I literally tried moments ago, and it really does wonders. I won a ranked game, I was behind, but won with 20/8/13 KDA. This build really does wonders.
Before the item rework i used to utilize the muramana passive to level up my Q a level earlier than it should, by using biscuits and manaflow band. manaflow + biscuits + the doran's blade were AWESOME to reach 100 AD early and having a super strong Q. My league life it's literally devoted to finding bizarre interactions between items, champs and runes, its so much fun.

As an adc Kai sa main, i feel you forgot to mention to buy a 435g book before completing ludens to evolve w, as its more important than finishing ludens. Also its most likely you need the extra mana from lost chapter (or maybe just the mana cristal that builds into lost chapter) to finish evolving q.
Correct. It is not something zhong mentioned to me while making the video so that is why it was missed. Will pay attention more in future to item components even if player doesn't emphasize them :)

Nice video, just wish you also talked about how AP Kai'Sa usually goes for Lost Chapter + Blasting Wand + Amplifying Tome for the cheaper W evolve. Also, since you need an extra Sapphire Crystal to get Q evolve anyway, the mana from biscuits doesn't really matter because you'll be level 9 with close to enough manamune stacks by the time you get enough gold. Biscuits only make a difference if you want to get level 8 Q evo, or if you really need early sustain. Futures Market is usually better to hit certain item powerspikes smoothly.

@@claireredfield2481 pretty sure ap kaisa can work in midlane surprisingly fine. and heck it can work in botlane too. just use lethal tempo or some strong keystone to ensure you're early game does well enough to not auto lose to more oppressive foes.
Great tip for offmeta players btw, just mute teammates in champion select (and ingame) . No more flaming offmeta picks and becoming the scapegoat for teammates bad mental! It will also guarantee honor 5 and probably increase your winrate
been playing kai top, w this exact same build. only thing is that u get mad camped in lane but the 3 waves push back strat works, also just staying for the wave and then going in fog right away helped me .found out what i was doing wrong so thank u.

manamune -> half finish luden + book, was a pretty normal start for mid/top kaisa, interesting from first strike since that's more based on poke/artillery, but if you're fighting bruisers it could be an interesting pivot to go for nashor. Completing passive marks is very important though. Could always go hail of blades or something to help lane, but this one's a bit of an old kr build.

a couple of days ago i picked up support ap kaisa with hail of blades and it's such a good pick with ur early trades at lvl 2 that can take 50% of an enemy hp + ignite and u farm the support item gold with w and hail of blades then going to mid game and just spamming w on the enemy and u can two shot any squishy
Ok so for every new AP Kai'sa enjoyer that will spawn after this vid : Biscuit is not vital at all, it's actually suboptimal when Free Market give you 1 additional Mana Crystal on your back timing which translate to 6AD instead of Biscuit 3AD, also give you faster spike thought-out the game like the W and Mythic completion ones. Also if you compare when Biscuits + Mana Flow give Q evo while Free Market ( with Crystal) + no Mana Flow you will see that it require specific stacking +lvl for 'his runes' to give Q evo while 'normal runes' don't, those are rare situation that happen lvl9 with high Manamune stack ( over 270) so it legit doesn't make a diff in 99% of the games played. Same thing -> Transcendence and Ionian boots are suboptimal, barely 0.35s CD diff when hitting W (which make no diff for Passive proc) and 2s diff when missing. Sorc and Gathering are way too insane on AP Kai'sa to trade it for things that only 'help you ' when you miss your most important and almost only ability you use in fights. Max W 2nd not E, E max when going this build give low value -> MS is very little, AS doesn't matter since you don't AA, W dmg you get from maxing it is just better( go from 30 to 130 base) especially since you spam this ability.
There is as well hybrid kai'sa build which bases dmg on her W with navori. Nashor > kraken > navori > ldr ( if you want to be autoattacker) / Rabadon (for passive) > Rabadon / shadowflame, boots either berserk or soccer or ionians, for reasons mentioned in the video. You can later tweak items to fit game requirements in late, when gold flows hard. You can play it with either FS or lethal OR HoB (for assassin build, don't build as, prefer flat ap for passive prock and W dmg)

