I swear in the last couple of months we are getting some of the best Starcraft 2 games ever. Back in the day, there'd be just a handful of fights and the winner would be decisive and that would be it. Nowadays each fight feels like two boxers that are 15 rounds deep and each round has been a blood bath. Each of these battles could only be defended by the best of the best and they do it time and time again while also fighting two other battles. It's actually mind blowing how good these guys are and Lowko's friendly attitude casting it makes it so fun to watch every episode.
Cure has been growing on me gradually throughout the past month. He just plays such solid, multitasking Terran. And while he may not have the incredible micro of Clem or lategame of Maru, he's become one of my favorites. Thank you Lowko!
I wish there was a high prize off-race tournament, where the pros can't ignore it because it's too lucrative. They cannot play their main for it. I think it would be interesting to see if any emergent strategies develop from it.
Gresvan is an amazing map for broods, the wedges between the ramp and the center top and bottom edges of the map are extremely defensible for broods while also in striking distance of two bases
Last night I did the mission in UED: First Light where it's one holdout in your main base, one escort for the convoy, and one holdout to defend the civilians once the convoy drops them off (and then you kind of need a hit squad to go kill Nidus or you get overwhelmed). That was probably the most intense army splitting I've ever done in SC2!
I really like Reynor going after production with his Mutas alongside the worker harrass - taking out infrastructure on multiple fronts. One thing I notice with the Iron Bank style Terran is that there is a period in the early late game where the Terran doesn't actually have any bank to rebuild army, before the MULE eco gets started - if Zerg can push at that time, they can do some lasting damage.
29:48 "siege tanks leap frogging forward" 🐸🐸 Lowko creating his own words beautiful ❤ P.S.34:23 that was cute both players were trying to take the same base at the same time
An awesome game indeed. When Reynor fired his final attack, with mass banes, I was more than convinced that he will lose all army and twice as much in supply and resource cost. I saw that game before but forgot the outcome. Breaking tutrtle terran is a tough challange. You can send endless waves of ling bane ofc, but resources are not endless. Famous "a move army" consists like from ling bane ultra corruptor will trade 2-to-1 at best with the terran. If not 3-to-1. Reynor did an amazing job of surviving and recovering from such a disasterous start.
@Lowko: Correct me if I'm wrong, but 600APM is 5 buttons a second, right (as in pressing and releasing a button is an action, each)? Also, apparently there is a feature in SC2 to measure effective actions per minute (EPM) sincs patch 1.4.3, wich supposedly measures actual commands only, not spammed ones.
I think the issue was Cure army tech transition was too late, 35 minutes into the games and he still 30 Marines in the army, you want to trade them out for more Ghost / Hellbat /Libs / Tanks.
I don't play starcraft but I do enjoy the videos from Lowko, Pig and Florencio. I can say that in my opinion, Zerg is the most powerful race in the game.
Great video as always Lowko, keep up the good work, been a fan for many years now, however Not having the widget to see the amount of workers killed has made my disappointment unmeasurable and ruined my day. 😂
I seriously do no know how raynor controlled that... couple vipers, couple infestors, lurkers, broodlords ling bane (I guess his mutas were dead by then). Definitely using that 600 apm... And cure was matching him all the way. If it wasn't for that fungal on the ghosts, cure could have won this. (reynor still had a bank but with no more mining from raynor, cure still had a decent chance)
Honestly, I don't see any value in the APM. I've seen many players who are literally just flicking back and fore on two keys, apparently just to keep their APM up. I see EFFECTIVE Actions Per Minute as far more valuable. When you see players dancing individual units out of fire, superb micro and keeping battlefield knowledge high. That's the kind of thing that is truly valuable and important.
You need to separate your muta group into 3 smaller groups, that way they interrupt all the ghosts while the main army closes the distance. This is the optimal way to counter ghosts, but I've never actually seen a pro player do it.
this whole game couldve been dropping lings in the main of the terran to clear missle turrets wouldve caused so much pressure and opened up to mutas. so forcing the marines to stay in main for cheap lings
