yes, ppl are deaf here? it has an icepick like unpleasant high pitched twang and something like a bass cut... i hope its the production and not the guitar...?
High gain pickups need to be high pitched, piercing and "twangy". Common misconception with "metal" guitar is bass to 10 and treble scooped to about nothing. In all reality you need as much treble as you can sip out of every single area from pickups to bright strings and amp setup.
Alittle added sub note great examples of this is early pioneers of metal such as Tony Iommi. When not using bright chiming p90s he had exceptionally hot wound alnico 2 pickups that where nearly ice picks to the ears but it helped articulate his music and also cut through the mix very well. Modern metal "prog" "djent" and the multiple others with low tunings need that near lifeless and bright pickup to keep everything tight and articulated. And for all fairness a $400 guitar isn't going to sound like a $4200 custom shop.
@@TheGreasemonkey220 It's not the guitar or its pickups that are causing that terrible tone in this video. It's the amp. You can hear the cab speaker rattling. All those amps in that shop and they decided to use whatever amp they used.

I have 2 questions: 1 is the tremelo good for metal or rock and 2 will the difference of tone and feel be noticable from a squier affinity stratocaster? Great review, thanks!
There is no trem, its a hard tail guitar. That means it will be easier to tune (especially with alternate tunings). The tone and feel will definitely be different to a squire strat, it will handle heavier tones much better, and the neck will be faster feelings and quite thin.
Huge tonal difference between this guitar and a strat, strats have single coils where as the Ibanez has humbuckers. Think Hendricks or Stevie Ray Vaughn for a strat. Think Steve Vai for Ibanez or Eddie Van Halen, Slash, or James Hetfeild/Kirk Hammett for humbuckers. You will often use humbuckers for metal, heavy rock, or rock, whereas you'll probably use strats for rock, blues, or clean tones. Hope this helped!
