This content is so great. As owners, we have to understand our dog's body language in order for us to protect them.
This looking back is something I have never seen ever. This seems to me a totally different approach to teaching dogs- usually I see I am going to dominate you into submission.

That's right. At home I have a 15 years old yorkshire terrier lady, she was terrible with other dogs. Not any more, because her age made her calm down a lot. Her mother on the other hand was the best behaved yorkshire terrier I ever had. Without training at all, all we needed was to look at each other, that was incredible. I do not want my new dog, 11 weeks old puppy to become like my fifteen years old Lucy in her behaviour so I'm gonna follow this channel. Please, more videos, Nigel Reed. And thanks a lot in advance.
Bella saw a fox in the area where I let her run around off lead, she looked at the fox, then back at me,
I gave her the it's okay and she just pottered around as usual, the fox went behind the fence and was looking pretty confused at the fact that Bella hadn't barked at it or tried to chase it.
Which is all down to Bella trusting me to deal with any perceived danger and to protect her from it.
There was a situation when my cousin's youngest son was about 2 years old and still in a buggy, I had Bella with me picking up my children from school and was standing chatting with my cousin. A couple of junkies and their dog who was off the lead were walking towards where we were all together,
I've spotted the potential danger of a dog off the lead who we don't know,
So I walked around and put myself in between the dog and the buggy. Bella stood behind me and had her body across my little cousin who loved having Big fluffy Bella cuddles anyway.
The potential threat walked past with no issues and Bella didn't make a sound.
My cousin still remembers the day Bella protected her son and her son still likes having cuddles with Bella. He is now 7 and Bella is 10.

I should also mention that Bella is an Alpha female,
So her training took longer as she fought me until she understood that I could protect her from any perceived danger that she saw.
I had to find a trainer to help me, help Bella and I'm lucky enough to found Nigel who is a fantastic teacher as he assesses not just your dog but you and he knew Bella's issues within 20 minutes and then asked me if I had any ideas as to what they were. Before telling me that she was indeed Alpha female and when I told the breeder that Bella was Alpha they asked if I wanted to continue being her Guardian as Alphas can be extremely challenging to train and I had an 8yo and a 6yo in the house. I told them that I had found a fantastic trainer and that I was up for the challenge.
Hard work paid off and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Nigel is the only person I would go to for advice because his method works.
I also used the same methods with my ex stray Bengal Cross cat Kara and it works for her too.
Obviously I know dogs and cats are different but all cats need is more patience and they will soon follow.
No free feeding for Bella or Kara, even though Kara gets little and often.
We have the same dog name
I appreciate the level of explanation of dog behaviour that is given. It's certainly helping me to understand my own dog's behaviour and demeanor. A central asian ovcharca joined our family this year (he's coming up to 2 years old), and while he is a very well behaved pup in most contexts, he gets very excited to greet other dogs (a real problem because he is enormous and other dogs tend to be fearful), and he is guarding at home, with some separation anxiety. I feel more prepared for the work ahead knowing I understand what he is feeling better. I'm binging these videos now!

