Its rare to find videos on these old yugioh games that feel knowledgeable and professional, explaining things for those who don't know, but keeping it short for those who do. Overall a great video, going right to part two!
I remember losing a number of games to Joey’s Panther Warrior when I first played the game. Tristan seemed to play everything I DEF Mode… weird. Good vid!
While I love this type of video and can't wait to see how it concludes, I would love to see how Joey's deck fairs in future games, maybe in gx or 5ds era games, with of course you being able to choose what iteration of Joey's deck to use. I think it's funny to see a joey type deck against stardust or e heroes
I *think* that this was the game where I cheaped through some fights with change of heart + megamorph *and* liked suijin for having a buncha defense to use their ability to ruin my opponent. But that was like a decade ago...cool to see it again!
Apart from Master Duel, which *does* have pretty extensive single-player campaigns, and is the current game Yugioh has, I'd also recommend Legacy of the Duelist, if you want to relieve the anime specifically. Alternatively, for a slightly less modern, but still newer experience, the multiple games on the DS are also really fun.
My personal nostalgia always makes me emulate the World Championship Tournament games. Specifically 2004 and 2006. I looooove playing pyro in 2006. Ultimate Baseball Kid plus Gravity Bond is killer😊
One thing worth noting. In order to create the illusion that opponents are improving, certain cards are added at random. Typically, these will be normal monsters, but they may also be spell/traps.This means the actual Joey deck you face might be better or worse than what we have here. Funnily enough, nearly every duelist has a chance to play Exodia's limbs. However, only 4 opponents can have exodia's head, so they can't win with Exodia.
I would love for this to be an serie with every character in the game going from tier to tier ❤ I don’t think that will happen but I can always hope ;p
I remember playing this game as a kid on my dads nes style gameboy. Such good memories. I loved the fact too if u had the old cards u could put in there id and just get the card.
Yeah, audio balancing is something I've been working on. This was my first video with a new mic, so it's a bit rough around the edges in some places. 😅
What would’ve made this challenge more fun is being able to add an opponents card to your deck. That way you have a better chance of beating the overall challenge and adds a little variety to the duels on your end.
I actually debated on doing a "Battle City" challenge before, but it ultimately devolves quickly into "What unique DM staples (or the strongest attack monster) does [Opponent] have that I can most effectively use?" Since there's 24 opponents in the game, meaning 23 cards changed out, the final decklist would be actually busted compared to what the AI opponents can use.
fun fact, the actual gambler of legend card is seemingly based not off of the guy who canonically runs a gamble deck, joey wheeler, but instead off of the final boss of this game, yugi's grandpa.
I activate my trap card grave robber and it allows me to use one of your cards in your graveyard. I take copycat and use its effect, it allows me to copy your catchphrase "In America".
Oh God this game... I remember feeling so cheated as a kid that the enemy would always attack my facedown cards it could beat but never the ones with a high enough defense to tank the hit.
Hmm yes I totally understand what's going on. *Is clueless* Great video though! You did a good job commentating everything and I did my best to follow along and understand as I watched. Can't wait for the next part to see how difficult this can get.
I never realized the level 1 duelists in this game had semi competent decks. All I remember them doing was setting weak vanillas and losing after 3 or 4 turns.
Arkana threw away his Dark Magician to gain an advantage... and then you punished him for that and turned his Dark Magician against him. Talk about an anime moment.
you know you inspired me to do a run of EDS as well and I'm planning on doing a run where I use only 1 monster but with very weak stats and I can't use monster's like sangan and witch of the black forest to cheat it out in the deck.
Didnt Joey not also have - besides Skull Dice - also have Graceful Dice in his deck? I can surely remember Joey has that card, but maybe not in this game?
The "simpler" times of Yu-gi-oh! was incredibly slow, and it basically had no identity as its own game considering that it was pretty much like Magic: The Gathering. Also it was an outright mess with cards like Yata Garasu or Cyber Stein out and about around the first era competitively. Albeit, what it has now become is a game that is slowly declining considering the lack of new players.
@@mcihay246 Those were banned is the thing. The least insane Yu-gi-oh is literally just slow Yu-gi-oh with the OP cards banned. "Not having an identity" is ok if the alternative is the identity being the most broken in half game ever.
@@Sianostrakarenrenren Oh definitely. Which is one of the reasons why it's so difficult for newcomers to pick up and play the game, regardless of Master Duel. The very early stages were... Meh. Present day Yu-gi-oh! is somewhat of a mess. The TCG is at least able to not be as miserable as the OCG (Thanks Maxx 'C').
Oh, for sure. I could probably make a much better Joey-themed deck, but that wouldn't be what the game gave the computer opponent of Joey here, which I made myself use.
Seeing Mai take your red eyes and you countering by realizing you can take her boss monster too was such an anime moment, love it
"Are you trying to kill me? Don't."
I laughed so hard at that.

