They knocked it out of the park with their TX line of 22's. Probably inspired them to build back better in the 9mm department.
Great review, thanks for sharing. Cannot beat the Taurus prices.
Agreed, all. Manufacturers do put out some that have issues.. Lifetime warranty with Taurus is a plus
Budget friendly and reliable. Think it's going to be a good choice for many people.
Agreed.
My father in law bought a Taurus a while back, had a rare malfunction in it, Taurus took it back and replaced it because the issue was not reparable. They gave him a brand new GX4 carry. Because of that outstanding customer service my next buy will be Taurus and possibly the gx2
Thanks for that comment. You always hear about the bad situations but it’s not often you hear about good customer service.
Tauras seems to be getting better quality lately I hope they keep it up, GX4 would be a great comparison. Thanks for the videos
I’ll put the GX4 on the list if the Canik Prime doesn’t arrive quickly we will more than likely grab the GX4 Carry.
Definitely get the Carry
I think I own 8 or 9 Taurus firearms and the only one I've had trouble with was my model 605 revolver that Taurus missed the barrel forcing cone, sent it back and got a brand new gun in 4 weeks free of any charge to me.
Nice video.. Do the gx4...!
Monday I went with my cousin to look at pistol's as he's looking at buying his first. Saw a GX4 at Bass pro. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice looking it was in the case. I didn't ask to hold it because it was busy and it was mainly a trip for him, kinda wish I would've though. The GX4 Carry would be a gun I'd 100% consider for the price. The grip looked good and so did the texture. Right now my favorite "carry" size gun i've held is the hellcat pro.
GX4 CARRY IS THE 🐐
The gx4 carry is the same light recoil .. Those full rails and recoil spring make some type of space magic
They figured something out that works really well.
I think I mentioned you should try the GX4 Carry. It will have the same trigger with replaceable back straps. Maybe a little thinner with 15 round mags. You can also use the mags in the GX2.
I remember that - I added it to a list of recommended pistols a while back but wanted to get the newer pistol first.
Great video!
Thanks for watching.
Love your reviews. This gun is selling for $240 and I think it's a great choice for a firearm. On your way home stop and get you some Testors model paint in floresent orange or green and you'll be good to go.
That’s a good idea.
Thanks for the video. Keep up the good work!
@@AllenNone thanks, sir.
Nice video Nick keep up the great job. 👍🔥
@@joesciandro8478 thanks, Joe.
I think the G2C line is where it started. I believe that was their problem child. From what I have been told, from the G3C line and forward they have greatly improved.
Never had an issue with their revolvers or 1911’s. Will checking this one out in the near future.
Thanks for the information.
The bad rep came in a couple of iterations, as Taurus has been around a long time. Longer than Glock. They started out in U.S sales with revolver clones that were very hit or miss, with a lot of QA issues. Then they obtained a license from Beretta to manufacture copies of the 92 series. Those were also hit or miss at first. By the 90s, most of their revolvers were pretty good, and they had a few different versions of 92 clones. They started to expand in the late 90s into more original semi auto pistols. This is when a few now defunct series came about, pt600 series, and the original pt100 Millenium series. The first gen had a whole lineup, similar to the G3 of today. They were a solid meh as far as performance went, and the customer service of Taurus in the late 90's-early 00's was non-existent. There seemed to be a renaissance for Taurus in the 00's as far as pistol design, as the first gen 24/7 line came out to rave reviews, with the OSS model being the winner of multiple publisher awards. There was a design issue with almost all of their semi-autos, other than the Beretta clones up to this point, they had a manual frame safety, a weird proprietary gun lock/safety that required a key, and a "drop" safety. I think you know where I'm going with this. Now, at the time, Taurus wasn't the only one with legal issues revolving around drop safety issues, as almost all brands making a striker fired option not named Glock had issues on this front. (Although later Glock would recall half of their gen 4s for recoil guide rod/spring issues). The thing is, almost the entire lineup of Taurus Semi autos outside of the Beretta clones, were affected by it. So almost all lines died at the end of the 2000s, with the newly updated stuff coming in the early 2010s. The Pt111 G2, 24/7 g2, Pt700 series all now magically had trigger safeties, and completely revamped fire control units. The 24/7 novel "second strike capability" was continued in those lineups, and they also introduced the PT800 series of hammer polymers about that same time. Those series of pistols were LIGHTYEARS more reliable, and did a lot to rebuild trust in the brand. I think is was 2015 or 16 the company was bought out, and a new facility was started in the U.S. initially for customer service and distribution, but they now make quite a few models there now. Around that time they changed the logo, and refreshed and consolidated the lineups. The 24/7 G2 was scrapped, and the PT 700 series of micro 9 and 40s. They refreshed the millenium G2 as the G2c by giving it a better slide coating, making the grip more aggressive, and offering even more colors. They also simplified manufacturing by using the same slide blanks for the new single stack G2s which replaced the 700 series. That being said, the G2c carried twice the ammo, didn't weigh much more, wasn't any wider, other than at the grip (which is comically thin on the G2s anyway).... So, the $200-$250 street price G2c started to sell like gangbusters. And, what's more, it was extremely reliable. (They also released their successful 1911 line about this time) There was one common complaint, if not a loud one due to the price being so cheap, the trigger is, and was, pretty mediocre. The aftermarket was also kind of just lakeline, and no one else.So that continued for a few years, with Taurus also quietly refreshing the PT800 series as the "ALL NEW" (new corporate pattern grip texture and lack of that proprietary gun lock.) TH series of hammer polymers. Then, Taurus released the G3 (full size first) complete with a brand new trigger, Glock pattern sights, and no frame safety. The world of non-gun snobs rejoiced! Since they were already rolling in poor people's money they started their second renaissance with the TX22, the objectively best semi auto .22 on the market, by a large margin, and the GX4 pistols. And derivatives galore! That pretty much catches you up, minus some more niche designs, and a short lived AR-15.