thank you! this was really helpful! especially with the short sequences of dogs and their behaviour. Trust has been a big thing over here with our dog. It has been a long journey and we've come far, but we aren't at the end yet. since a few weeks she trusts me with bikes and people jogging, which is huge! we've come from barking and jumping to walking calm next to me and sniffing the grass, looking at me and just be chill about it. i've read your book which helped me a lot in training and understanding her! still your videos are so helpful, there are always new things to learn. for example: i couldn't tell the difference between the two types of barking when the door rings. i thought she still tries to handle it herself, with the example videos i understood: its just her telling me "there is something". sometimes its the little things that make all the difference! thank you so much for being a guide on our way, yours has been by far the best advice i got (and a lot of people give a lot of (mostly unwanted) advice when it comes to dog training). I found your channel yesterday and have been bingeing your videos! Lots of good info, especially the ones where you show a before, process, and after. We have an 8mo german shepherd mix pup who is very friendly and pretty good off-leash, but over the past few month has become very protective over us (me specifically) and has increased his barking and lunging significantly, both at home and on walks. He loves playing with other dogs, but started barking and lunging whenever we passed one on leash. That has escalated to the same behavior when passing people. We thought it was simply excitement, but it makes total sense that this behavior is related to him feeling like he has to protect us rather than the other way around. We started working with him this morning with techniques from your video with Jazz. He is a quick learner, but we will need to be careful to not derail his progress while getting his energy out each day. We live in a small apartment and will likely need to do a lot of our training at a local park. I do have a question around the isolation piece of showing dominance at home = when we shut him in the bathroom, he cries and tries to jump on the door to get out. Is this counterproductive since he is presumably not thinking about why I put him in there, but rather the fact that he is in there and doesn't want to be? How long should I leave him in isolation before bringing him out?
He will understand he is in there because you did not like his behaviour. It is natural he will protest because he thinks he needs to protect the house. Keep him in until he calms.
@@nigelreed he is calm in the bathroom, but he is resisting going in. The second we grab his collar and pull, he pulls back. He's nearly 80lbs and I don't want to hurt him by pulling, but also don't want to call him to "come" and risk jeopardizing his recall progress. He is already doing much better - looking to me when I say "good boy" rather than continuing to bark, but how would you suggest handling the resistance if he does continue barking and is pulling back on his collar?
Resistance is natural. I would have him on lead. Or I would se if just moving back was enough.
Thank you so much for this video and the one on fear aggression...I adopted my dog from a public shelter. She was 20 lbs under weight and had suffered abuse. She is now physically strong and a healthy 85 lbs but is fearful of strangers. She moves to my side or behind me and looks back and forth from me to the stranger but barks her uneasiness. I had already adopted the use of "good girl...it's a friend" but your video has clarified for me more methodical/deliberate steps to follow to provide her confidence not just in my ability to control the situation but also confidence that I would never ask of her something that she is not ready to handle. She is a breed already mistrusted (illegal in Great Britain) and the last thing I need is for people to think I have a mean dog when she is just a scared dog.

She is scared but she also feels she has to protect herself.

I have a doodle who is 2, and still bites pretty hard when he gets excited to see someone. Any advice on how to break that? I'm excited to use some of the other techniques I've learned from Nigel. Working on being able to be off leash in a park setting!

I'm happy to say that Sugar, the resident dog, let me deal with everything, and I also trust her judgement and interaction with other dogs. Yet Roy, the rescue dog, still pulls ahead to look around the corner before me. I've been trying to put him behind me physically like you're doing, but he is only 20 months old, and pulling is his thing at this stage. He's stopped barking on the wrong side of the fence, and his recall is amazing. He's not been with me for 4 months yet and was not cared for so in time, and a lot of love will remedy this. He's now peeing like a male, and his tail is up on walks.

I just came across your videos & think they're great! After watching this video, I know now that my dog definitely doesn't trust me & of course that makes me feel like a failure. Can you point me to one of your videos that deals with dogs who bark & lunge at guests? My dog is very smart, can do so many tricks and listens to numerous commands... however she forgets everything & loses it when someone visits. It's very frustrating & I want to train my dog correctly, along with gaining her trust of course. Thank you!

Great video. I see many of these behaviors in my dogs. Sometimes if I am inside and my dog is outside barking, she sometimes comes in to get me to come and check out the situation.

