As a sailor I’d love to see an mkbhd video on the sport! All the instruments on board would make a great video by itself, to imagine an entire video about all the tech that goes into yacht racing would be wonderful
As someone who's been in and around America's Cups, Volvo Ocean Races and SailGP my literal whole life (born during a Volvo Ocean Race, dad worked/still does work on the campaigns and materials technology side), I can absolutely confirm that the technology from both an engineering and materials pov, as well as with realtime statistics, hydraulics etc, these boats are some of the most advanced the world has ever seen, and would be amazing to do a deep dive on them!
Personally I think the tech in the long range singlehanded racing yachts like the Gitana 17 is more interesting. The America's cup yachts have a large crew to do a lot of things manually, but the transatlantic yachts have to automate almost everything so they can keep racing at 40+ knots while the captain is sleeping.
I used to be amazed at what was invested during my grandparents' early life (planes, electricity, indoor plumbing, A/C, telephones, etc). The big things I remember being w/o was microwaves, answering machines, call waiting, caller ID, home computers, VCRs/DVDs, cell phones, Internet....some of these things were a big deal and now they're ancient/gone technology (CD players). Technology is moving so fast that it's difficult to appreciate them when they come and go.
great point, i was surprised to find out microwaves came to our world to make coffee in space, no wonder its still a time champion in the kitchen, sure its not the most sexy looking output and taste but how we going to find all these time to put our eyes through all these tech even if they are produced. i think the problem with modern tech/society is too much shine that causes low ownership volumes due to price or too much bell shine and it doesn't last the test of time which leads to lower buyer will although I know companies need consumers to endless buy aka till the afterlife or there wont be CE anything in the future so its kind of a hard one...kind of like does war or peace build a better future...its almost to a degree that all those companies past the 3rd ranking in each field is just there so people can have food on the table I mean, people likely just want 3 categories: the best/most expensive, the fastest/safest and maybe the easiest/cheapest...not sure if we can encourage those companies ranking in innovation terms too low down the list to just merge workforce to create more innovation or just bring down cost for the better/best innovation so more people can own it to actually help society move towards a happier place rather than this item ownership is good because others cant afford it and selling that feeling has become more important than the product itself..
I think a primary reason is how the economy works. Ideally, we would like companies to invent and improve things before selling them so that each new product would be a significant event & everyone would want one, but companies with ambition need a constant cashflow to build up their manufacturing and fund R&D, so a lot of tech comes out and is heavily marketed which is really only 20% of the product that company actually wants to make, but they control the rate of development and experimentation - and the need to change a lot of the manufacturing pipeline of the previous product - for the sake of money. The consumerist mentality of always wanting the newer shinier thing has proven to he the most lucrative and targetable, so most products feel like a small incremental update now. Even after a significant breakthrough it may not shine as much as, say, the invention of the fridge or microwave, because a) most of our basic needs are fully met and modern tech is mostly luxuries (outside of special needs), and b) prototypes are marketed and sold as amazing cutting edge products and the tech grows alongside us instead of in a lab.
Personally i'm very excited for the sports videos. I think it's fascinating to learn some of the high tech gadgets top athletes use to train and to improve their performances, and also the whole TV Graphics things and simulations and so on always fascinated me. Man a type of smart glasses that could feed information (using an earbud) on what it is seeing to poor- or non-sighted people would be such a great way to leverage multimodal AI with AR.
Tech I'm excited about: Humane (which I bet you have already been asked to test) Comma I think these are much more disruptive than anything you mentioned even if they fail. Both represent a shift in thinking way beyond EVs or headsets. Both have affordable hardware on the market already.
I feel likes apples vision’s biggest issue will be it’s battery life, it’s built and marketed like something you wear around your house all the time.. what there not telling you is you will have to take breaks every 3-4 hours to charge it..
There's also weight and software. With a full aluminum body full of cameras, lenses and sensors, I can't imagine anyone wearing this thing for more than an hour, much less over 3. And would it even be worth the trouble if the apps aren't compelling enough?
