Honestly understandable. If you have watched the Team Liquid Video you know there is absolutely no excuse for anyone to defend Piglet. He's a fking baby and acted like it and should have never been taken seriously as a "Pro-Player" in a working environment where people try to make money and win some games. He's the one guy I wish who should have been punched in the face to get real ASAP.

@@johnkirk1772 Yea you're completely right, Faker literally changed the way we think about the game.
IMO He conceptualised LEARNING and progressing at things, obviously in this case League, but you can apply the same to anything if you want to get better.
I feel like the progression of the game has been monumentally fast forwarded through him being there, the amount of times he literally forced Riot to change the game balance completely by himself (just think about Ryze reworks LOL) is incredible, imagine without Faker we could be starting the Season 8 Meta Era just now for example.
Just the basic concept of how to learn and get better at stuff, throughout his stream people could and still can actually follow the train of thought and how he overcomes problems. He taught me to go out of my comfort zone for real, try unusual things and accept and appreciate mistakes you make, see them for what they are and learn from them. The phrase he says with the "not swimming against the tides, going with it and adapting/learning from it" is actually so insane how much it fits him and that's not only since recently, I remember feeling this way back in 2014/2015 already while watching his korean stream on Azubu not understanding a word him or anyone in Chat said.

yeahhh I do agree that Faker gets a lot of excuses (from people not from himself) when he has bad performances but he also gets a LOT of hate, but to be fair that goes for every big player... it feels awful to see these great players get absolutely hated and almost cyber bullied bc they did one bad play or had bad split. Like are people supposed to not make mistakes ever? or is the internet just br41n dead? I think we all know the answer but it rly sucks.

Same can be said for most players... But fakers played like almost 20 international tournaments.. Having one bad out of all this is not exaggerating at all..

Not to mention this is the first international tournament where Chovy made it past a semi final despite being in like 4 different super teams.

he did performed bad but lets not forget he and his team has been a target of ddos attacks for the past half a year which makes them unable to practice in soloq. zeus picking tf in recent series vs geng shows that they havent had enough time to practice to determine current meta. i know dom got pissed off when t1 lost finals to geng and they said they didnt have enough practice and dom lashed about admitting that geng was better - yes, geng was better but you cant take the ddos factor from it - it wasnt a fair competition if your opponent chills out and has all the time in the world to practice meta in and off, and you are stuck in your gaming house unable to play soloq and forced to play arena

@@Adrian-fo4kvYeah while his peers are all washed/retired. Playing bad in his 12th year? That can happen easily. Ya think Chovy will maintain the same for 5 more years? 5 year age gap is huge in League pro play, the only 'veterans' staying at the top is Faker and Ruler maybe.

Legit watch the rest of it and it'll explain why they said what they said and why they highlighted the clip. Actual fucking Streamer syndrome has to give his opinion about a portion of a sentence when it's broken up in commas.

thats why. it kinda sucks in terms of legacy when it comes to faker. the people that bandwagon t1 and just watch their intl play and only started watching legue 3 or 4 years just hear faker is the goat and assume hes just the best player every season. there was a moment where faker was legit an unkillable demon king, there was a time where he legitimately was the best player for 5+ years and no one was even close to touching him. this dude would consistently carry his team to championships every season. he would have 4 corpses for teamates and they would win a worlds championships beacuse of faker. when people call him the best rn people dont understand how good he actually was. it really sucks. thats why we need people like dom, monte, ambition, impact, etc. the people that actually there when faker was at his best to accurately describe how good faker actually was and why hes the best league player of all time.

I only started league around 2017, the same year of Faker's downfall and my god when I watched every thing that Faker did before at the time. I was like, nah this man is built for this game as to how he's so good. Sad to say, he already passed his actual peak when he was dishing out weirdest picks and winning on them almost everytime. He's more stable right now and plays more for the team. I do believe that he still has the skills, we can see it in his decision making and some creative outplays/escapes like the MSI incident juking Caps around top side river.

The thing that undercuts faker's legacy for me is that the scene wasn't actually professional at all back then. He was essentially playing against paid amateurs, in a game that was MUCH less polished and cohesive than it is now.
If faker were to start his rookie split today he'd still be one of the best, but he wouldn't be a faker. I get that you can only beat whoever is in front of you, but it typically takes 2-3 generations of talent to cycle though a scene all with full salary before base skill levels and knowledge have been solidified. He just didn't play against people that were good at the game by modern standards, and that makes me look back at his career then and wonder if he is even as good as people think. He was the best by far, second place wouldn't even get a spot on a pro team these days though. Would faker even get a spot?

that's why evolution exist, meta and champs are bound to evolve and change, get modernize and improve but thats not enough to devalued faker's titles. Like people who witness and watched him over these years would collectively agree that faker is a one dominant pillar of this competitive esports, he contributed a lot and he grind for more than a decade for the achievements and veneration he's receiving now. The least respect you can give to the goat is not to diminish his talent, effort and passion, even if he debuted in this age he's bound to get recognized, he's not the unkillable demon king for no reason

So he was by far the best player of the time, probably from 2013 till 2017. At least in the top 5 best players in the world to be generous. Yes the skill level then was lower. But he is still like world class even today. Best in the game? Probably not at least on the mechanical side. Might not even be top 5 in his role. But on a good day he is very much playing on the level with the best. And that is after career of almost 12 seasons.
If your idea that a legacy is tarnished because he was the best when the scene was not at it's best you can also leave anyone out who isn't the best in like the last few years. Cause I think even 2020 player level is quite a lot lower then now. Not as much if you go back to like 2013 or even 2017, but still.
There was probably some reasonable doubt about his GOAT status before worlds 2023 but winning that probably cemented his status that will not be touched in a long while. (I hope it will be though.) The only thing I think he kind of needs (5th Worlds trophy would be one but not talking about that) is a MSI trophy on modern level. Getting that now that MSI is double elimination would be such a huge thing.
Anyway no hate I just think you are a little misguided that being one of the best players in the world for 5 years, even if it was in the early days of the sport, undercuts his legacy.
      Have a good day.

So the ceiling you see today was set multiple times by faker at one point. When he came on to the scene, as a rookie, he was HEAD AND SHOULDERS above anyone else. In Korea, the first year he played league of legends, he had to start playing ranked because he literally could not find a queue in normal because of his mmr. It's silly to say what undercuts his legacy is the fact that he was one of the ogs. All the ogs are the ones who pushed everyone else to play better by innovating and pioneering high skill play. The people who are good now whom u think would have served as better competition built their skills on those who preceded them.
Kkoma signed on to skt with one of the conditions being that he got to build the team himself. Faker was the only one recruited (out of solo queue) without a test because kkoma new there wasn't a single mid laner who compared.
Also, his fourth world's was won last year. The oldest player to do it. And no other player even comes close to his accomplishments. The sheer longevity of his career and the quality he maintained, keeping up with all the changing metas, teammates, etc is no joke and he by far has the deepest champion pool.
This take makes little sense because you assume that the first to play a game are worse than current gen players because inherently current gen is better than past gen but the current gen is as good as they are because there were good players in the past gen to learn and improve from. It's just a natural evolution that happens across all fields.

Another way to look at this is if faker had not debuted back then and started off in some later season, would there even have been anyone else like faker in his place?
      I don't think so.
So whether he only achieved it cause things were more "amateur" back then is simply a moot point. No one else even comes close to his impact on the game and the esports scene. No one else would've done it or been it. There would be contenders for the goat title but no one so undisputed like faker has been from the moment he arrived.
