probably double the 670 and much more usable. A 450 4 stroke off of a bike would be sweet! Newer ones are fuel injected! Perfect for a turbo! I think these high power crazy builds are what will grow your channel! I’d like to see what you guys could do with a 450 motor in a proper chassis.