@@ColorblindMonk really ? I see it the complete opposite, I really do think some people not everyone will wear these for hours on end at home.. everyone is glued to there phones, why not glue that to your head ?
I can see a future where there'll be AI in our houses, like in "Why him?" movie; an assistant that could help you with anything and could genuine feel like you're talking to someone, an AI that could even teach you and feel like you're actually talking to a teacher that is always present etc.. something extremely helpful, it could also help people who is lonely or doesnt have the chance to talk to people for other conditions.
3:19 There's a number of things that I'm curious about such as head fatigue (because of the weight), profuse sweating, disorientation after prolong use and band marks left around your head. 4:42 You're right Marquis the simple fact that Ai can give you precise feedback on input of multiple source is a next level advancement in Ai technology. I truly anticipate what Ai Multimodal can be like. 8:40 I totally agree phonemakers should spontaneously surprise us with some bold design such as a rear micro display screen or RGB led lights around the camera bump. 9:35 EVs are truly shaping up to be evolutionary.
Really shows how defensive the OS lock-in is. Not needing to put out product innovation in 20 years and still printing money is wild. Only monopolies can do that.
I've tried all the generations briefly and I was taken aback at how much of a legit improvement gen 3 was. No more jittery head micromovements, and solid immersion. Honestly some of the most improvement over 3 generations I've seen

I love how balanced you are in your journalism. A lot of other tech TH-camrs have such sensational claims just to get views...
Finally getting closer to have my own personal Jarvis 👏🏾
Don’t tell me that this is one of the easter eggs at 5:40 . I’m definitely excited if that’s a hint for “MKBHD designed smartphone!”🤩
(The smartwatch shaped thingys beside the plant)
I really wish that we would finally get a refresh on the Airpod Max, those need to have some flaws fixed + migrate towards USB-C.
Some stability regarding Matter would be welcome too, so that it's easier than ever to do some home automation.
Vision Pro looks dope too, hope I'll be able to try it in-store.
As for collab videos, hella yes! Cleo-styled with a slice of MKBHD is always dope to see, especially if well animated/explained. 👍🏻
As for the eastern eggs, hope somebody will post those (and maybe get pinned?) haha. 😋
Man a type of smart glasses that could feed information (using an earbud) on what it is seeing to poor- or non-sighted people would be such a great way to leverage multimodal AI with AR.
A MKBHD X Throttle House collab on the Auto Focus channel would be 🔥
Tech I'm excited about:
Humane (which I bet you have already been asked to test)
Comma
I think these are much more disruptive than anything you mentioned even if they fail.
Just a thought of wearing those all the time around your house gives me strong dystopian black mirror vibes
@@bizybee8192 cuz neck strain and eye fatigue is much worse in VR than a phone
@@wasylbasylBecause black mirror completely butchered how VR works
i often forget how perfect the AUTO FOCUS name is for the series on this channel. It's perfect ✨
There is a whole channel as well
Out of focus
Happy 18 mill 🎉
I can see a future where there'll be AI in our houses, like in "Why him?" movie; an assistant that could help you with anything and could genuine feel like you're talking to someone, an AI that could even teach you and feel like you're actually talking to a teacher that is always present etc.. something extremely helpful, it could also help people who is lonely or doesnt have the chance to talk to people for other conditions.
Excited for what’s to come!
New intro is a rlly nice fresh coat of paint
Great job as always Michael 👌
Why does the transition at 0:26 feel so off?
Everytime Apple puts out something I always wonder what Microsoft is going to do to counter it.
But really, they don't do much.
microsoft has had it's AR/VR headset for over 6 years now, it's called holowlans
Really shows how defensive the OS lock-in is. Not needing to put out product innovation in 20 years and still printing money is wild. Only monopolies can do that.