Have anyone seen some game in the past few months where terran won against zerg in pro scene (not complaining)? I saw one like a week ago, Maru vs Ragnarok if i remember correctly, but for the life of me can't remember last time before that. I don't say it can't happen, just that i would like to see it, for a change... Any links would be much appreciated, tnx. Awesome game btw, really could not tell the winner before the big fight near the end. Edit: Just found one about a month ago, Dark vs Clem, must have missed it....
This comment is a bit unrelated but the lack of Protoss players in the top10 tells you Blizzard should give some buff to Protoss. They are supposed to be sky superior which isn't the case as of the moment.
Cure was basically dead at the 21minute mark. Mutalisk harass was strong, probably some random widow mine placement could have been better than static turrets
mutas as an answer to gresvan shows why blizzard is terrified to buff them. zerg wouldn't have any bad maps if they mutas were always an answer. looks like reynor barely made it work, and if cure were used to it, probably couldn't have.
Same. I think it's the fact that zerg has such amazing units that can be mixed and matched in whatever way the player wants, and if their army dies they have a brand new maxed out one in 30 seconds or less. Terran only really has bio units. Mech has always been highly situational and not nearly as versatile and powerful as bio armies. Terran also doesn't really have the same kind of ridiculously powerful spellcaster units. Terran late game boils down to MMM + Ghost, with Sieges for support, and Terran just doesn't have many good answers to the kind of harass that we saw in this game. Missile turrets are theoretically good against air harass, but mutas just crap all over those since they have no AoE damage. Idk, I hate the Zerg.
This is an example of why the only way you can fight against Zerg is to constantly attack them. Cure's mistake was not pouring on the pressure early on when he had control of the middle of the map. He shouldn't have been dancing back and forth, he should have been killing Queens and Drones with constant Marine drops while keeping the Siege Tanks home to defend. Cure should have been leveraging the overwhelming power of stimmed Marines to shut down Zerg as soon as he had an edge. Terran has no great answer to Mutalisks or Lurkers -- everything that can deal with them is either not great in other engagements (Vikings, Liberators) or very vulnerable to Zerglings (Thors, Ghosts). More and more we are seeing late games that dramatically favor Zerg because pro players can manage multiple control groups with ease.
I suggest you to watch the game 2 of that bo5, Wardi casted it and you can see that breaking a terran who is behind is always ultra difficult if he is good to turtle. Reynor struggled in late game vs terran the last months, even if he starts well the game. So I don't think you are completely true even though I don't totally disagree on some points.
1:48 no one who understand care about apm. its inflated bs that are mostly coursed by allowing the "hack" of auto repeat rate keys... but ofc using a keypad is forbidden; and obv using other such "helpers" like say auto-mouse adjust or auto unit pick etc. which is the same bs is ofc hacking as well ':P xD i hate apm spam counter bs. its like click counters in mmo for engagement, it only makes the game more shitty
3:23 so how you feel about apm shit now+ both top 5 in the world and can't even perfectly, or decently, micro when there is under 10 units to micro on map.... i fking hate apm spam taking all focus from not playing stupid and using all the available tools; which no pro does -.-
Cant agree more, to support your argument I put another example of big APM zero performance: I can control 1 single unit and get 1000~2000 apm by using rapid-fire (reducing refresh rate) or 400-500 by simply clicking the unit around. The whole APM = skill argument is pretty garbage just like how judging performance by kill count/damage counter in MOBA game. APM only somewhat half matters when it transitions into victories. High APM and lose = joke.
But repeat rate software makea a lot of sense. I tried it once, and you lliterally cant play without it, even coop missions. Yes, APM is inflated, but with the software you can morph 100 banes in 0.1 sec, while on standard Win settings it's like 2 seconds. It's like an eternity. I dont think Reynor's APM is inftaled too much though. If you ever saw FPV, sometimes it's nauseating to watch. Even if you used to play zerg youeself and use camera hotkeys and such.
I love games where I don't know who's going to win until the last few minutes!
Think that was first late game non-Terran win on Gresvan that I've seen. What a game!
cure doesn't micro ghosts well. the pack of broodlords in the north was practically idling there waiting for snipes that never happened.
Damn I regret opening the comments lol