I'm in another situation: I'm thinking about getting a puppy (my first own dog) and I want to train her and give her confidence from the very first day she will be in my home. Another great video 👌 thanks. We just adopted a 2yr old American staffy cross, so have read your book and am implementing slowly. His status rises very quickly. But he doesn't get aggressive or bark, so I don't always catch the trigger. Also, I can't walk him as he doesn't feel safe out of the garden yet... lots of anxiety, So am a little worried about how to exercise him, he doesn't know how to play, just tugs and growls and mouths, will lack of exercise make his issues worse? I am at a bit of a loss how to move forward!👍
Thanks for buying the book. It may make the issues come to the surface but making him feel safe and guiding him is more important. Stick to the stages!
I just got my recently adopted dog named Duke about a week ago and has a vicious bark towards other dogs either walking by the house or when we go for a walk. The method I have been using before is having Duke heal before we cross paths with the other dog, and Duke just cry's as we pass the other dog. By watching your video's now I know that I am the protector and just need Duke to know it.

My dog does all the right things in and around the house, but when taking her out she becomes worried and pulls back to come home, but if she sees someone or a dog she pulls towards them, she is very strong. She's a lab with a lovely nature but it's such hard work and embarrassing. I feel I've failed, but have done so much work with her which she has mastered. Please help.😊

I have never had a dog as an adult. We adopted a 2 year old shelter dog a month ago. Former home chained to a box for two years. He was removed by authorities. He’s big and rambunctious. When I walk him he looks back at me constantly. I always smile and tell him he’s doing a good job. I am surprised at how MUCH I love him already. We start private obedience training lessons next week.

Hi Nigel. I have watched a couple of your videos and certainly like what I see. I have a 5 year old Maltese who I got when he was 8 months old. I was living at the time in Dubai. My dog Teddy has got worse as time has gone on. He has had 3 dog trainers and all have given up on him. You covered a video about whether your dog trusts you as a leader. The 5 points my dog fails on all counts. I see a mixture of angst and excitement. He barks at every dog he sees. Postmen, kids, people with shopping trollies or even suitcases. The list is endless. When he’s in that zone he won’t look at me or pay attention. He clearly sees himself as the leader and feels he needs to protect me. Your videos look to me as something that works. I would like to know more and would be happy to talk or discuss this. Just to complicate life a little more, I live in Berlin!

We just adopted a small 2-year old male mixed breed rescue dog last week who has lots of bad manners and unruly behavior. I’ve been watching your videos and slowly adding your techniques. I love your calmness, the great descriptive explanations you give, and the easy approaches that have already helped me and little Rupert! He was supposed to be good around cats, but when we brought him home and slowly introduced one of the cats, he went a little wild! The cats are now terrified. Do you have any videos or words of advice on how to train him to reduce his excitedness and chase instinct when he hears or sees one of our cats? I need to get him to live peacefully with the cats or he’ll have to go back to the rescue, and we don’t want that to happen. Thank you for what you do!
Hi Judy, a careful introduction is needed by either having him on lead or getting used to the cats from another room separated by a stair gate.
I really liked that there was a comparison with Rex to help people visualize what you're talking about. My dog has gained a lot of confidence since having him a year ago, however dog reactivity is still a big issue for him. He's excelled at human reactivity and doesn't care when walking past a human now, is there any good exercises/training I can do to help build my dog's confidence further? I play with him a lot, which has helped build a bond but it feels like there's still a lack of confidence in me.

It is key is to have strong leadership foundations, manage the environment i.e use stooges, practice with dogs that are stationary, react quicker than your dog or take over when they do react before you. Overtime you should the confidence improve if not, revisit if you are doing all the above.