Microsoft has a much more diverse product portfolio than Apple. Apple doesn't sell cloud services for example, those print money
@@The_Comment_Dude Respect😎
Apple and Microsoft don't really directly compete anymore
Hopefully by the end of the year I get my cyber truck in been waiting a long time for it
No way u getting a cybertruck
iPad not having a release in 2023 just makes sense. You need to update those even less than phones.
I'd love to see a meta quest 3 review and comparison to previous vr tech. It's really getting popular and super good value at this price point.
I've tried all the generations briefly and I was taken aback at how much of a legit improvement gen 3 was. No more jittery head micromovements, and solid immersion. Honestly some of the most improvement over 3 generations I've seen
I also support a drone video or generally what DJI is doing. Their camera/gimbal stuff is pretty cool on its own as well.
I was at Best Buy recently and an employee referred to you as the OG of reviewers...had to laugh outloud. As a 66 year old retired EE it was humorous to hear you are the OG! Welcome to the club!
The dog prosthetic vid was an absolute banger. Looking forward for more of that!
Would love to see more videos about non premium tech. Like cool gadgets under $50 or just cheap tech that is super useful
They don't have the budget for MKBHD to make videos about them
@@EinfachFredhaftGamingI mean the companies don’t need to sponsor it. Just Stuff that Marques and Team are using daily?
@@freeride_noah a dude making 100k a month is surely using low quality tech
Considering the shared interest in sports-related tech, I'd love to see you guys collaborate with the Corridor Digital crew. They just made a video regarding the VFX of live sports so I feel it'd be a nice fit.
Would love to see more of the software side of things. For example...your thoughts on the various features each manufacturer of Android phones adds to their OS.
8:43 MKBHD phones?
I would love to see you collab with someone in the VFX or art space. Like Corridor Crew or Jazza. There's a lot of tech involved in drawing, motion graphics and concepting that lots of folks outside those fields might not know about!
Happy 2024 for ya sir!. I love the idea of Tech in Sports. And YES, more like the F1 type of videos. Some others may be: Low cost options to expensive / premium products. Tech in our daily lives (or like ..."is tech serving us, or do we serve tech?" approach.) YES to collabs. Maybe doing it with smaller channels to help them ramp up? (that is something no other big channel has ever made, at least in tech industry), like "Discovering good channels" and inviting them for a podcast or so. And yes, I am up for it ; )
Me re-watching this video trying to spot the easter eggs. 🔎
let me know if you find them
Same
which phone would you recommend Google pixel 7 pro or google pixel 8
s23
Love your video style and your thoughtful ideas. Your videos never disappoint :)
6:59 - Marques you genius, don’t tell me that little speed up of your voice was actually an intentional edit right as your finger fast-forwarded the video on screen~
oh yeah I uesrd ot
The SloMoGuys or a Dude Perfect collab! Either of them would be amazing, but Gav and Dan could really showcase some amazing tech in slow motion, like how they did with the episode on capturing light. I would watch that for sure! Either way, you are a great guy all around and I always tune in for your takes on technology, very unbiased and very relatable channel. I wish you the best and even more success from Hungary
I second the Slo Mo Guys collab idea. Video heaven!
What about the foldable iPad??
In 2004 we had an iPod release, in 2014 we had the iPhone 6. This year we have the Apple Vision Pro. I’m hella impressed how tech advances so quick, I believe is almost impossible to know what we’ll have in 2044 for example. Absolutely insane
There won’t be a 2044 👀
I would love more sports tech content!! Maybe even another channel somewhere down the line there is a ton of interesting things to look at among the big 4 U.S. sports, and I’m sure even more amazing tech in niche sports across the world.
Would love a yearly update on the Tesla roof. It'd be interesting to hear about efficiency gains or losses and the cost changes
It’s a fake product and it’s garbage. There’s your update Pal
If you do more sports tech videos, I'd love to see one on MotoGP.
*for some reason TH-cam recommended me a video of yours from like 14 years ago. YOUVE COME SUCH A LONG WAY AND ITS AMAZING TO SEE THAT YOUVE STAYED TRUE TO YOURSELF! Keep growing*
