Yorick is one of those champions that you don’t really think about. You don’t ban him, you beat him in lane, and grovel just a little when he takes some of your tower plates, as he took teleport and you didn’t. Then you go help your team with dragon, and suddenly, a thousand pings of “Top canyon” as he ends the game.

Very good video, one thing to add on is that Chempunk and Serpent's Fang works on ghouls damage and also mid Guardian Angel animation, ghouls and maiden is still active

Yo! Third best Yorick on OCE here, 5 million mastery, D2, mates with Slogs and Ninetales. Haven't touched ranked properly in a couple years tho.
Yorick's Maiden and Ghouls DO NOT reduce tower resistances. You summon them to take towers just to literally overpower the damage reduction, while you tank the hits.

@@affy4362 yeah grudge gives an incredible boost to taking towers. One of my favorite items on the old gravedigger
@@HappyChimeNoises I don't think you understand correctly. Stats like lethality, and armor pen, work on ghouls (because your ghouls deal physical damage, hence they benefit from your lethality and armor pen).
In the same fashion, lethality and armor pen work on turrets too. (because turrets have armor and MR)**
However the point that OP is bringing up is that turrets have a passive which make them take 66.6% less damage if there are no MINIONS around. That mean that if there is no LANE MINION in proximity of the turret, you will only deal 33% of your usual damage.
**This is why taking subsequent platings is harder (turrets gain armor/mr on every plating destroyed, and thats why its optimal to use herald on the last 2.1 platings, since herald charge deals true damage).
Ironically I feel like this build would’ve been so much more effective if he still had Omen of Death because then it would just be inting Sion 2.0 but stronger

Yea when i go lethality i take comet otherwise conq for me now on standard builds.
I’ve been taking first strike with futures market or occasionally minion demat, as long as you reliably hit your E you’ll have your first item so ridiculously fast that your other runes don’t matter anymore. Would recommend although conqueror might be better for longer fights.

I wonder, but I think the AD the pets get from Conqueror outdamages sustained Comet strikes.
It is a cool interaction and I want it to be good, but I think that in reality Conqueror probably does the same job but you don’t notice it as much.
AP Yorick time
Happychime didn't mention that even though a level 1 yuumi can one shot a level 18 yorick ghoul with only one auto attack, for some reason the ghouls have massive damage reduction against abilities. So they can survive all 3 casts of riven's Q and I think lux's E+R combo, but not a single auto attack from any champion. I think abilities like ez Q and yasuo's Q count as auto attacks and also quickly kill them.
Nah they take 50% reduced damage from AOE attacks/abilities. Single target spells still one shot them.
This is btw what lol-wiki says about its: "Mist Walkers take 50% damage from area of effect abilities and monsters. Single targeted spells and attacks including a turret shot, will instantly kill Mist Walkers." but somehow sylas enhanced auto attack does not oneshot them (which is hell), so it seems to be much more about the "single-targetness" than an attack. Another fuckedup interaction: Zac can not reactivate his q on yoriks wall and instead just autoattacks it >:O

Its not "for some reason" its specifically because they die in 1 hit to an AA and single target stuff. So you have to focus them rather than just random AOE.

It's literally the same story with Bauss when he became a Sion OTP, a champion with crazy scaling that has no dashes now has a dash and is way faster with towers when going ad items and also was a rather unknown champion whose popularity has increased when this one guy just plays and builds him differently.
I wonder if some mad lad will do the same on Illaoi now.

@@Sen5iz. Have you ever tried Illaoi jungle with crit-movement speed items? it´s so fun, so fast, and with the ability to 1v5 if done right. Your tentacles keep attacking the vessel even if you died 4 seconds ago, that´s huge, and with ad items they just rekt anything that comes close. Also, your W gain range, with rapid fire cannon you reach almost 500 range and can 1-2 shot squishies with a huge amount of speed (like 600 and more with items active). It´s really fun, and tentacles helps with jungle clear, which isn´t bad at all.
Not even all 4 ghouls, just 3 lol.
the problem with illaoi is that she misses lots of damage if you try to be proactive with her due to needing to set up tentacles and you don't have many tools to deal with ranged champs, although after riot buffed her W and attack speed she can trade really well with just aa-w spam it's kinda crazy, there may be room for experimentation like the comment above but it doesn't seem as good as Sion/Yorick
Someone did this on the enemy team and sent the link to this vid. My team was extremely fed, up so much gold, and the enemy team was not looking too good, but that Yorick man. Had a normal KDA but won the game just off split pushing. I was so confused how our team fell through

One thing that you should've mentioned is that it's best to get close to the enemy champion when throwing your E. I've found that I miss a lot of times when I throw it at max distance.
I've been playing Yorick off and on for years, and it's awesome that this guy figured out a way to get past his weakness let alone make him incredibly strong. I need to try this next time I play
In the current patch if you’re in a minion wave using your q while having ravenous hydra will make you have a constant source of low health minions that your maidens can easily kill making your E’s way more deadly and powerful while making your q’s very deadly in team fights since ravenous hydra also gives cleave on ability’s your E’s initial damage will also be much bigger making you basically a minion ballista with a large hammer

Tried it just now ( 6 hours after the upload ) and went 15/2 with top inhib down at 17 minutes.
Might be my new favorite way to play Yorick.
As a Yorick main myself since season 7, this video puts a smile on my face big time, I love builds on Yorick, he's such a great and interesting champion
People belive unpopular mean not intersting. Most of them don't give champion a proper try & experimentation in builds.

Off- meta can do it, a gameplay on popular champ can do it (a more roam oriented play style on low level even on a syndra or an anivia,Udyr voli stance crit ...)
To me LoL is a little lab and that's what i love about it when i'm bored it always have a champ i did'nt play in ages, a stuff i want to try, a rune set up, a new trap...

