- The "Barbie" movie might be all the craze right now, but Cheryl Burnett’s love of Barbie goes way back. For almost 30 years, she’s been creating a Barbie dream collection in her Atascocita home.
"I had one growing up but she got lost somehow," said Burnett. "I rediscovered her back in 1995 in a magazine ad and that was Rapunzel Barbie that I went to my local Toys 'R Us store and found. I also bought a Maria from the Sound of Music and a Peppermint Princess Barbie and that’s what started my collection."
Since then, Burnett has amassed a collection of around 2,400 Barbie dolls. Most are boxed and kept in several rooms throughout her home, although some are on display. She likes to collect one-of-a-kind Barbies, from Silkstone to platinum labels and vintage.
"Barbie is 64 and I myself buy her for the fashion," said Burnett. "Barbie is the largest fashion house in the world."
One of her favorites is a brunette Barbie that came out in 1959 at Toy Fair in New York.
"Only about 300,000 were produced and they made both blonde and brunette," she said. "More blondes of course. But I have a rare brunette doll, hand-painted, no touch-ups and in her original bathing suit."
She says she one day hopes to pass down her collection to her granddaughter.
"Nowadays I think, you know, Barbie can be anything and so girls can be anything too," she said. "I think that’s the message that Mattel wants to get out, that girls rule the world, and they can be whatever they want."

Her grand daughter is so lucky to inherit the whole collection
What a beautiful collection and the setup/ room is gorgeous! Does she have an Instagram page?
Please donate these to a museum once you are no longer with us, this collection must live on for generations ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I have close to 500 Barbies but stopped collecting because of no more room. Unfortunately, in 2019 we were forced to move so all of my dolls are in climate controlled storage now. My girls, granddaughters and great-granddaughters don’t seem interested in dolls nowadays. They are country meaning they hunt, fish, mud ride, etc. If I don’t ever get to display them again, then I will donate them to a charity for them to auction them off. I also have some Victorian and Indian dolls that are numbered and signed by the doll maker, Rustie that will also be sold.
At this point you’re the goddess of Barbie doll collectors ❤❤
As a huge doll collector myself, i love seeing people of all ages collecting dolls ❤
Her granddaughter is going too be is so happy 😭
You are living my dream! I have never had enough space to display my dolls, and your collection is just spectacular!!!
I loved playing with my Barbie dolls! I still have my collection, which is very small, but I still love them. ❤
Beautiful collection 🤩🩷 and how they are displayed is so beautiful. I hope her granddaughter appreciates Barbie and will continue the legacy of collecting.

Stunningly beautiful collection! And so happy to hear that Silkstone will return next year. Thank you for sharing your amazing collection.
I love when people collect for Barbie fashion …it’s the look ❤
What a collection! I have a very small collection. But they are an investment, especially the silkstone ones.
I am so impressed and amazed with her and her collection. And she keeps everything so neat and organized. 💕💕💕💕
Hey... some women love and collect shoes in the same fashion as she collects Barbie dolls... I'm here for it.. I love it.
Wow! Thanks for sharing this!!! I hope to one day be able to inventory my 100s of Barbies and display them like this! I've been collecting for 17 years but ran out of display room in 2016. They're now in storage. Then, from 2020-2023 I (somehow) collected a few 100 more Barbies! Channels like this inspire me to get mine out of storage and display them! I might even create a channel documenting my process! Thanks again!
I love that the granddaughter will inherit the entire collection, hopefully she gets it when shes older and can truly appreciate this❤
Beautiful collection 😍😍