@@nigelreed mmmh Im not so sure...she was rescued from the streets by my son, on a rainy day,and she was aboyt 1 and a half month old, now she is close to 1 year old. I knew from the beggining that she might be dominant, certaing attitudes. But she is not agressive,only extra intelligent.. I bet I have to be more determinent than her... for now, is as far as I saw videos on the web, a very sensitive, anxious, frightened dog, and barks too much, is a mess on the leash.... Thank you so much for your resources. I was wondering if you have any advice for helping establish my role as protector at a vet visit? My dog tolerates going to the vet but will not let the veterinarian touch him and proceeds to hide under chairs and behind me and then growl when they continue trying.
He has to go in and get many lessons that build his confidence i.e go in and do not allow them to touch him, rather just treat him.
I have a sweet laid back dog until he sees another dog out of the window, or while on a leash. He recently pulled me to the ground while on a leash breaking free and going for another dog. I watched your video with Jaz the German Shepard. I made attempts to talk to him about how I am in control, thanking him, and looking out of the window to communicate that I will handle the matter. When I walk him I can certainly turn away from other dogs, turn the leash, and go the opposite way. The last step in your video, however, I do not know who to accomplish. I do not know anyone with a dog that I would feel comfortable getting Henry close to. He is not aggressive in the home (and we do have another dog ) but if I were to let another dog near I am uncertain as to what would happen.
You have to be resourceful in getting people to help. I ask random people and try and get closer.

This is brilliant. My puppy is 10 weeks old and my son has been rough with her at times and the other day he pushed her head down when she was sleeping and before we could react she did a low tone growl and again at me when I touched her in a sleeping position. She also growled at the vet yesterday when he approached her and tried to pick her up.

Hi Rebecca, you're probably need more than a few lines of advice, but in short, in every situation your dog's space was invaded. To avoid that people need to be very careful how they approach a dog. The best thing you can do is call the dog to you. If he doesn't come because he's tried, scared etc then that mist be respected.
You need to teach your son how to respect your dog. This could easily escalate into a situation whereby the dog retaliates and potentially bites him.
You should make a video on how to make him this trusting towards you

Since I have been learning your techniques my 4 daschunds have started to display all 5 positive signs. Not all the time so I keep practising what I’m doing, slowly and surely. Your philosophy makes sense and slowly it’s becoming second nature to me. I used to panic and feel helpless and now i know what to practice. Appreciate your work..

Hello sir, I need your help and I try to keep this really short. I'm planning to adopt a Siberia husky because the owner want to put it down because it's to agressive. I need your help because I already have a dog at home and I'm worried that they might fight. I know a fights will he there in the initial days but is it possible for them to get along in the future?
It is possible but I would split them up (behind a fence) until they showed calming signals to one another.
My Sabre German Shepherd is hopeless. I've adopted her 3 years ago and now she is 7 years old, but always protecting me and never trusting me to deal with danger. She always walks in front of me, always sits in front of me with her back towards me checking the environment and even got me belly down on my nose when I was walking her on a lead and she wanted to chase away a let loose small dog.
Hi! Your videos are great, thank you! have adopted a 5yr old Large Labradoodle, he is not use to having toys and eats all kinds of things, & I can’t get objects out of his mouth sometimes b:c he becomes aggressive . How do I teach him to drop things on command? I can’t use just regular toys to train b/c he will lay down with it and start tearing into it and swallowing it , it’s a dangerous problem... please help. Thank you :-)
Hi Rashelle, you can ask him to leave and reward him when he does. When he is not listening you can swap for a treat. Or close the door to where he is and leave him there to there so he realises not listening to you doesn't get him anywhere but you have to pick up anything valuable in this case.

Hi! I’m hoping you see this as it’s your most recent video. I have a 2 yr old Labrador that is well behaved inside but is a nightmare to walk. I’ve been trying your techniques to train him for 5 days now, but I’m finding it very difficult as he is twice as strong as me and has pulled me over before. There are many dogs in my neighbourhood that he will drag me down the street to meet during training which can be dangerous for us both. Do you recommend any other techniques for stronger dogs? I’m small and petite and find it difficult to turn him around and walk the other way when he’s near a distraction and I live in a busy area so there is nowhere quiet to train. He’s a lovely dog and has been to puppy classes and different trainers.
You have to get in the car and go to a quieter area or get a lead that gives you more control.
Oh dear.. I'm part of the way there, I noticed on a walk yesterday he wouldn't come when called and then I realised he'd spotted two people and was standing his ground until they passed and he was sure it was OK, obviously protecting me and not the other way around!!