Allows me to draw two cards from the top of my deck “OR SO I HEARD” 😂😂😂😂
I used to play this game so much as a kid. I felt like SUCH a badass when I beat Kaiba and Yami!
Awesome video, thumbs up!
No Alligator S. Dragon or B. Skull Dragon is criminal 😭 this’ll be good
37:27 of course Yugi had to help out Joey again 😂
I remember losing a number of games to Joey’s Panther Warrior when I first played the game. Tristan seemed to play everything I DEF Mode… weird. Good vid!
I didn't know I needed this until your video found its way into my recommended videos! I'd certainly be interested in seeing more videos like this!
What a great video. I personally never played the GBA yugioh games but this was really cool to see still!!

I love this game from my childhood. I drove while listening so thanks for such thorough commentary.

Played this game as a kid, loved it. Great to see people making content on it, peak yugioh here.
This game was my introduction to Yu-Gi-Oh. I still love it all these years later. Any suggestions on what modern games may be similar?

You chose such a sadist way of playing!
The Mai duel was my favorite. Stealing each other’s boss monsters was just too good.
Harness the rage of Brooklyn and all the boroughs with every new draw.

The Pot of Greed joke was gold.
Calling out that annoying "only x% of people are subscribed!" thing earned my sub
somebody should take this video and put boston joey ai voice over on it
Oh God this game... I remember feeling so cheated as a kid that the enemy would always attack my facedown cards it could beat but never the ones with a high enough defense to tank the hit.
This monster can swing his sword faster than the speed of sound! - Joey Wheeler aka Brooklyn Rage.
This game takes me back to middle school where I played this on the bus all the time

How about a true challenge? Joeys deck BEFORE Duelist Kingdom. As in "all the most butt kickin monsta's" and no magic or trap cards
Joey's deck, "We want the king of games not the king of lame"
In my top 5 GBA games. Loved this game
Knowing how tough this game can get, it's an interesting premise.
Such a good game. Please do more character theme decks

Between 2000 and 1200 attack point yes
Nothing is wrong.
I confess tha love his deck .
Joey can combine own monster.
Thas why i love it..
"are you trying to kill me? Dont" grandpa wurd reel gud
Got this as a kid and NEVER GOT OFF OF IT I wish I had the cards that came with it
Harpie's Brother is a significantly cooler name than Sky Scout why did they errata this
They didn't want to write "except Harper's Brother" on every harpylady card.
honestly would have loved to see an anime accurate (or as anime accurate) deck as possible
I’ve been wanting to play this game again. Did you actually get the GBA version or did you find a place to play online
Actual GBA cartridge, using the GameCube to play it, so I could record the footage.
@@StupidStudiosN big sad now lol 😂
@StupidStudiosN So you're using Game Boy Interface? I approve. Far better driver than the Start-Up Disk.
What about Graverobber, kunai with chain, or Flame swordsman? Those were staples in his deck!
No Flame Swordsman or Graceful Dice?
When part 2 comeing
More!
Didnt Joey not also have - besides Skull Dice - also have Graceful Dice in his deck?
I can surely remember Joey has that card, but maybe not in this game?
In the show, he used it, but it's not in his deck here.
Funny too, since both cards were promos for EDS.
Dropped a like and a sub.

wow it really was amogus
Why don't you have flame swordsman?
I was using Joey's deck that the game used as an AI opponent, and the in-game deck didn't contain Flame Swordsman.
The reason the PS1 game is so weird is because the game didnt have strict written rules
So they made some up
..... no goblin attack force?
Can't wait to see Joey beat kiba
me too buddy, me too
mfw skull dice
I still play this game from time to time. I have over 150 total wins and 0 losses. I really like your play by plays for the duels, very entertaining.
Yeah, it's definitely a fun way to relive how Yugioh was back then. And thanks, I appreciate it!
Joeys deck.
Hes a reason ....
First pack of structure.
Love his deck.
So hes one of mine favorite 3rd duelist in duel monster
wait Joey Wheeler and no Kunai with Chain?
It's very strange how this game has a bunch of Joey's cards, yet gave him this mostly generic deck instead. Gotta love early-GBA era Yugioh games.