I play a lot of ap/hybrid kai'sa mid. DH/Sudden Impact/ Eyeball collection/ treasure hunter, legend alacrity, coup de grace. Cull start, Manamune rush, straight into nashors then ludens. Then it's usually D-cap or collector depending on if we need more ad. Farming is absurdly easy on this champ. I'm low gold elo and I consistently have 100 cs by 10:30-11 minutes. If you're ever about to miss a creep because you timed auto wrong, hit q. If you're about to miss a minion bc it's too far away look for w. You have to have decent movement so you don't get poked out by enemy skillshots, otherwise this won't work, since you'll be against mages and assassins. Look for winning skirmishes in river and solo kills if your laner makes a mistake to stack alacrity and DH. Other than that, play safe AF and don't miss free cs. Once you have manamune/nashors/zerkers greaves, you become a huge threat and you have a lot of options for how you play teamfights. You can just poke with W from range, try to maximize dps like a marksperson autoing front to back and using q on cd, or you can all-in enemy backline when they get low/outnumbered. You get all evolutions with this build- alacrity gives you quicker e upgrade which helps a lot trying to survive/not giving away shutdowns. I have about 60% wr rn after maybe 80 games on her (this season).
Ap Kaisa & Ap Varus top running the exact same build. (Though HOB + Manaflow band & Transcendence i love on Varus) is hilarious. Either be a long range poke god with powerful resets. Or be the ultimate tank destroyer who can provide good cc in teamfights from a full screen away that has really powerful resets.
I've been playing a style vers similar to this and if you can hit your powerspike (cuz there are games where your team loses at like 15 minutes even if you r playing safe :/) it's very very strong. It kind of breaks the game, so i wouldn't be surprised if rito somehow nerfed the ap build even more. Though i'd be disappointed bcs it's my favourite build ever
Ive been trying to pull off AP kaisa mid with those same items but with different runes. I only get good results when smurfing but not in actual serious games bc it takes too long to scale. Maybe First Strike is key to pulling it off or maybe top is better than mid for this playstyle. Any thoughts? @happychimenoises
Yes top is easier - as its much safer + better matchups and easier to reach 2 items since you can just afk farm. If playing mid you kinda need a champ that can match roams/leave lane - but that just delays your powerspikes. (Thats why it was good in pro play - since faker could just afk farm mid and get a ton of dmg)
I played this in ranked and my teammates flamed me so hard both games (I played 2) but this strat actually worked really well both of the games I played with it.
Dang, this is the ARAM build, but with first strike and biscuits, since it scales more reliably than the domination tree. Makes me wonder what other ARAM builds we can port over with some tuning.
it's a ticker, longer and faster nidalee spear innit. nidalee: 1500 range, 80 width, 1300 projectile speed kaisa: 3000 range, 200 width, 1750 projectile speed the cooldown is lower than nidalee spear as well when it hits a champion. i used to love the concept of playing spear-only nidalee for fun, but the reality of spear-only nidalee is just too difficult, but this kaisa setup looks promising in that regard. now that i think about it. even the way kaisa r's in after hitting the ability is like nidalee jumping in with cougar form after hitting a spear, but kaisa jumps in from a mile away. veryvery juicy video.
I believe that horizon focus is unfortunately worse than shadowflame on almost every champion. I can't remember if the damage is bugged still but I have been told by a few players to avoid that item at all costs
This is just standard AP Poke Kaisa lol. Been viable for quite a few seasons and only buffed recently. First Strike however is super unique as most go HoB in order to be able to snipe a kill if necessary. Generally tho the build would be Manamune > Ludens > Horizon > Void > Rabadon for maximum damage and burst. This removes a lot of the need of Lucidity boots and allows you to go for full Pen and make squishies lives miserable while also scaling well into tanks. Generally wanting 60 - 80 Haste in order to double W. The build that's generally done right now is HoB with Ingenius (faster Manamune, more Luden procs) with Manaflow / Transcendence. The laning tips are neat as well as they're super interesting economy wise. 3 Q into 5 W into max Q is also standard on this variation of Kaisa. Build is super fun tho difficult at times. Highly recommend even botlane. You become a monster into the late game and if you're good at wave manip and economy they can't really stop you.