I actually play lethality yorick a lot, its one of my favorite builts. Instead of prowlers I go elipse because of the shield which the minions activate. Additionally lethality yorick can solo baron, leaving your team to contest drag or slow their mid push. For my build I typically go eclipse, lucidity boots, collector, ravenous for life steal, ghost blade for chase, and either grudge for slow or edge of night for spell shield. As for my runes I like to go Conquerer, Triumph, bloodline, cut the grass, demolish, bone plating, then ability haste, adaptive, and amour
This amps up the healing from maiden and your sustain a lot allowing you to solo basically anybody. One Q can essentially heal half your health and maiden applying life steal never lets you die in lane. You are kinda squishy as you have no tank items however, no tank or squishy can really fight you solo allowing for massive map pressure just by existing

i've been watching slogdogs channel for year now, this guy is just amazing
One major disruption the W Wall causes that wasn't mentioned is cancelling malzahar ults, you have to time it perfectly so the wall comes up and the edges of the wall push him as he starts ulting, very niche and very hard to pull off but amazing when done
I'm happy I found this video when it was posted. I had been playing Yorick as my new one trick for a while before that but was feeling very... idk I guess just like a roided up super minion. I couldnt do much unless I was left alone in which case I could to a lot to towers but that's not always fun.
Lethality Yorick though, that has made a huge difference. It feels great.

Out of all these videos I learned this, find a pick you love, experiment with some builds till you find something that works for you and you feel comfortable using it around many matchups and then take over the world

I've been doing this build but with a full on Yorick Jungle playstyle instead
It works quite nicely and you have some insane push potential due to Demolish + Hullbreaker if you get that far.
1:55 : Ah, the old crew of weird champs. I miss them too! Beta player here and they were so much fun and so different. Then Riot came and had to put them into nice little boxes for set roles. Oh well.
Urgot was especially unique with the long range poke tank combo with a swap place ult. Wish they still had something like that.
And the others were great siegers and zoners. Something that's really lacking now outside of like Malz and Heimer. Maybe someday Riot will release some new kits in that style...

Been playing yorick this way in my ranked games and oh boy, I will just laugh my ass off as I pick up a kill randomly here and there with my ghouls as long as I hit my E, I can just continue pushing and let my ghouls do the job
I never comment on the ads on this channel, but oh my is guild wars 2 great. The player base is so kind and the gameplay is super customizable and fun!
As a new player there are loads of veterans willing to help you get started as the player base is super cool and vets get rewards for helping new players.

So that´s exactly the same strategy as I use Shyvana. I main Yorick-Shyvana now and I only care for towers, getting items and try to use TP on a deep ward to 2-shot towers-inibhs. Really strong.

its still funny when you build the items that gives your ghouls perma slow and people try to run away instead of killing them, or when you trap them in a cage, and they need to either break it kill the ghouls kill maiden or you, and none of the choices are good.
This seems fun, I want to add another toplaner to my champ pool, I'm gonna try this but first, I will learn normal Yorick and when I'm good enough I will try this build.

I like how at 9:25 you just explained what the basics of split pushing are
This is not just split pushing that is for sure, split pushing is going to a side lane to get an advantage for your team - either through taking stuff while enemies fail to respond, or by drawing someone over and then collapsing to the teamfight.
Yorick is ONLY splitting reguardless of outcome, reguardless of team comp, reguardless of game situation. If enemies have 3 dragons, about to claim soul and 5 people ready stacked on it - You can bet yorick will be on their nexus ready to end. It is an extreme version and that is why it is emphasised.

The best part of this video is that, I feel like this isn't trolling at all. Like the way you explained every aspect of the build makes it seem like this is the ACTUAL proper way to build yorick. The only downside to this build is that he isn't a 'tank' or 'brusier' anymore. He duels better, he splits harder, he assassinates like what yorick actually team fights

I discovered in One For All playing as Yorick AD (for diversity) that it was so good with Serylda and Lethality
actually ghouls spawns not when maiden near. they spawn when E marked enemy near, or yorick (or maiden itself) kill minion, what maiden also hit, so if yorick kill minion 1 when maiden hit minion 2 ghoul doesent spawn
as someone how like to play yorick on and off, i loved the video.
I also understand this guy, back in the early seasons of league I would deliberately play the champions people hated to see on their team. Original Eve JG, Original Heimer Mid, champs like these that were absurdly bad I loved to death. I wish eve was never changed because I learned how to make her actually playable.
I vividly remember getting flamed hard for buying Prowlers claw for, Yorick once. I was against a Pantheon Top and was just following the recommended item purchase Riot suggested.
Yorick does not summon 4 ghouls with R, he spawns 2/3/4 per level on the abolity

when rito did the changes and that dumb build surfaced i had to start just banning yorick because it felt so unfair to deal with the way he just didn't interact and fished with e and let ghouls do the work even in lane. rito nerfed it so i stopped banning it but then hullbreaker came out and i just said no shot i'm letting yorick in a game with this item, though now i have some other bans. anyway i still do a lethality build in aram because it's funny later what the ghouls do, the fact they can proc eclipse and stuff. i'm not surprised that someone has mastered the build and learned the little mechanics to optimize it, some good tips for sure.
One thing i'd say to the video is that you don't actually re-activate Q to summon ghouls unless you want them to push or you are fighting without hitting E, you just fish for E and it auto summons the ghouls when it hits/marks a target.
i prefer comet yorick. you start e and use scorch and comet and manaflow to poke and gain mana. once you hit 2, the other guy should be at 2/3 starting health so they're cocky and don't realize e can summon ghouls. i've been experimenting with phase rush yorick as well but that extra poke damage really does make it easier and safer to farm.
