- Ram Jethmalani talks about controversial cases, his career, personal life and Narendra Modi with Shoma Chaudhury at Algebra, The Arts & Ideas Club, Gurugram on 13-May 2017.
The sagacious Ram Jethmalani says, “Modi, the BJP and I made terrible promises to the people of India and after Modi has come to power, none of these have been fulfilled,” considering the present state of the country. He has now committed himself to serve the nation.
He also recounts his encounters with the nefarious and the most controversial cases he has fought.
Ram Jethmalani, an erudite Indian lawyer, is also the former Union Law Minister and chairman of the Bar Council of India. Having kickstarted his career at the age of 18, he is known for his work in the field of criminal law.

So much to learn from this conversation. Ram Jethmalani was a very good person. Had he remained the minister longer in atal behari vajpayee's cabinet, he would have cleaned up both the ministries of urban affairs and law&justice.

My interaction with Ram Jetmalani goes back to the year 1966 - 67 in connection with a case of an innocent person who was arrested by Mumbai police for wrong reasons in the matter of Gaunkar case of gold smuggling. The person by name Alex from my native place took me to Ram's flat at
Cuffe Parade and after negotiations he settled for fees of Rs.Ten thousand.
The amount was paid to me immediately and in the first hearing only the judge acquitted Alex.
Later on I had many meetings with him through command friends like MP's of Janata Government Mr. Ratansing Rajda and Ram invited me when he formed Young MP club in Vignan Bhavan, New Delhi and also introduced to Prime Minister Mr. Morarji Desai.
Our interactions continued for long periods till his passing away.

Ram was Rambo of Law(unto himself!)❤ Yes,I did meet him once for a while in 1981 in departure lounge of Bombay Santa Cruz Airport.He looked like an army man! While I say this, after few minutes I met our former Field Marshall Sam Maneckshaw too!! I think both were on same flight to Delhi. Sad we miss both of these great guys!❤ 🌹 🙏