Good video, however doesn't really deal with our problem Goldie called Barney. He is very trusting when on a lead or loose. He is a nightmare in the garden, barking at everyone going past. Unfortunately we live on a corner so Barney is barking and running the boundary back and forth until they get past. We have used a trainer when he was younger he is 4 yearrs old. We've tried numerous things, I.e a clicker, clapping loudly to get his attention and a dog whistle. The whistle does grab his attention but doesn't always stop the barking. Our postman refuses to come into the garden as Barney looks and sounds so aggressive. We are at our wits end with him sometimes.
Hi Angela! Exactly same thing with our 16mo Goldie - Glen. Including the garden. We had been training him up until the lockdown in March and actually had trainer coming in 2-3 times a week for that. It helped a lot but surely he does not trust us to protect him yet. For the past 2 months I've been watching Nigel's other video - with Jazz - and it helped a whole lot with the issue. I've been trying to be consistent with the method both on the walk and at home and it helped tremendously. You really must try it. The issue that remains is that Glen is behaving almost aggressively when anyone is trying to get close to us or even looking at him coz he is really stinkin cute. I won't give up however from time to time I think of buying Nigel a ticket to Greece and help us just a little bit more! 🐾
@@sylwiagejzler4260 Hi Sylvie, thanks for your reply. Barney is our 3rd Goldie and is the noisiest and most dominant one out of all three. We've been trying to get a handle on this territorial barking for over 2 years. It dies off a bit then comes back again, noisier than before sometimes!! I've read loads of books, watched endless videos, spoken to trainers, nothing seems to help. This is Barney's garden and nobody can come into it. He was non biting aggressive to us when the was a lot younger when we were in the garden with him. He was ok if we were playing with him but if we attempted to do gardening I.e pruning or digging out weeds. Oh boy did we know about it. We can get away with it at home, but we have a caravan on a site that we go to several times a year. Barney loves it there but other people do complain about his barking. He is ok the first few days, then he starts barking if anyone goes past the van. After a week it is barking for anything or person who moves in our field. After that it is barking for any movement in the other 2 fields we can see. Each I hope and pray that we can lessen if not stop this behaviour before we go back to the caravan in the spring but so far no joy. At least thus year we won't have to worry about that with this awful virus around. I hope you and your family are all well and safe.

I think there needs to be a caveat here regarding Livestock Guardian Breeds like the Pyrenees. These dogs are hardwired to protect and you cannot get that out of them. You can train them to behave while on leash, to some degree. But when danger approaches, they choose how to react, based on the perceived danger. There is only so much you can do with a LGD in terms of convincing them that you've got it. Thankfully, they are not interested in aggression unless it is necessary. But they can be very nervous in some situations and are stubborn to let go of any control when danger is perceived.
Hi there, Some breeds are certainly more susceptible and stubborn with issues. Huskies with pulling. Sighthounds with chasing. Guardian dogs with protecting. However I’ve successfully worked with with these dogs on these issues including Pyrenees dogs. Therefore I wouldn’t be giving caveats as there are too many variables to be definitive with breed stereotypes. Best wishes,
Hi, I love watching your videos. I have an issue, I had a chihuahua who is absolutely wonderful he is 10 years old (he has peeing problem and I'm forever washing my carpet .This issue has been going on for a long time and is not infection i took him to the vet about this just incase) We just took on a cockapoo which is 2 1/2 years old She is absolutely great I've had her 4 weeks and she is showing jealousy of my Chihuahua. I have watched many videos and read up about this. Last night i isolated and put her in the garden. As she will stand there barking at me if i make a fuss of my chi. I done this 3 times last night and she seems to of got it today. and i have had both near me. and stroking one with telling her she is good girl. I have taught her to lay and stay (which is still in process) I found that she learns very quick too. Can you please put me in the right direction for this? I just found out she was like it with her previous two owners. I will not be giving her up at all but i want to be able to have both my dogs happy. She does have several other issues I'm trying to deal with too. She jumps up and tries to get things off the side or rather see what's on there. Steal treats off the chihuahua but she knows when she does if i said what have you got she puts it down. Im dealing with her worst issue first and the others il deal with as they happen any advise would be helpful. Thank you in advance
Hi Tracey, the issue with toileting is achieved through addressing every element of leadership and anxious behaviour. Consequently it would take me a long time to tell you exactly what needs doing. Check out my book The Dog Guardian for a detailed explanation.
I think this makes sense for most breeds, however guardian breeds from proper stock are not genetically predisposed to be timid. In fact it's their job to protect and make judgement decisions.
With those breeds It seems easier to teach them how not to respond to potential threats rather than to act timid or docile.

