- Creating an impression of some design or patterns on the surface like paper, cloth, metal, and even on leather is called Embossing. Silver is one of the oldest metals used by man, the brilliant white shining metal comes second to gold in preciousness. Various techniques, including round carving, etching, encrustation, filigree, and repousse were used in the creation of silver objects. Belgaum is one of the business headquarters’ in north Karnataka, with many ancient crafts for centuries. Silver sheet embossing is one such craft promoted during the 15th century.

Chasing and repousse (C&R) is called embossing in some countries. The term doesn’t really matter, their expertise of this ancient technique is wonderful! As a Metalsmith who also happens to be Buddhist, I’ve wanted to create a Buddha head using C&C. This was very enjoyable to watch and also offered some good perspective on how to approach the work. Thank you the maker of the work and this video. 🙏🏼

I have to disagree. C&R and embossing are two VERY different crafts. And need very different skills.
Being specific is important.
Everything is changing. But our hard work not changing. I'm trying to implement technologies to change your hard work. I'm sure I'll be success in that.
