She doesn’t have good intentions , shes using education and future as an excuse. Immisible discord event showed she doesnt give rats ass about Mafuyu or her grades. Its all about control. She had to make up reasons to guilt trip her about the synthesizer. Grades are just a convenient excuse this time.

Yeah she got scared after Tagia (I think that's his name) in the Light Up the Fire Event had started being n bad character, so she decided to become the worst character to ensure that he doesn't get her spot.
Everytime Mafuyu feel scared or start panicking because of her mother, breaks my heart so hard, I just want to take her away from that woman and give her all the love and happiness in the world

(These are only my thoughts that I just want to get out there. I 100% hate Mafuyu's mother a lot, but I love her writing)
You can tell the Mafuyu's mother has some care about Mafuyu, but the way she's going about it is extremely toxic/manipulative. Especially when it comes towards the end at 9:44 when she says that she is sorry for breaking Mafuyu's phone, but the way she says it and her facial expressions only feel cold, but when it fell into the water and Mafuyu went to grab it, she did feel scared/worried (although how genuine it was is another story) for Mafuyu.
I also love/hate the lines Mafuyu's mother says at 5:36. She's pretty much saying that when she was in high school, she would hang out with friends a lot of times, and she felt like she couldn't help it. However, she's telling Mafuyu to NOT be like her in a way by telling her to only study and not hang out. It's one thing if she were to say that she only ever studied in High School, but the fact that she said that she would hang out with her friends a lot shows in some way that she wants Mafuyu to be what she never could be, aka why she feels like Mafuyu NEEDS to achieve "her dream", when it's only her mom who enforces her to attain that dream.
I mean, if anything this only gives Mafumom's statement about "regretting the future" more credence, considering it seems like out of everyone in Niigo she's the one living with the biggest regret, which is why she's so adamant about Mafuyu being "perfect" considering that's the only thing filling the void inside her heart

I’ve been reading through the niigo stories, and… honestly? mafumom ain’t that bad compared to like 90% of parents I’ve seen irl?? like even after mafuyu does bad on her test she doesn’t yell at her or say anything extreme. all she’s saying is “I’m keeping your phone till your grades get better”
and yeah going through your kids’ things and THROWING THEM OUT AND FINDING THEIR FRIENDS IRL is really shitty of her but most parents I know not only do that but are also emotionally and physically aggressive
at least mafumom is TRYING to be nice and I feel like she’s just too passionate about making mafuyu successful to the point that she forgot about mafuyu’s feelings. she’s CLEARLY written to be a much more complex character than just “abusive parent” but idk if it’s because pjsekai has no hate sink characters or if we’re all just rebellious teenagers but y’all are going WAYYY too hard on her
That’s the way her abuse works. She makes it seem like her actions are reasonable but let me put it this way.
1. She goes behind Mafuyu’s back on multiple occasions. Not only does she not ask for permission to go into her room/use her things, she actively snoops around and uses whatever knowledge she finds against Mafuyu to catch her off guard. She corners Mafuyu trying to get her to slip up when she knows the truth all along. This shows that she does not respect Mafuyu’s privacy at all.
2. She gaslights Mafuyu. In the Lost Child event you see her emotionally manipulate Mafuyu by masking her feel guilty for naturally being an excitable kid. She doesn’t ever take responsibility for the fact she had lost Mafuyu because she wasn’t paying attention to her. She goes out of her way to make sure Mafuyu feels horrible after getting lost. As the mother she’s supposed to be the most responsible. You shouldn’t need to guilt trip your child to make sure they won’t be lost again, especially since it was obvious that Mafuyu was already terrified when she realized she was lost.
3. Mafuyu’s mom has already been told that Mafuyu is suicidal (or wants to disappear) by Kanade. Not only does she downplay it which is what you should NEVER do, she still tries to separate Mafuyu with her support system and coping mechanisms (Niigo and music). Isolation is a technique used by abusers to have the victim rely on only them. That is extreme. A good mother would have taken what Kanade said seriously and reflect on her actions, but she keeps taking and taking from Mafuyu without any hesitation because she does not care, not truly. I agree with what Kanade says. “She THINKS she cares about Mafuyu.”
You do not need to yell or hit anyone to hurt them. The fact that Mafuyu said that she feels scared to even talk to her mother truthfully is evidence of how horrible a mother her mom is. We’re being hard on her because most of what she does is not ok she may not be the worst but we shouldn’t downplay any of this