This isn't a special strat, this is the normal AP Kaisa build that was so strong ~a year ago. And you can argue about it being smarter to play without Q-evolve, since you just spike one item earlier then. But mainly this pick is just a million time better in mid, because on top a Kaisa can get punished hard, while on mid it's far easier to just farm to scale. I'm playing a lot of AP Kaisa mid lately, with first strike and full scaling runes, and I just buy ludens, Shadowflame, rabadons, void staff and that's working really well, just the stronger build than this one which also was meta not too long ago.
This actually inspires me. Im finnicing around with Teemo Support, and whilst my buddies say im trolling, im actually having a crap ton of fun with it, and it really allows you to lock down botlane. Still expirimenting with it tho, mainly doing Liandries/Demonic builds.

This player has adapted really well to current league with this build and playstyle, but this sounds extremely boring to play with and against, and sounds like it could get boring to play too after a while.
I think you should add ways how to counter these kinds of off meta picks too. This pick reminds me of Anathema’s Chains existence and would be an important rush if you’re playing a tank into Kaisa top. It would be able to mitigate damage while also making cc against her better too.
I try to add them as parts of the weaknesses, e.g with this one - dodging W is the biggest counter. If kaisa doesnt hit W - she is 50% less useful. Also ranged tops - easy to dive with a champ like elise, so thats a good option.
they said I was mad when I did this in Iron I and played Kai'Sa Support, after that they wanted to know my real rank - but it's actually Iron I and this Champ's AP Ratios are just as fair as K'Santes 3 Million Dashes lmao
i have over 1m and 300k points on kaisa and when i go for AP i go manaflow band and gathering storm for really strong late game, the reason why i go manaflow is you gain 250 free mana which gives you more AD with manamune, but tbh when i play kaisa top i play with grasp and heartsteel just for fun.
Anime arc moment wanted to share. I didn’t play ranked for a while and ended up iron, then played it and got to br4, the hardest rank in the game to climb from where almost jo amount of carrying was enough. 50+ vision with 32/2/15 and 300 cs isn’t enough to carry kinda rank. This is due to bad teammates, and worst of all, the fact that 9/10 games have actual robots, most commonly annie, taric, and yuumi bots. I lost for about 60 games straight then the last 10 games I learned how to play adc and survive every fight, and how to get 250+ cs every 30min+ game on kaisa, a strong champ. On my journey I always always played an ad ap hybrid of kraken, berserkers, wits end, nashors, zhonyas or guisoos, and rabis Anyway, I found out that kaisa can carry 2 bad players but not 3. Now that tanks have become broken and riot decided everything is broken and Zyra exists, I may just become the scum of the earth and go top. ADC is my main role, but I also have at least 7+ champs m5 top
Best you can do is create a smurf, and play with that smurf for a while that way your elo would not force you to play with heavy teammates and robots, and you'll get to utilize your skills and improve better. ADCs alone cant carry games now, very ahead toplane bruisers can(because they have the pushing power, objective control and can't just die from one positioning mistake) After some time you realize that you've reached your peak, then go back to your main account and climb using that.
As much as I don't want to sound like that guy, AP Kai sa was practically the same as AP Zeri in the sense that you're useful for only one skill and you have to hit it, even if it does a lot of damage. Moreover, drututt mainly played onhit Kaisa, not meta kai'sa build, which he explains why it has better DPS potential than usual crit kai'sa, taking exhaust since without it he'd lose early trades to almost every bruiser under the sun.
So basicly he just plays standard AP Kaisa build 😆 It is nothing new, it is the most efficient ! GG to this player for hitting challenger I did not know it was possible on AP Kaisa since the big nerf, I will definitively play her again !
When was the nerf people are mentioning? I can only see buffs leagueoflegends.fandom.com/wiki/Kai%27Sa/LoL/Patch_history Other than the 1 W nerf - which was compensated by lots of Q + R buffs and scaling increases in later patches. Seems like Riot want AP kaisa to exist
@@HappyChimeNoises the w nerf was bigger than the compensation buffs, especially for builds like this with no nashors tooth (passive damage went up but you only proc passive if you hit 2 w in a row) at which point you will still do less damage than before. If the style of kai'sa top is good now it was probably OP before that patch.
as a silver player this pick is really good. While the early game is quite hard (im getting weird matchups like senna top that i cant poke early) and even inting some games when i evolve w i automatically get kill after kill for free
druttut is one of the best kaisa top players in chall and he still likes it it just ist as good as it used to be and for some one who plays at the top 100 all the time a pick needs to be good in his eyes for him to work