The game really was a really good one. Both sides were pretty even, up until that massive fight at 35:28.
I wish there was a high prize off-race tournament, where the pros can't ignore it because it's too lucrative. They cannot play their main for it. I think it would be interesting to see if any emergent strategies develop from it.
phenomenal! I love the idea of Raynor making the muta-ling-bane play style great again
So entertaining AND kinda quick with no clear dominance for most of it.
Game of the year, anyone?
Thanks!
Damn now that was an incredible game. Well played by both of them until the very end!
Woah that was great! Amazing casting as always lowko!
Gresvan is an amazing map for broods, the wedges between the ramp and the center top and bottom edges of the map are extremely defensible for broods while also in striking distance of two bases
Such an epic game!!! loved it all the way through, love to see two SC2 titans go head to head with very different play-styles thanks Lowko!
What a game. Thank you!
@lowkoTV thanks for great SC commentary! I really enjoy it 😊

If there is an unit that gains value over time, it is the zerling.
When reaper dies:
Lowko :Finally revenge 🎉🤣 5:17
Really good back and forth game. This is why TvZ is the GOAT.
One of a kind game maybe game of the year? That was some of the best infestor play I've ever seen.
Fantastic game. This is one of the best if not THE best eras in all of Starcraft's history. That top 10 chart is full of absolute monsters.
What are the 6, punch and spider icons top right at the beginning of the video?
Genuinely one of the most entertaining games I’ve seen
@Lowko:

As always ty for your hard work and dedication!!! glhf fam :D
Now, THIS is the Game of the Year! Reynor showing us how to play Zerg in 2023.
Les unités aérienne dans chaque race sont vraiment insane... Tu peut presque tout gagné avec si elle sont les bonnes mise a niveau !❤❤❤
Tremendous play with incredible speed and multi-tasking.
Cure needed more air support in that battle. That was a winnable game.
I think the issue was Cure army tech transition was too late, 35 minutes into the games and he still 30 Marines in the army, you want to trade them out for more Ghost / Hellbat /Libs / Tanks.
is SCV kill count notification off in this observer mode?
Would going mass Liberators work vs Lurkers AND Mutas?
I think hydras would counter it, and you need hydras for lurkers
I don't play starcraft but I do enjoy the videos from Lowko, Pig and Florencio.
I can say that in my opinion, Zerg is the most powerful race in the game.
this is the most neat zerg game i've seen in a while, the fact that this worked against cure is impressive!
WOW. What a GAME! Return of the Zerg King Raynor!
Brutal Match!
Such a good match, not gonna lie this actually might be game of the year.
I love going mutas even though I'm not that fast. As long as you'r APM is faster than your opponent, they're not too bad. :P
It's all about hitting the RIGHT SPOT!
Reynor running that BLM build. Bane Lurker Muta.... lmao... lings go with every build so they dont need a letter hahaha
what a match! at 1 min I cheked if it was a Bo3, but no, it was an endless slaughter
Wow, it's possible for Terran to lose in Gresvan in the late game
Great video as always Lowko, keep up the good work, been a fan for many years now, however Not having the widget to see the amount of workers killed has made my disappointment unmeasurable and ruined my day. 😂
What a game, if anyone could do it Reynor could do it you’re god damn right

That's what she said
What a fuckin match, awesome

That top 10 is missing gumiho.
Guess hes in my personal top 10 XD
Awesome game. It was a real banger! LOL.
shows that mistakes in the early game can be made up for. Never give up!
I don't think Reynor would approve that ketchup analogy

Surely the Terran counter for Mutalisks is Vikings?
why did cure not build vikings?
They aren't good against mutas; liberators are much better
great game!

15 terran cabal members are triggered that zerg can win on this map.
Game of the year!
Am I early? Looking forward to watching this! Keep it up lowko!

This is GG....
BUT NOT FOR ME!
I love games where ***spoilers*** loses in the late game.
you should upload 2 or 3 vid a day, one is not enough man
600!!! hoooooooooooooooow ?
Nice!
best game in a while
😱😱😱q brutal mrdaa
@LowkoTV I live in Rotterdam can I buy you a beer bro?
That was a great game. 🎉 zerg!
I love seeing Terrans lose on Terran favored maps 🎉❤
Does raynor play any terran or he switched completely?
Has he ever played Terran?
@@ldn_rumrunner he plays all 3 races. He has videos of him reaching 7k MMR on random
strong GOTY candidate
F for the mutas
Terran need a buff
Or banshee can attack flying unit
Scores whited out? Just a mistake or purposely? (Edit mvm just realized it's one round only... holy cow must be a good one if this long lol)
reynor is a zerg? what's next kerragun is a protoss?
Does Cure play better standard than world champion Normal man does
LowKo eats a COUPLE of boogers for breakfast.
too early for me back to bed
I don't know what is wrong with me. I just hate Zerg winning so much

*spoiler alert* wait a minute.... is it really possible to see a terran with 20 ghosts- tanks lose the game !?!? incredible game
Hero terran!!
Speed banes are so broken zvt.
Okay
Your meds are in the kitchen, you know to get them on your own