You can get many breeds that are predisposed to a behaviour which makes training them that bit more challenging. However regardless of the breed they can all learn the response you are asking, be that walking on a loose lead with Huskies, Beagles coming back when called and guardian dogs understanding you will protect them. Personally breeds don't stick out in my memory for being the harder cases rather the personalities of the individual and what they have been through e.g. I am currently teaching a stray dog that I will protect him. It is taking a while as he has been protecting himself for along time - but we are making measured progress every week.
I have 3 German Shepherds. I acquired 2 from great breeders and one I rescued from people moving from our neighborhood. That last one was spayed at 11 months old and she is now 3.. She and my first girl fight a LOT. My first girl was spayed at 5 years. Both girls are aggressive. My boy is intact. He's mostly interested in becoming a dad and does not seem to realize both girls are never going to fulfill his desire. He has been with me since he was 10 weeks old and is only assertive when someone comes into our driveway (usually delivery people). I want so much for my girls to get along. When the rescue girl came she would run and get a toy to try to make friends with my first girl and that would break my heart because the older girl would only show her teeth or growl at the younger girl. My boy would play with the new girl, but I had to make sure the older girl was behind a door where she could not see them and still she barks continually. My boy would get excited at the games they play and begin barking like a lunatic alerting the other girl to what was going on, and as soon as I let her out the older girl would go on a seek and destroy mission hunting for the other girl!. She used to beat the younger girl up if the happen to get together, but the younger girl got tired of that and began fighting back. She is a bit larger than the first girl and I call her 'my pretty tomboy' since she rough houses with the boy playing tug of war, etc, games the older girl never played. I can live with the barking, but can you PLEASE help me to get them to not fight?

Hey Nigel! I have a specific request that I haven't seen other trainers discuss before. Could you cover how to train a dog to pee on a grass mat? I have a 6-month-old puppy, and once I will be returning to work I want to section off the kitchen in my apartment (hardwoods and nothing to chew/destroy) and provide her with a grass mat to use if needed. I don't feel comfortable putting her in her crate for 5+ hours a day, so I thought this would be a good alternative. I haven't seen anyone cover this topic, so any help would be appreciated!
Hi Abby, it doesn't matter if it is a grass matt or a designated spot. The advice is the same. Keep leading them to the spot and praise them when they get it right and put them on it if they look like they are about to go.
My dog trusts me
She sometimes walks without a leash if there isnt dangerous dogs but if there are I take her leash and let her stand behind my leg in the opposite direction
Hi really enjoying the videos. I have a 6 month old german shepherd bitch who actually manages to display many of these good signs and some of the bad. I practice walking away in the other direction a lot and creating a calm environment. Some times she trusts me to be the leader other times her anxiety gets the best of her and I make a decision to move her away from the danger. It short she's very unpredictable. Is there any thing else I should be doing or is it just repetition and reward?