manamune -> half finish luden + book, was a pretty normal start for mid/top kaisa, interesting from first strike since that's more based on poke/artillery, but if you're fighting bruisers it could be an interesting pivot to go for nashor. Completing passive marks is very important though. Could always go hail of blades or something to help lane, but this one's a bit of an old kr build.

a couple of days ago i picked up support ap kaisa with hail of blades and it's such a good pick with ur early trades at lvl 2 that can take 50% of an enemy hp + ignite and u farm the support item gold with w and hail of blades then going to mid game and just spamming w on the enemy and u can two shot any squishy

Ok so for every new AP Kai'sa enjoyer that will spawn after this vid :
Biscuit is not vital at all, it's actually suboptimal when Free Market give you 1 additional Mana Crystal on your back timing which translate to 6AD instead of Biscuit 3AD, also give you faster spike thought-out the game like the W and Mythic completion ones.
Also if you compare when Biscuits + Mana Flow give Q evo while Free Market ( with Crystal) + no Mana Flow you will see that it require specific stacking +lvl for 'his runes' to give Q evo while 'normal runes' don't, those are rare situation that happen lvl9 with high Manamune stack ( over 270) so it legit doesn't make a diff in 99% of the games played.
Same thing -> Transcendence and Ionian boots are suboptimal, barely 0.35s CD diff when hitting W (which make no diff for Passive proc) and 2s diff when missing.
Sorc and Gathering are way too insane on AP Kai'sa to trade it for things that only 'help you ' when you miss your most important and almost only ability you use in fights.
Max W 2nd not E, E max when going this build give low value -> MS is very little, AS doesn't matter since you don't AA, W dmg you get from maxing it is just better( go from 30 to 130 base) especially since you spam this ability.
There is as well hybrid kai'sa build which bases dmg on her W with navori.
Nashor > kraken > navori > ldr ( if you want to be autoattacker) / Rabadon (for passive) > Rabadon / shadowflame, boots either berserk or soccer or ionians, for reasons mentioned in the video. You can later tweak items to fit game requirements in late, when gold flows hard.
You can play it with either FS or lethal OR HoB (for assassin build, don't build as, prefer flat ap for passive prock and W dmg)

