Thanks for making my day guys. These beautiful kids are having a great time with their beautiful voices, and making the world a better place at the same time.
This is so delightful. So much joy. Reminds me of old times, when I sang with my children's choir. We met friday afternoon, nobody in the music school really cared about us, but we had the greatest afternoons.. Not asking why we did what we did. Just enjoying being alive and making music. Nothing else. As simple as this.
He may or may not have a fantastic future as a counter-tenor - or, indeed, as a Bass or a Tenor (or even as the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers) - all these things will come to pass as they may, but that was NOT counter-tenor. That was a young teenage boy with a late voice-change singing TREBLE, in a duet with his female classmate singing Soprano. And very good they were too - very good indeed - but there was no counter-tenor anywhere in sight.
@@markcheckley3715 thank you so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to point out to me how wrong i was to express an opinion on this video. i stand corrected and shall endeavour to ask your permission in future if i want to say anything.
Bravo you two Beautifully performed , you both have lovely voices. This is not exactly the easiest song to sing, you've tackled it very professionally. 👏👏👏👏
Le si bécarre au lieu du si bémol du début dans le premier ornement de la jeune fille est probablement une erreur mais je le trouve...charmant ! Je l'attends à chaque fois que j'écoute cette version !
Why not start now? I always wanted to play the trumpet, so asked myself the above question and “took it up” at age 75. I’m having so much fun!! Please, you could be too.
Fabulous! Magnificent! Softer piano/harpsichord next time. Would that I could live to see these two in 10 years!
Antonin was born in 1996 - this was april 2013, making him 16 or even 17 and his voice still had not broken? If correct, that would be exceptional , as mostly treblevoices break at 13-14 maximum 15, or am I not correct informed? Pascal, how old was he here exactly?
Indeed, he was 16 and a half at the time, which is indeed exceptional! This allowed him as a soprano to perform difficult works such as Britten's Turn of the Screw, which he would not have been able to do at 12 or 13 years old.
@@crocozon Thank you Pascal for an interesting answer. I am not a treblevoice-expert at all, but once I was introduced to this voicetype, because of the famous Northern Irish tenor James Johnston(1903-1991) from Belfast who was a boy soprano himself and later , when famous, sponsoring "Belfast boy" Billy Neely(1935-2012), an extremely gifted treble voice, popular in the whole UK mainly 1946-1950(thanks to James Johnston) I was quite impressed and since then I know how to appreciate this voicetype. This Billy also became a tenor (like Antonin) and did his last boy-concert on Christmas Eve 1950, when he was almost 15,5 (born July 1935), which was already fairly old (I don't keep scores, so there might be older ones easily) , so 16,5 for Antonin is really old ánd amazing. He also doesn't look 16,5 here, I rather thought he was abt 14, hence explaining his vocal qualities. Glad he continued and that he is now a gifted tenor. A nice document for him for later that he was still able to perform as a boy soprano at this age. Good luck to him as a tenor! Best regards from Holland.
Pascal, 2 years later... just listened to Antonin's "Dämmrung senkte sich von oben"(J. Brahms) sang the day before yesterday (18-5-2024) , which performance proved how far he has come today. Absolutely brilliant, indeed a rising star among the (many) tenors. From 16,5 to now (about) 28 years of age, he has certainly made enormous progress in the decade in between. Many compliments for Antonin with the wish for a fascinating career. Best regards from the Netherlands
I've listened to this more than once and it never fails to brighten my day and cheer my soul. I am also very interested as to the composer/arranger of this accompaniment. It may seem boisterous to some but it most certainly has more bounce to the ounce than most I've heard. Who is the publisher or was this actually a continuo realization on the part of the accompanist?
As stated below, the duet is by Henry Purcell, part of his "Come Ye Sons of Art" (an ode for Queen Mary's Birthday) from 1694. Purcell's original score called for various instruments. However, the published version would most likely have been a figured bass score, i.e., the two voices and the bass line with numbers underneath to indicate the inner harmonies. Back in his time, the keyboard player would have been expected to improvise the part based on those figures. However, there are many realizations published since in which a composer/arranger writes out their realization so that a keyboardist who doesn't have that improvisatory skill can accompany singers. I don't know if that's the case here, or if this pianist is realizing it on the spot.
So fun to hear the boy take the higher part with the girl on the alto. Beautiful!
Bravo, bravo. Magnificant voices indeed. No show, no fancy costumes, but pure singing. It was a joy listening .
A lovely way to start the day. Well done both, especially getting over the verge of cracking up with laughter. Beautiful. Well done the pianist ,too!
Thanks for making my day guys. These beautiful kids are having a great time with their beautiful voices, and making the world a better place at the same time.
The boy is fantastic...
And she very pretty.
She is also an excellent singer.
Who needs to sound the trumpet when these folk sing. Rather listen to them, better than trumpets any day!!!!!!
I never get tired of listening to these two talented young people! Really enjoyable!
Excellent English pronounciation, and an excellent pianist too. Bravi tutti!

What a lovely pair of young voices! Both will go places, if they keep it up!
sadly the boys voice would have been gone in less than a year .
He became a tenor and is now a professional singer 😉
I don’t know what the girl is doing now, she was very talented too. I hope she keeps up singing !
Qué dúo más hermoso... Suena precioso.
absolutely brilliant! he was a fantastic future as a counter-tenor, the clarity of tone was wonderful! 🙂

Wonderful voices
Certainement la plus touchante version de tout TH-cam... Bravo
They clearly have an excellent teacher and coach.
Olivier Lacoste were their coach at CRR de Paris.
If that boy is as old as he looks I'm very surprised he has a higher voice. Such a gift and well presented! Not an easy piece to sing. Bravo!
The girl is so sweet, self conscious, shy and holding back giggles..haha.. wonderful!
I love how they almost giggle.... the boy has a great voice
What a natural blend of exquisite voices.
Beautiful! ❤
excellent performance and great diction from these French kids. It's a difficult piece this.
Most enjoyable. Well done.
Beautiful!
Such talent in such young people! I do hope they continue to bring such joy to the world as adults!
GREAT and thanks for the link to follow the young tenor
They're both incredible - Antonin did the opening crescendo perfectly.
Both of them are terrific! I’m doing this song for my sixth grade opus competition team this year... and this definitely helped me be more confident!