I have three dogs, oldest is Jimmy the beagle who is 5. Gracie is a mixed breed and is the smallest, 40 lbs. and Fraulein who is mostly Black German Shepherd. Gracie and Frauleins are rescue and I have had over 1 yr and are about 1 1/2 yrs. old.
The problem is that Gracie is a runner if she gets out. If the others get out with her they run off with her. Help.
Boundary training with a place command can help. Dogs behaving very badly is available on My5 where that Graeme guy actually goes through some dogs that run off as the door is opened.
You should also teach a reliable recall. Nigel has a really good video on his channel. Though I also recommend Kikopup.

Question, I was laying on the lawn when my psycho peacock came close my boxer dog walked over and sat on me which made the peacock leave. Good result because the peacock is quite territorial with me and other humans. Im guessing my dog has laid claim to me by sitting on me. But isnt that also a domination thing with dogs? Other than separation anxiety my dog has no other issues.
Domination probably isn't right in this case. Just protection. It's hard to know without seeing the whole picture as language mans different things depending on the context.
How can you teach a dog, who generally looks alert at other dogs, to look away or stay back? My dog knows loose lead walking but she can get quite reactive towards other dogs. She seems to stare them a little bit, to which I reward the moment she looks away. Is this the right way to go? Or should I retrace training and turn around and reward her? She did very well today since a dog she hates barked at her and even though she barked twice, she followed my lead and looked up to me afterwards once she had calmed down. Is this a good sign that training is going well?
my dog is the exact same. I've been trying to get him to look at me, but he just seems way too excited.

So happy currently with the dog and her progress. One of the dogs she really badly reacts to went up to her off lead. Luckily I had her muzzle on me so was able to safely reward her for good choices. She did bark a few times but after being told to shut up, she did. I am so proud of her.

He doesn't bark or lunge, or aggress. But, he's more independent than I'd prefer, doesn't check in with me enough, for instance. I'm quite experienced with dogs but have never encountered this issue before. He's quite stable and calm, tail usually up and relaxed. But the few times he's been frightened, not only does he not look to me, I can't get his attention.

Hi Niki, you have to do lots of mini lessons of putting him in and taking him out with treats before he barks. Then build up the time.

Oh, Nigel. My poor dog 😒 when we first got her as a pup, the groomer cut her nails for the first time and when they did that they cut them too short and my poor dog was in a lot of pain! Ever since then (10 years ago) she will not let anyone cut her nails! Sometimes I'm able to cut one nail at a time while she's sleeping but it's very rare. Do you have any magical advice for me?
Approach it in stages. If she resist you went too quick too soon. My 6 month old puppy eats a bit of food then leaves it for a bit, then goes back and eats a bit more. Sometimes this goes on all day. Should I allow this or take the food away once she’s had a chance to eat it?

Break it down into smaller stages. I.e try to get 5 meters outside your house and back in again without a pull. Then do 6 meters. etc

Great to know your dog trust you for any dangers but how do you know if he will protect you for a real danger or get help if your in danger?
They learn to watch what you do with danger. So if I choose, flight, freeze or FIGHT, the dog will too.
I rescue dogs from overseas to USA. Most of them come badly abused. I do have not very long time to keep them. I need to gain their trust, train and adopt them so next group comes in. How you deal with dogs they are extremely scared. I can't even get close to them. I use stinky treats, talking nothing works if longer time I catch them immediately they shut down act like they dont exist. Please help. I watch all your videos. I am NOT trainer just trying to help abused dogs
Can you make a video on how to stop your dog from humping other dogs. He never humps people but when he meets a dog he starts smelling them and try’s to hump them , it’s super embarrassing and I can never find a way to get him to stop, he jumps male dogs and females.

Yes your dog is a small dog good you protect him. Mine is not just a companion but a guard dog so I can't agree with this
I’m not sure what you don’t agree with. You’re saying your dog protects you therefore he doesn’t trust you to protect him. I also demonstrated the change with a bigger dog.
My dog is always walking around and dominating me and she is just- how do I stop her.
Move her when she does. If she carries on her put her in another room. Then repeat, repeat, repeat until she gives up.