Lots of good information. Thanks for responding.
Great comparison with the Plus! I originally wanted to get the Plus, but wasn’t a fan of the trigger. Glad to see the GX2 is comparable to the Plus. Also sounds like that grip angle 📐 may be playing a part in how soft it shoots.
I agree - I think the grip angle plus a big part of how flat/soft it appears to shoot.
Nice video shoots well. Might be worth buying if depdable. But own a smith and wesson m&p shield plus which i trust.
Me too. It’s hard to leave the Shield Plus but if I didn’t have one and needed an affordable option the GX2 seems to check a lot of boxes.
Me and the gang were considering Taurus G3s in different colors after getting our LTC, instructor called it one of the cheapest mistakes we would ever make. We decided to listen to guy, but those were the G3s, not the GX series so im interested to see this one make it to 1000
Taurus G3 is a great firearm! 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Yes on the GX4 please. Looking at both of these pistols. How does the machine work on the internals look? Overall build. Thank you.
I took it a part this morning after I saw your comment - everything looks good. I’d say the plastic guide rod is a bit flimsy compared to other pistols. I’m not too concerned about that though.
@averagemarksman thank you much.
I have seen only one guy talking bad about the gun. The rest have been positive. Still early. But the GX4 and carry have hood reviews too. Some people have bias out the gate and hold on to those. It's like the guys that talk bad about foreign guns but also talk about how good H&K, Walthers and Glocks are 😂. The main this is for the tool to work not matter the price. Taurus has seemed to change things around over the years. When I started out almost 20 years ago i looked for budget friendly guns. Purchased 3 Taurus' (Millenuin PT111 and two slims ) and a Smith SVE and all have worked well. Haven't shot them in years but still have them.
This dude is pretty cool about reading posts. I'm really good at being the exact "Target Customer" of every marketing department of every firearm company on the planet. I'm not great enough of a shot to embarrass a sponsor at a competition, my wife and I have 7 sons, we need something for them to do all the time, shooting is a good way to get outside and have fun and you know, 2A all the way.
Here's my take on the Taurus GX2, enough people on youtube shoot it and have a look on their face like, "Damn, this doesn't totally suck at all." For a mini gun that's pretty high praise. You can't fake that look.
P365 was what turned me nonplussed about Sig completely as a company. It was about when that came out that I got back into pistols. Between 1994 my last year of college and 2015 I had Glock 17 and bought the VP9 in 2015. Still like both. Bought a P365XL for my wife in 2021 when I bought my Gen 5 MOS because on youtube the P365 was the greatest invention in human history. It just kind of sucks, or better stated, fell way short of an enjoyable shooting experience. I can't stand mini guns, I had to get one because that's what everyone is doing. I live in Idaho so I could sport a Desert Eagle with very little pushback but a mini gun sits on my right glute pretty comfortably. For myself, I ended up getting the Hellcat RDP a couple weeks later because everyone said it sucked and the P365 was better. Also, I'd never had a compensator on a gun so I wanted to see if it did anything. Either it does or it's a placebo and I think it does. Either way I like it better than the P365.
I was pleasantly surprised by how it shoots. For me the grip angle will take a little getting use too.
The marketing departments get me every time too hahah
I own 2 G3c's and the.22 and like all 3. My EDC is a shield+ in 9mm.
It’s hard to beat the Shield Plus for a EDC in my mind.
Yes SIG should be treated the same, but SIG did the reverse of Taurus... They used to be outstanding, but now are kinda cheap compared to their past guns... Taurus on the other hand, started out cheaply made, but now have very solid guns, at fair prices...
My old "line" for gun sales was " pay $600-800 for a $400 SIG or pay $400 for a $400 Smith and Wesson". Modify it adding $300 for a $300 Taurus.
🎯I recently shot a g2c and It would not shoot steel ammo at all Monarch 115 steel case like to see if it would run a box of that great job on your reviews🔫
I'll see if I can find any when I stop by the local gun store but I doubt they will have it.
My G2C eats steel, brass, etc!!! 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
Oh yeah new vid!!! 💯💯💯💯 Are you subscribed yet?????
@@joeyh.804 thanks, Joey.
So is it the same thickness as the shield and the 365?
The GX2 is 3-4 mm’s thicker than the Shield Plus and the P365.
Or guide rod and spring
If you remember the P365, is the gx2 easier or more difficult to rack?
It’s way easier to rack than the P365.
As an old man i can rack the p365’s. A NRA review the gx2 slide is very stiff. So we’ll see. Thanks
@ it always seem like there’s a ton of variation in the amount of force to rack a slide - it does improve them the gun is shot.
Could bad magazines cause ftf. Does anyone know