I play a lot of ap/hybrid kai'sa mid. DH/Sudden Impact/ Eyeball collection/ treasure hunter, legend alacrity, coup de grace. Cull start, Manamune rush, straight into nashors then ludens. Then it's usually D-cap or collector depending on if we need more ad.
Farming is absurdly easy on this champ. I'm low gold elo and I consistently have 100 cs by 10:30-11 minutes. If you're ever about to miss a creep because you timed auto wrong, hit q. If you're about to miss a minion bc it's too far away look for w. You have to have decent movement so you don't get poked out by enemy skillshots, otherwise this won't work, since you'll be against mages and assassins.
Look for winning skirmishes in river and solo kills if your laner makes a mistake to stack alacrity and DH. Other than that, play safe AF and don't miss free cs. Once you have manamune/nashors/zerkers greaves, you become a huge threat and you have a lot of options for how you play teamfights. You can just poke with W from range, try to maximize dps like a marksperson autoing front to back and using q on cd, or you can all-in enemy backline when they get low/outnumbered. You get all evolutions with this build- alacrity gives you quicker e upgrade which helps a lot trying to survive/not giving away shutdowns.
I have about 60% wr rn after maybe 80 games on her (this season).
I like to do nashor too, I don't think she needs to stop giving auto atks because she is ap

Ap Kaisa & Ap Varus top running the exact same build. (Though HOB + Manaflow band & Transcendence i love on Varus) is hilarious.
Either be a long range poke god with powerful resets. Or be the ultimate tank destroyer who can provide good cc in teamfights from a full screen away that has really powerful resets.
I've been playing a style vers similar to this and if you can hit your powerspike (cuz there are games where your team loses at like 15 minutes even if you r playing safe :/) it's very very strong. It kind of breaks the game, so i wouldn't be surprised if rito somehow nerfed the ap build even more. Though i'd be disappointed bcs it's my favourite build ever
I've been doing combo AP and AD builds on kai'sa for a little bit, but it's usually form going titanic and demonic while building bruiser

Ive been trying to pull off AP kaisa mid with those same items but with different runes. I only get good results when smurfing but not in actual serious games bc it takes too long to scale. Maybe First Strike is key to pulling it off or maybe top is better than mid for this playstyle. Any thoughts? @happychimenoises
Yes top is easier - as its much safer + better matchups and easier to reach 2 items since you can just afk farm.
If playing mid you kinda need a champ that can match roams/leave lane - but that just delays your powerspikes. (Thats why it was good in pro play - since faker could just afk farm mid and get a ton of dmg)

Dang, this is the ARAM build, but with first strike and biscuits, since it scales more reliably than the domination tree.
Makes me wonder what other ARAM builds we can port over with some tuning.

As a Kai'sa main I have to say.. this is disgusting. And I love it.
it's a ticker, longer and faster nidalee spear innit.
nidalee: 1500 range, 80 width, 1300 projectile speed
kaisa: 3000 range, 200 width, 1750 projectile speed
the cooldown is lower than nidalee spear as well when it hits a champion.
i used to love the concept of playing spear-only nidalee for fun, but the reality of spear-only nidalee is just too difficult, but this kaisa setup looks promising in that regard.
now that i think about it. even the way kaisa r's in after hitting the ability is like nidalee jumping in with cougar form after hitting a spear, but kaisa jumps in from a mile away.

I believe that horizon focus is unfortunately worse than shadowflame on almost every champion. I can't remember if the damage is bugged still but I have been told by a few players to avoid that item at all costs
You do like 200less dmg if you go horizon. And you get vision anyways if you land your W :)

well here we go now everyone is going kai sa top now.
This is just standard AP Poke Kaisa lol. Been viable for quite a few seasons and only buffed recently. First Strike however is super unique as most go HoB in order to be able to snipe a kill if necessary. Generally tho the build would be Manamune > Ludens > Horizon > Void > Rabadon for maximum damage and burst. This removes a lot of the need of Lucidity boots and allows you to go for full Pen and make squishies lives miserable while also scaling well into tanks. Generally wanting 60 - 80 Haste in order to double W. The build that's generally done right now is HoB with Ingenius (faster Manamune, more Luden procs) with Manaflow / Transcendence. The laning tips are neat as well as they're super interesting economy wise. 3 Q into 5 W into max Q is also standard on this variation of Kaisa. Build is super fun tho difficult at times. Highly recommend even botlane. You become a monster into the late game and if you're good at wave manip and economy they can't really stop you.

This isn't a special strat, this is the normal AP Kaisa build that was so strong ~a year ago. And you can argue about it being smarter to play without Q-evolve, since you just spike one item earlier then.
But mainly this pick is just a million time better in mid, because on top a Kaisa can get punished hard, while on mid it's far easier to just farm to scale.
I'm playing a lot of AP Kaisa mid lately, with first strike and full scaling runes, and I just buy ludens, Shadowflame, rabadons, void staff and that's working really well, just the stronger build than this one which also was meta not too long ago.
This actually inspires me. Im finnicing around with Teemo Support, and whilst my buddies say im trolling, im actually having a crap ton of fun with it, and it really allows you to lock down botlane. Still expirimenting with it tho, mainly doing Liandries/Demonic builds.
Teemo support is absolutely not troll , but you have to pick it into a bot lane with no sustain (no soraka , nami , sona etc)

This player has adapted really well to current league with this build and playstyle, but this sounds extremely boring to play with and against, and sounds like it could get boring to play too after a while.
I think you should add ways how to counter these kinds of off meta picks too. This pick reminds me of Anathema’s Chains existence and would be an important rush if you’re playing a tank into Kaisa top. It would be able to mitigate damage while also making cc against her better too.
I try to add them as parts of the weaknesses, e.g with this one - dodging W is the biggest counter.
If kaisa doesnt hit W - she is 50% less useful.
Also ranged tops - easy to dive with a champ like elise, so thats a good option.

i have over 1m and 300k points on kaisa and when i go for AP i go manaflow band and gathering storm for really strong late game, the reason why i go manaflow is you gain 250 free mana which gives you more AD with manamune, but tbh when i play kaisa top i play with grasp and heartsteel just for fun.

I didn’t play ranked for a while and ended up iron, then played it and got to br4, the hardest rank in the game to climb from where almost jo amount of carrying was enough. 50+ vision with 32/2/15 and 300 cs isn’t enough to carry kinda rank.
This is due to bad teammates, and worst of all, the fact that 9/10 games have actual robots, most commonly annie, taric, and yuumi bots. I lost for about 60 games straight then the last 10 games I learned how to play adc and survive every fight, and how to get 250+ cs every 30min+ game on kaisa, a strong champ.
On my journey I always always played an ad ap hybrid of kraken, berserkers, wits end, nashors, zhonyas or guisoos, and rabis
Anyway, I found out that kaisa can carry 2 bad players but not 3. Now that tanks have become broken and riot decided everything is broken and Zyra exists, I may just become the scum of the earth and go top.
ADC is my main role, but I also have at least 7+ champs m5 top
Best you can do is create a smurf, and play with that smurf for a while
that way your elo would not force you to play with heavy teammates and robots, and you'll get to utilize your skills and improve better. ADCs alone cant carry games now, very ahead toplane bruisers can(because they have the pushing power, objective control and can't just die from one positioning mistake)
After some time you realize that you've reached your peak, then go back to your main account and climb using that.

As much as I don't want to sound like that guy, AP Kai sa was practically the same as AP Zeri in the sense that you're useful for only one skill and you have to hit it, even if it does a lot of damage. Moreover, drututt mainly played onhit Kaisa, not meta kai'sa build, which he explains why it has better DPS potential than usual crit kai'sa, taking exhaust since without it he'd lose early trades to almost every bruiser under the sun.
I got os the same way by a kai'sa mid in low master euw, the build is just a menace you can play it anywhere

Other than the 1 W nerf - which was compensated by lots of Q + R buffs and scaling increases in later patches. Seems like Riot want AP kaisa to exist
@@HappyChimeNoises the w nerf was bigger than the compensation buffs, especially for builds like this with no nashors tooth (passive damage went up but you only proc passive if you hit 2 w in a row) at which point you will still do less damage than before.
If the style of kai'sa top is good now it was probably OP before that patch.
